Yes—PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can play 7 Days to Die together. Crossplay is provided through a compatible dedicated server, not an arbitrary PC-hosted world. Set the server to allow crossplay, keep Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) enabled, use vanilla game files, stay within the console-compatible settings ranges, and limit the world to eight simultaneous players. The Fun Pimps added this support in the v1.2 release.

What crossplay supports—and what it does not

The supported arrangement is a dedicated server that accepts players on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players search for that server in their platform’s browser and join with their normal platform accounts. The official v1.2 announcement states that players on Xbox, PlayStation and PC can use cross-platform gameplay.

The crossplay limit is eight players. The same announcement specifies an 8192-world size. Treat both as supported limits rather than targets to exceed: raising the player count or using a larger world can make the server unavailable to console clients.

Question Supported answer
PC with PS5? Yes, through a compatible dedicated server.
PC with Xbox Series X|S? Yes, through a compatible dedicated server.
PS5 with Xbox Series X|S? Yes, when the dedicated server meets the crossplay requirements.
PS4 or Xbox One? Not established by the cited crossplay requirements; the documented current support is for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
PC players joining a modded crossplay server? PC-only modded play is possible, but mods prevent console players from joining the crossplay server.

Requirements to check before creating the server

  • Dedicated-server software: Use a server that runs independently of a player’s game session.
  • Crossplay enabled: Set the server’s crossplay option to on.
  • EAC enabled: Crossplay requires Easy Anti-Cheat. On PC, the game must run with EAC Protected set to On.
  • Vanilla files: Do not install mods on the server intended for console participation.
  • Console-compatible values: Keep the documented settings inside their accepted ranges.
  • Capacity: Set the maximum player count to eight or fewer.
  • World size: Use the supported 8192 world size.
  • Current game versions: Keep the server and every client on compatible builds. A version mismatch can look like a browser or connection problem.

These are functional requirements, not optimization suggestions. Fix them before changing ports, reinstalling clients or repeatedly refreshing the server browser.

Hosted-server setup

A hosted dedicated server is usually the simplest persistent option. The provider keeps the process running on its own hardware, supplies a web control panel and lets friends join even when the owner is not playing. The exact plan name, data-center region, price and backup policy vary and should be checked on the provider’s current site.

Configure a hosted server in the control panel

Nitrado’s documented workflow uses the following labels. Other hosts normally expose equivalent controls, although the wording and location can differ.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Stop the server. Use the control panel’s stop command and wait until the status shows that the process has shut down. Changing settings while it is running can leave the old configuration active.
  2. Open Settings > General. Scroll to the section labelled Crossplay.
  3. Turn on “Allow Crossplay.” Save the setting.
  4. Check the player limit. Set player slots to no more than eight.
  5. Confirm security and file requirements. EAC must be enabled, EOS sanctions must not be ignored, and mods must be disabled for a console-compatible server.
  6. Review every game setting. Compare the values with the accepted ranges in the table below. Correct an out-of-range value before starting the server.
  7. Restart the server. Allow the process to finish its startup and world-loading sequence before testing from a client.

After the restart, have one player on each platform search the server browser. Use the same server name and password you give to the group, and wait for the server to finish loading before concluding that it is missing.

Hosted-server checks after the first start

  • Verify that the panel still reports crossplay as enabled after the restart.
  • Confirm the displayed maximum player count is eight or less.
  • Check that EAC is enabled and that the server is not configured to ignore EOS sanctions.
  • Confirm that the server reports a vanilla installation with no active mods.
  • Record the server region and name so players do not select a similarly named PC-only world.
  • Make a backup before changing world-generation or progression settings.

Self-hosting a dedicated server

Self-hosting can reduce recurring hosting fees and gives the owner direct access to files and configuration, but it transfers every operational responsibility to that owner. The dedicated-server process must remain running, the host computer must stay powered on, and the home connection must have enough upstream capacity for the group. The machine also shares CPU, memory and storage bandwidth with any game client running on it.

Use self-hosting when these trade-offs are acceptable

  • You need a server only for occasional sessions and can leave the host machine and connection available.
  • You are comfortable installing updates, checking logs, making backups and correcting configuration files.
  • You can secure the service and expose only the network access required by the server software.

Choose hosted service when continuity matters

  • Friends need to play while the owner is offline.
  • You do not want to maintain a computer, router and operating-system updates.
  • You need a web panel for restarts, backups and setting changes.
  • You prefer the provider to handle the public network endpoint and hardware availability.
Factor Hosted dedicated server Self-hosted dedicated server
Uptime Provider hardware normally stays online; service depends on the plan and provider. Owner must keep the computer, power and internet connection available.
Setup effort Usually a plan, install and control-panel configuration. Install and update the server software, configure the operating system and network, and maintain the process.
Control Panel permissions and provider policies limit some changes. Direct access to files, logs and operating-system resources.
Recurring cost Monthly or periodic charge; current prices are provider- and region-specific. No hosting subscription, but the owner pays electricity, hardware and internet costs.
Backups May be included or sold as an option; verify retention and restore procedures. Owner must schedule, store and test backups.
Network exposure Provider operates the public endpoint. Owner is responsible for router rules, firewall exposure and security updates.
Owner offline Players can usually continue if the service remains paid and healthy. Players cannot join when the host process or connection is unavailable.

Console-compatible settings reference

The official Help Center, updated April 21, 2026, lists the following values for a console-compatible dedicated server. A value outside these ranges can trigger a “non-standard game settings” error or keep the server out of the console browser. Some settings can be disabled with 0 where the Help Center explicitly permits it; do not use zero merely to bypass a range you have not verified.

