There is no evidence here for a representative, cross-retailer ranking of seven e-bike accessories based on customer reviews. The picks below instead draw on named editorial reviews and staff recommendations, with their limits stated. Start with the gear that fits your riding: safety and maintenance basics matter to nearly everyone, while navigation and cargo upgrades depend on how you use the bike.
How to choose accessories for the way you ride
A commuter may prioritize a secure lock, a pump, and navigation; an errands rider may need a rack or basket; family and recreational riders may value different carrying or convenience options. Popular Science distinguishes basic safety and maintenance gear from convenience and cargo upgrades in its accessory guide. The seven examples below are not a universal ranking, and editorial recognition should not be mistaken for broad customer-review consensus.

1. A helmet: Lazer Tempo KinetiCore
road.cc named the Lazer Tempo KinetiCore a 2025/26 Bargain Buy. Its 2026 report lists a weight of 258 g and a single fit range of 54–61 cm, and notes compatibility with Lazer’s rechargeable LED accessory. These are specifications reported by road.cc, not independent certification findings. Check the fit range against your head measurement and confirm that the helmet sits securely before riding. Lock choice depends on theft exposure, where you can secure the bike, and how much weight and bulk you are willing to carry. REI summarizes the compromise in a quotation from employee Jeff Schmidt: “High security, light weight, low price—pick two.” Its guide describes the Kryptonite Evolution Lite Mini-6, measuring 6 x 2.75 inches, as suited to short stops and lower-theft environments; its compact dimensions can make it difficult to secure a bike to some racks. REI’s product listing showed 3.2 out of 5 from 23 reviews when surfaced in 2026. That small, time-sensitive product-page sample is not a general measure of lock performance. See REI’s lock guidance.

For a contrasting editorial example, road.cc reviewed the Halfords Advanced 23cm D Lock and reported that it is Sold Secure Diamond-rated. In road.cc’s own angle-grinder test, the lock lasted 94 seconds; that is a result from one publication’s specific test, not a guaranteed theft-resistance time. The review also criticized its mount for rattling and feeling insecure. Choose a lock that can secure the frame and, where practical, a wheel to a fixed object, and consider how you will carry it. 3. A floor pump: Topeak JoeBlow Sport III
A floor pump makes routine tire-pressure checks and inflation easier than relying on a small roadside pump. REI describes the Topeak JoeBlow Sport III as having an easy-to-read gauge and a dual head compatible with Presta, Schrader, and Dunlop valves. 4. A compact multitool: Topeak Ratchet Rocket Essential
A compact tool can help with ordinary fasteners and roadside adjustments. road.cc describes the Topeak Ratchet Rocket Essential as a small set with a ratchet mechanism and hex, Torx, and Phillips bits. Before relying on any multitool, compare its bits with the fasteners on your bike; a compact set may not cover every component or repair. Read road.cc’s review.

5. A phone mount: Peak Design Mobile Case and Out Front Bike Mount

It may suit riders who want navigation in view, but check that the case is made for your phone and that the mount fits your handlebar setup. 6. A rack or pannier for regular carrying
A rack and panniers can move errands or commuting loads off your back, but compatibility is bike-specific. Check whether your e-bike has mounting points, whether the rack clears the battery and other components, and whether its load limit meets your needs. For panniers, compare capacity, weather protection, attachment security, and how conveniently you can carry them off the bike.
7. A basket or cargo net for flexible loads
A basket can make small, frequent errands easier; a cargo net can help keep irregular items in place. Select a setup that fits the bike and does not obstruct lights, controls, or safe handling. Consider how the load attaches, how large it is, and whether it is secure enough for the surfaces and trips you ride. Popular Science includes cargo and convenience upgrades alongside basic safety and maintenance gear, but the right choice depends on the rider’s use.
