The AEG DGE5660HM is a discontinued 54 cm integrated rangehood with a manufacturer-rated maximum airflow of 660 m³/h, Hob2Hood automation, and both ducted and recirculating options. AEG lists noise at 54 dB on low and 67 dB on high. Those are published specifications, not independent test results, so the figures do not establish how it will perform in a particular kitchen.
Is the AEG DGE5660HM any good?
On paper, it is a well-equipped compact hood: it has four fan speeds, remote and push-button controls, two LED lights, a filter-cleaning reminder, and an automatic fan timer. Hob2Hood can coordinate the hood’s fan and lights with a compatible hob. Its 150 mm duct connection and 54 cm width make installation details especially important to check before buying.
There is no independent hands-on test established for this model here, so its real-world extraction, sound, and ease of installation cannot be confirmed. AEG’s Australian product page shows inconsistent review information—a 4.5 rating and 55 reviews near the top, but zero reviews and recommendations later on, alongside a testimonial apparently about a dishwasher feature. That is not a reliable basis for claiming owner consensus. AEG Australia’s DGE5660HM listing

Is the DGE5660HM discontinued?
Yes. AEG Australia marks the exact DGE5660HM model as discontinued. That does not establish whether remaining units are available from any particular retailer, nor does it confirm current local parts or filter stock. If considering a used or leftover unit, verify its condition, included accessories, warranty terms, and service options in your region. AEG provides manufacturer routes for manuals, repair booking, and spare parts on its rangehood support page.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What do the airflow and noise figures mean?
AEG Australia lists maximum airflow of 660 m³/h, but its Australian specification does not provide a complete airflow figure for each fan speed. The noise figures are 54 dB at low and 67 dB at high. These manufacturer-published values should not be treated as measurements from an independent test or as a complete picture of sound at every speed or in every installation.
When comparing it with another hood, compare airflow and noise at equivalent fan settings and operating modes. Duct length, bends, outlet conditions, and installation can affect the result, so a headline maximum alone cannot predict performance in your kitchen. The UK-listed DGE5661HM is a different model; do not use its specifications as a substitute for the Australian DGE5660HM figures. AEG UK’s DGE5661HM listing

Will it fit your kitchen?
AEG lists the hood at 330 mm high, 540 mm wide, and 300 mm deep. Check the actual cabinet opening and available space against the installation guide; a nominal 54 cm width does not by itself confirm that the appliance will fit an existing cabinet.

- Clearance: AEG specifies at least 500 mm above an electric cooking surface or 570 mm above gas. Confirm the exact installation guide and applicable local requirements for your cooktop and installation.
- Ducting: The listed duct diameter is 150 mm. Confirm the route, outlet, and space for ducting before selecting ducted installation.
- Operating mode: AEG lists both ducted extraction and recirculation. Recirculation requires two optional carbon filters; the Australian listing does not state the exact filter part number.
For recirculation, confirm the filters are compatible with the DGE5660HM and available in your region before committing. For ducted operation, check that the planned duct route can accommodate the specified diameter.

Controls, Hob2Hood and maintenance
The hood has electronic push buttons, a remote control, an LED speed display, and four listed fan speeds. AEG also lists an auto-off function, an auto fan timer, and a clean-filter indicator. It has two LED lights and two multilayer aluminum micromesh grease filters; AEG says the mesh filters can be cleaned in a standard dishwasher cycle.
Hob2Hood is designed to adjust the hood’s fan and lights according to a compatible hob’s settings. Do not assume it will work with any cooktop: check the hob’s compatibility and operating instructions. AEG describes the feature as automatically controlling the hood’s fan and lights, but actual compatibility depends on the paired appliance. AEG Hob2Hood and rangehood support

- Check the required clearance for your cooking surface: AEG lists 500 mm for electric and 570 mm for gas.
- Choose ducted extraction or recirculation. For ducting, verify the 150 mm route; for recirculation, confirm the two compatible carbon filters and their current availability.
- If you want Hob2Hood, verify that your hob supports it.
- Because AEG lists the model as discontinued, confirm the seller’s condition and warranty terms and check manufacturer support for relevant manuals, repairs, and spare parts.
