Antibiotics reduce Zombie Infection by 25% per dose. You can find them in Medicine Cabinets, Pop-N-Pills pill cases, and Supply Crates, or craft them at a Campfire or Chemistry Station. The Chemistry Station recipe is the most ingredient-efficient option: one Old Sham Sandwich, one Nitrate Powder, and one Water makes one Antibiotics.
Herbal Antibiotics reduce Infection by 10% and Honey by 5%, so keep those as fallback treatments when the infection is minor or regular Antibiotics are unavailable. The recipes below reflect the current item history: Alpha 20 changed Moldy Bread to Old Sham Sandwich, and Alpha 21 changed Murky Water to Water in the Chemistry Station recipe.

Antibiotics at a glance
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| How much Infection does one dose remove? | Regular Antibiotics: 25% |
| Where can you loot them? | Medicine Cabinets, Pop-N-Pills pill cases, and Supply Crates |
| Campfire recipe | 4 Old Sham Sandwiches + 3 Nitrate Powder + 1 Water; requires a Beaker |
| Chemistry Station recipe | 1 Old Sham Sandwich + 1 Nitrate Powder + 1 Water |
| Most efficient crafting route | Chemistry Station, because it uses one Old Sham Sandwich and one Nitrate Powder per item |
| Other treatments | Herbal Antibiotics remove 10%; Honey removes 5% |
Looting costs no ingredients, but the result depends on finding the right containers. Crafting gives you a repeatable source once you have the ingredients and workstation access. If you already have a regular Antibiotics item and need the largest single reduction, use it rather than saving it for a minor infection.
Where to find Antibiotics
Search medical containers first
The named loot sources for Antibiotics are:
- Medicine Cabinets
- Pop-N-Pills pill cases
- Supply Crates
These are the most direct containers to check when you need medicine. Medical Supplies containers also appear in dungeon-style point-of-interest loot rooms and other points of interest. The game’s Medical Supplies reference lists those locations at https://7daystodie.wiki.gg/wiki/Medical_Supplies.
#1 Best Overall
- Unlimited hours of gameplay
- Explore - Huge, unique and rich environments, offering the freedom to play the game however you want
- Craft - craft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, and more
- Build - Take over a ruin, or build from the ground-up. Design your fortress to include traps and defensive positions to survive the undead
- Cooperate or Compete - Includes two player split screen mode, with support for up to 4 players online, in Player versus Player, co-op survival, or co-op creative modes
A practical looting route
- Check every Medicine Cabinet you encounter. Bathrooms, clinics, and other medical-looking interiors are natural places to begin because the cabinet itself is a named Antibiotics source.
- Search Pop-N-Pills areas and their pill cases. Do not stop after opening one container; the relevant loot source is the individual pill case, so clear the nearby cases while you are there.
- Open Supply Crates. They are another named source and can provide medicine without consuming crafting materials.
- Clear medical loot rooms in dungeon-style points of interest. Look for Medical Supplies containers along the intended route instead of leaving the room after finding only general loot.
- Keep searching other points of interest when necessary. The listed sources improve your odds of finding medicine, but the item is not guaranteed in every container.
Looting is especially valuable early in a save, before you have a Chemistry Station or a reliable supply of Old Sham Sandwiches. It also preserves Nitrate Powder for other uses and avoids the Campfire recipe’s four-sandwich cost.
How to craft Antibiotics
Campfire recipe
The Campfire recipe produces one Antibiotics item from:

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute- 4 Old Sham Sandwiches
- 3 Nitrate Powder
- 1 Water
- A Campfire containing a Beaker
- Open the Campfire crafting interface.
- Make sure a Beaker is available in the Campfire, because the recipe requires one.
- Supply 4 Old Sham Sandwiches, 3 Nitrate Powder, and 1 Water.
- Select the Antibiotics recipe and craft one item.
This route is useful when the Campfire is your available workstation, but it consumes four times as many Old Sham Sandwiches as the Chemistry Station recipe and three times as much Nitrate Powder for each finished item.
Chemistry Station recipe
The Chemistry Station recipe produces one Antibiotics item from:
- 1 Old Sham Sandwich
- 1 Nitrate Powder
- 1 Water
- Open the Chemistry Station crafting interface.
- Place 1 Old Sham Sandwich, 1 Nitrate Powder, and 1 Water into the recipe’s inputs.
- Select Antibiotics and craft one item.
For every one Antibiotics item, this route uses one Old Sham Sandwich instead of four and one Nitrate Powder instead of three. That makes the Chemistry Station the ingredient-efficient choice when you have access to it. The documented recipe does not list a Beaker requirement for the Chemistry Station version; the Beaker requirement applies to the Campfire recipe.