Setting Required value or range Why it matters
ServerMaxPlayerCount 8 maximum Eight is the supported crossplay player limit.
ServerAllowCrossplay True Publishes the server as crossplay-capable.
EACEnabled True EAC is required for crossplay.
IgnoreEOSSanctions False Maintains the required EOS sanctions behavior.
XPMultiplier 25–300 Keeps progression within the accepted console range.
DayNightLength 10 or higher Prevents an unsupported short day/night cycle.
BloodMoonEnemyCount 4–64 Controls the horde-night enemy count within the accepted range.
BlockDamagePlayer 25–300 Player block damage must remain in range.
BlockDamageAI 25 or higher AI block damage cannot be set below the documented minimum.
BlockDamageAIBM 25 or higher Blood Moon AI block damage has the same minimum.
LootAbundance 200 maximum Higher loot abundance is not accepted for console crossplay.
LootRespawnDays 5 or higher Shorter respawn periods are outside the documented range.

The panel may present sliders, drop-downs or text boxes rather than these variable names. Match the meaning, then save and restart. If a setting is not shown in the panel, inspect the provider’s advanced configuration documentation instead of inventing a replacement value.

7 Days to Die (PS4)
  • Unlimited hours of gameplay
  • Explore - Huge, unique and rich environments, offering the freedom to play the game however you want
  • Craft - craft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, and more
  • Build - Take over a ruin, or build from the ground-up. Design your fortress to include traps and defensive positions to survive the undead
  • Cooperate or Compete - Includes two player split screen mode, with support for up to 4 players online, in Player versus Player, co-op survival, or co-op creative modes

How players join from PC, PS5 and Xbox

  1. Start the game on the relevant platform and sign in to the platform account that will play on the server.
  2. On PC, launch with EAC Protected: On. A PC client that disables EAC is not a valid crossplay client.
  3. In the game’s general multiplayer options, set Crossplay Enabled: On. Both PC and console clients need this enabled.
  4. Open the server browser and search for the server name. Allow the list time to refresh after the server has restarted.
  5. Select the matching server, enter its password if one is configured, and join.
  6. Have another platform search for the same name. Test one PC and one console account before inviting the rest of the group.

If the browser does not show the server, use the peer-to-peer tab or a SteamID search when that option is available. These alternatives are recommended in the official troubleshooting guidance and can find a server that a broad browser filter has not displayed.

Troubleshooting servers that do not appear or accept players

The server is missing from the console browser

  1. Return to the control panel and verify ServerAllowCrossplay=True or the equivalent “Allow Crossplay” switch.
  2. Confirm EACEnabled=True; crossplay will not work with EAC disabled.
  3. Check that ServerMaxPlayerCount is eight or less.
  4. Set IgnoreEOSSanctions=False.
  5. Compare every listed gameplay value with the accepted ranges. Correct any outlier, save, stop and restart.
  6. Confirm that no mod files are active and that the server is vanilla.
  7. Check the client platform, game version and crossplay toggle, then search again after the server has fully started.
  8. Try the peer-to-peer tab or SteamID search if available.

The “non-standard game settings” error appears

This usually points to a value outside the console-compatible ranges rather than a router problem. Compare the server’s complete configuration with the official Help Center limits, including less-obvious values such as loot respawn, day length and both AI block-damage fields. Restore the offending value, restart the server and test with an unmodded client.

A PC player can join but a console player cannot

Check for mods first: a modded server may remain usable by PC clients while rejecting console clients. Next verify EAC on the server and the PC client’s EAC Protected setting, then recheck the crossplay flag and all ranges. A PC-only success does not prove that the server is console-compatible.

The server reaches eight players and others are rejected

Eight is the supported crossplay maximum. Remove an existing player or use a second server; do not raise the slot count in an attempt to admit a ninth player.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Players see different worlds or cannot connect after an update

Stop the server, confirm that its game build matches the clients, and restart after the update has completed. Do not delete the world as a first step. Preserve a backup, then check the server log and provider status for an incomplete update or failed startup.

Connections fail intermittently on a self-hosted server

Check that the host computer is not sleeping, that the dedicated-server process is still running and that the internet connection has not changed its public address. Review firewall and router rules, but do this only after the crossplay and settings checks above. A network fix cannot compensate for disabled EAC, unsupported values or active mods.

Mods, worlds and a practical two-server arrangement

Console participation requires a vanilla server. Mods that add content, alter gameplay or change server files can prevent consoles from joining, even when PC players connect normally. There is no reliable setting that makes an arbitrary mod available to console clients.

If the group wants both crossplay and mods, maintain separate worlds:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Crossplay server: vanilla files, EAC on, crossplay on, supported settings and a maximum of eight players.
  • PC-only server: the required mods and any PC-only settings, clearly named so console players do not attempt to join it.

Keep independent backups for the two worlds. Do not copy a modded world’s save into the vanilla crossplay server without checking compatibility; a save can depend on content that console clients cannot load.

Maintenance checklist for a persistent crossplay world

  • Before each update, stop the server and create a dated world backup.
  • After updating, confirm the server and clients report compatible versions.
  • Recheck crossplay, EAC, EOS-sanction behavior, player cap and the full settings table after provider-side changes.
  • Keep a written record of the server name, region, password process and administrator account.
  • Test a PC account and a console account after major updates or configuration changes.
  • Review backups by performing a test restore on a separate instance when the provider supports it.
  • Keep the server vanilla if console players must retain access.

Bottom line

A PC–PS5–Xbox Series X|S group can share 7 Days to Die on a dedicated server, provided the server is vanilla, crossplay is enabled, EAC remains on, EOS sanctions are not ignored, every console-compatible setting stays within range, and the player count does not exceed eight. Hosted service is the easiest way to keep the world available; self-hosting is viable when you accept responsibility for uptime, networking, updates and backups.
