There is no defensible, independently tested ranking of nine “best” 5G proxies from the currently available evidence. Provider pages and one review identify several services worth vetting, but they do not provide a uniform, current comparison of carriers, locations, latency, session continuity, rotation, uptime, or task success. Treat the list below as a transparent shortlist and evaluation guide—not a leaderboard.
A 5G label describes an access technology, not a guaranteed end-to-end result. Your target website sees the address used by the mobile connection, while performance depends on the carrier, radio conditions, routing, proxy server, workload, and session policy.
What a mobile proxy does
A mobile proxy forwards your traffic through a phone, cellular modem, or another device connected to a mobile network. The destination receives a request from an IP address associated with that cellular connection instead of the address of your own broadband or data-center connection.
In a hosted service, the provider operates the device, SIM, network connection, and proxy gateway. In a self-hosted arrangement, you supply compatible hardware, a SIM and data plan, and proxy software. Either model can expose a mobile-network address, but neither automatically makes activity anonymous or untraceable. The provider, carrier, proxy software, destination, and any services you log in to may still retain records.

Why “5G” does not prove a faster or more reliable proxy
5G identifies a radio and core-network generation. It does not identify a particular carrier, frequency band, backhaul, congestion level, routing path, gateway, or proxy server. A service can advertise 5G while an individual connection uses 4G, falls back between generations, or experiences latency elsewhere in the path.
The International Telecommunication Union’s 2022 FAQ, summarizing Report ITU-R M.2410, gives IMT-2020 targets of a 20 Gbit/s downlink and 10 Gbit/s uplink peak data rate. The same FAQ describes peak data rate as “Maximum achievable data rate under ideal conditions per user/device (in Gbit/s).” Those are standards figures, not measurements of a hosted proxy.
The FAQ also lists 4 ms radio-network user-plane latency for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and 1 ms for ultra-reliable low-latency communications (URLLC). They are radio-network reference values, not end-to-end latency from your application through a proxy to a website. A realistic buying decision therefore needs measurements made on the exact country, carrier, protocol, target, and workload you care about.
Shortlist of services to investigate
The entries in this table are leads, not ranked winners. Claims are attributed to the surfaced provider or review material, and a missing field means that a comparable, current value was not established.
| Service | What the available material says | Geography or carrier detail | Session information | Independent 5G verification | Current price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SparkProxy | Its technical guide discusses claimed differences between 4G and 5G mobile proxies. | Not stated in the available material. | Not stated. | None established; the explanation is vendor-authored. | Not stated. |
| Decodo | A TechRadar review discusses its mobile-proxy offering. Descriptions and metrics should be treated as review or provider claims rather than tests performed for this article. | Not stated in the available material. | Not stated. | No uniform independent test established. | Not stated. |
| Proxy Tower | Its FAQ describes dedicated 5G modems on US carrier plans. | US-specific scope in the surfaced FAQ; city-level availability is not stated. | Not stated. | Provider claim; no independent verification established. | Not stated. |
| Proxy4G | Its company page describes a SIM-based service and claims coverage of 18 countries and 43 carriers. | The 18-country and 43-carrier figures are provider claims and should be rechecked before purchase. | Not stated. | No independent 5G confirmation established. | Not stated. |
| DataFuel | Its documentation describes mobile proxies with sticky sessions lasting up to 24 hours. | Not stated; the surfaced documentation does not show that every plan or exit is 5G. | Sticky sessions up to 24 hours are documented; rotation triggers and availability by plan are not stated. | No independent verification established. | Not stated. |
Five leads cannot be expanded honestly into nine winners without current, comparable data. A credible nine-provider ranking would require the same test method, dates, locations, carriers, sample sizes, and target tasks for every service.
What to compare before paying
Country, city, and carrier control
“Available in a country” may mean one exit somewhere in that country. Ask whether you can select a city, state, region, or named mobile carrier, and whether the selection is guaranteed at the time you connect. If your task depends on a local website, test from the actual target region rather than assuming national coverage is sufficient.
What the provider means by 5G
Request the evidence behind the label. Useful answers identify the carrier, connection generation at the modem, and whether the exit can fall back to 4G. A provider that cannot disclose how it determines 5G status may still offer a usable mobile proxy, but the label should not be treated as a performance guarantee.