Campfire versus Chemistry Station
| Factor | Campfire | Chemistry Station |
|---|---|---|
| Old Sham Sandwiches per Antibiotics | 4 | 1 |
| Nitrate Powder per Antibiotics | 3 | 1 |
| Water per Antibiotics | 1 | 1 |
| Workstation | Campfire | Chemistry Station |
| Beaker | Required | Not stated in the documented recipe |
| Best use case | Making medicine before a Chemistry Station is available | Stretching scarce Old Sham Sandwiches and Nitrate Powder |
Finding the ingredients
Old Sham Sandwiches
Old Sham Sandwiches are the limiting ingredient for many players. Search food containers, especially:
Recommended Free Tools
- Refrigerators
- Microwaves
- Kitchen cupboards
The item documentation identifies Old Sham Sandwiches as the hardest Antibiotics ingredient to acquire. When you are planning to craft medicine, search kitchens methodically rather than relying only on medical locations: a refrigerator or cupboard can provide the ingredient that a Medicine Cabinet cannot.
Because the Campfire recipe consumes four Old Sham Sandwiches while the Chemistry Station consumes one, avoid spending your entire supply at a Campfire if you expect to gain Chemistry Station access soon. Conversely, if infection is actively draining your survivability and the Campfire is your only available workstation, using the four-item recipe may be preferable to waiting.
Nitrate Powder
Nitrate Powder comes from nitrate deposits in four biomes:
- Pine Forest
- Burnt Forest
- Desert
- Wasteland
You can also obtain it from underground cave formations, including stalactites and stalagmites. This gives you both surface and subterranean collection options. The Chemistry Station recipe needs only one Nitrate Powder per Antibiotics, while the Campfire recipe needs three, so the efficient workstation has a substantial advantage when Nitrate Powder is your bottleneck.

Water
Both recipes use one Water per Antibiotics. The current Chemistry Station recipe calls for Water, not Murky Water. If an old guide or screenshot shows Murky Water, it is describing an earlier recipe rather than the current one.
Which treatment should you use?
| Treatment | Infection reduction per dose | When it makes sense |
|---|---|---|
| Antibiotics | 25% | Use when you need the strongest listed single-dose reduction or the infection is serious |
| Herbal Antibiotics | 10% | Use as a fallback when regular Antibiotics are unavailable, especially at lower Infection levels |
| Honey | 5% | Use for a small reduction when the infection is low or stronger medicine must be conserved |
The percentages are per dose. At low Infection levels, a 10% Herbal Antibiotics reduction or 5% Honey reduction may be enough, allowing you to reserve regular Antibiotics for a more severe case. At higher levels, regular Antibiotics provide the largest listed reduction and are the most direct treatment choice.
A simple treatment decision
- Check the current Infection value. Decide whether you need the largest available reduction or only a small adjustment.
- Use regular Antibiotics when the infection is substantial and you have them. Each dose is rated at a 25% reduction.
- Use Herbal Antibiotics when regular medicine is unavailable or excessive for the current level. Their per-dose reduction is 10%.
- Use Honey for a minor infection or as a conserving option. It reduces Infection by 5% per dose.
- Recheck the Infection value after treatment. This confirms whether another dose is needed instead of consuming medicine automatically.
The fastest practical route to a cure
There is no single route that is fastest for every save because the answer depends on what is already in your inventory and which workstation you can use. Use this priority order:
- Already have regular Antibiotics? Use one when the infection warrants the 25% reduction; this avoids travel and crafting entirely.
- Near a medical loot source? Search Medicine Cabinets, Pop-N-Pills pill cases, Supply Crates, and Medical Supplies containers before spending ingredients.
- Have a Chemistry Station and the three listed ingredients? Craft there. One Old Sham Sandwich, one Nitrate Powder, and one Water make one Antibiotics.
- Only have a Campfire and Beaker? Use the Campfire recipe if waiting would leave the infection untreated: four Old Sham Sandwiches, three Nitrate Powder, and one Water make one item.
- Have only weaker treatments? Use Herbal Antibiotics or Honey when their smaller reduction matches the current Infection level, then continue searching or gathering for regular medicine.
This order balances immediate treatment against resource efficiency. Loot is ingredient-free, Chemistry Station crafting preserves scarce materials, and Campfire crafting is the emergency fallback when the better workstation is not available.

Using the wrong recipe from an old guide
Two historical changes explain most outdated instructions. Alpha 20 replaced Moldy Bread with Old Sham Sandwich, and Alpha 21 replaced Murky Water with Water in the Chemistry Station recipe. If a guide lists either older ingredient, use the current combinations in this article instead.

Forgetting the Campfire Beaker
A Campfire alone is not enough for the documented Antibiotics recipe. The Campfire must contain a Beaker in addition to the four Old Sham Sandwiches, three Nitrate Powder, and one Water.
Spending all Old Sham Sandwiches at the Campfire
The Campfire cost is four Old Sham Sandwiches per item. If you can use a Chemistry Station, the same output costs one Old Sham Sandwich. Keep that difference in mind before committing a scarce food-container find to the less efficient recipe.
Searching only for medical loot
Antibiotics themselves are medical loot, but Old Sham Sandwiches are found in food containers. Search refrigerators, microwaves, and kitchen cupboards when you are preparing to craft rather than visiting only clinics and medicine rooms.
Using a strong treatment for every infection
Regular Antibiotics remove 25% per dose, while Herbal Antibiotics remove 10% and Honey 5%. For a low Infection value, a weaker option may be sufficient and lets you keep regular medicine for a more serious infection.
Quick Recap
Preparation checklist
- Mark medical locations so you can revisit Medicine Cabinets, Pop-N-Pills pill cases, and Supply Crates.
- Search every refrigerator, microwave, and kitchen cupboard for Old Sham Sandwiches.
- Collect Nitrate Powder from deposits in the Pine Forest, Burnt Forest, Desert, or Wasteland, or from cave stalactites and stalagmites.
- Keep at least one Water available for whichever recipe you can use.
- Carry a Beaker if you intend to craft at a Campfire.
- Prefer the Chemistry Station recipe when preserving ingredients matters.
- Reserve regular Antibiotics for cases where the full 25% per-dose reduction is useful; use Herbal Antibiotics or Honey for smaller needs.