Rotation and sticky sessions
Determine whether an address changes on every request, at a fixed timer, after a bandwidth threshold, manually, or through an API. For login, checkout, or multi-step workflows, you generally need a sticky session so the address remains consistent. Ask for the maximum documented duration, what ends a session, and whether a carrier-side reconnect can change the address unexpectedly.
Protocol and authentication
Check whether the service supports the protocol your client requires, such as HTTP(S) or SOCKS, and whether credentials are supplied as a username and password, an allowlisted IP, or an API token. Confirm TLS handling, connection limits, and whether IPv4 or IPv6 is supplied if your application requires one specifically.

Performance evidence
Ask for measurements made on the intended route, not a headline speed from an ideal laboratory. A useful report states the test date, city, carrier, protocol, target, number of samples, median and worst-case latency, throughput method, error rate, and session duration. Without those details, a percentage or speed claim cannot be compared reliably.
Privacy, sourcing, and permitted use
Read the logging policy and acceptable-use rules. Clarify who controls the SIM and device, how credentials are protected, how long connection records are retained, and whether traffic is shared with other customers. A mobile IP can look different to a destination without removing legal obligations, account-level identification, or the destination’s own detection systems.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsPricing and data limits
Compare services on the same workload and billing period. Include subscription fees, per-gigabyte charges, bandwidth limits, device or port fees, overages, minimum commitments, and the cost of replacing a failed session. No current, comparable prices were established for the shortlist above, so obtain a written quote for your selected country and carrier rather than relying on an old review.
How to interpret a proxy performance claim
Separate four different measurements that are often merged into one marketing number. Radio speed describes the modem’s link to the cellular network. Proxy throughput describes how quickly the provider’s gateway can relay data. End-to-end response time includes your application, the proxy route, and the destination. Task success measures whether the target accepted the request without a timeout, challenge, or rate-limit response. A high result in one category does not prove a high result in the others.
Use medians and high-percentile results rather than a single fastest sample. For example, record the median and 95th-percentile connection time, time to first byte, total response time, and transfer rate. Also record failed connections, unexpected address changes, and HTTP errors. A service that is slightly slower but maintains a stable session may be more useful for a multi-step workflow than one with a higher peak speed and frequent reconnects.
Keep the test endpoint and request size constant. A small text response can make a congested route appear fast, while a large transfer can expose data caps or gateway limits. Run samples at different times because cellular congestion and carrier routing vary. If the provider offers multiple carriers, test each one separately instead of averaging them into a number that hides the difference.

Build a realistic cost comparison
There is no current, comparable price sheet for these five leads, so calculate the cost for your own workload before selecting a plan. Estimate monthly data from request count multiplied by average request and response size, then add protocol overhead and a safety margin for retries. Compare that volume with the plan’s included data and its overage rate.
Include fixed subscription charges, per-gigabyte fees, port or device charges, minimum billing periods, deposits, and charges for reserved or dedicated hardware. A plan that appears inexpensive per gigabyte may cost more if your workflow needs a dedicated carrier, a long sticky session, or several simultaneous connections. Conversely, a small metered plan may be cheaper for occasional location checks than an unlimited subscription with a minimum term.
For self-hosting, account for the modem or phone, compatible bands, SIM activation, recurring data service, power, replacement hardware, and your time maintaining secure proxy software. A single device also limits the number of locations and concurrent sessions. Hosted and self-hosted costs are therefore not directly interchangeable without listing every component.

A practical pre-purchase test
- Define the workload. Record whether you need short API calls, long-lived browser sessions, data collection, account access, media transfers, or another task. Note the expected requests per minute, average response size, concurrency, and required session length.
- Choose the exact location. Specify the country and, when relevant, city or carrier. Ask support to confirm that the selected exit is currently available and whether it can fall back from 5G to 4G.
- Verify the exit. Connect through the proposed endpoint and use an IP- and network-information check supplied by the provider or your own controlled system. Record the observed address, autonomous-system or carrier information when available, protocol, and timestamp.
- Measure repeated samples. Run the same request at several times of day. Capture connection time, time to first byte, total response time, errors, and throughput. Report median and high-percentile results instead of a single best reading.
- Test session persistence. Start a sticky session, make repeated requests over the period your workflow needs, and record every address change or disconnect. Repeat the test after an idle interval because some systems expire inactive sessions.
- Exercise rotation controls. Test per-request, timed, manual, and API rotation separately if offered. Confirm that a requested rotation actually changes the address and does not merely recycle the same carrier gateway.
- Test the real target lawfully. Use a permitted staging endpoint or a small, authorized sample from the production target. Measure success rate and rate-limit responses; do not infer suitability from a generic speed test.
Keep the date, location, carrier, plan, endpoint, client settings, and sample count with your results. Mobile conditions change, so a test is a snapshot rather than a permanent guarantee.
Choose session behavior by task
| Workload | Usually preferable behavior | Reason to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Independent, stateless requests | Rotation per request or on a short timer | Frequent changes can trigger limits or additional verification on some destinations. |
| Login and account navigation | Sticky address for the complete workflow | An address change can invalidate a session or look anomalous. |
| Long-running browser automation | Documented sticky duration longer than the run | Carrier reconnects and idle expiry can end the session unexpectedly. |
| Location-sensitive testing | Selectable city and carrier with a repeatable endpoint | A country-only pool may not represent the local network experience. |
| High-volume transfers | Published throughput and concurrency limits | Mobile plans and gateways may impose data or connection caps. |
Hosted service or self-hosted mobile connection?
Hosted proxy
A hosted service removes the need to operate hardware, SIM provisioning, cellular coverage, port forwarding, and proxy software. It is the simpler path when you need several locations or an API-controlled pool. You still have to verify sourcing, logging, carrier selection, session controls, and acceptable use.
Self-hosted modem or phone
A cellular modem or compatible phone can provide the mobile link for a proxy you operate yourself. You need hardware that supports the carrier’s bands, a compatible SIM and data plan, sufficient signal, power, a reachable network path, and proxy software configured securely. Data-plan terms may restrict tethering or server use, and a single device provides limited geographic diversity. Self-hosting is therefore an engineering project, not a replacement for a hosted subscription in every case.
Common failure modes and fixes
The endpoint is advertised as 5G but reports 4G
Check whether the plan guarantees radio generation or merely offers access to a mobile network. Ask whether the modem can fall back during congestion and whether the service exposes current radio status. If your task does not require 5G specifically, compare the measured route and success rate rather than the label alone.
The IP changes during a sticky session
Confirm the session identifier, expiration policy, idle timeout, and maximum duration. Reconnect using the provider’s documented sticky-session format and test with lower concurrency. If the carrier itself reassigns the address, request a different device or session type.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Latency is high despite a strong signal
Separate radio delay from proxy and destination delay by measuring each leg where your tooling permits. Try another carrier or city, test at a different time, and check whether the endpoint is geographically distant from the target. A strong handset signal does not guarantee uncongested backhaul or efficient routing.
Requests receive challenges or blocks
Verify that the activity is allowed, slow the request rate, preserve cookies and session state where appropriate, and use a stable address for multi-step actions. A mobile ASN is not a guarantee of acceptance; destinations apply their own authentication, reputation, and rate controls.
Credentials or traffic are exposed
Use encrypted management connections, unique credentials, IP allowlisting when available, and the minimum permissions required by the client. Rotate tokens after sharing them with support, and avoid sending sensitive data through an operator whose retention and access practices you cannot establish.

Are 5G proxies always faster than 4G proxies?
No. 5G is an access-generation label. Congestion, carrier routing, gateway capacity, distance to the target, and fallback to 4G can make a particular 5G-labeled route slower than another mobile connection.

- Unlocked, portable hot spot for 5G and 4G LTE around the world, certified with AT&T requires a 5G compatible SIM card. Ask your 5G wireless network provider for the best 5G data plan for your needs
What are mobile proxies?
They are proxies that forward requests through a phone, modem, or other device using a cellular network. The destination sees an IP associated with that mobile connection.
Can I choose a specific carrier?
Only if the provider exposes carrier selection and has inventory for the requested location. Ask for the named carrier, city or region, current availability, and whether the selection is guaranteed for the whole session.
How long can a sticky session last?
It varies by provider and plan. DataFuel documentation describes sticky sessions of up to 24 hours, but that is a provider-documented limit, not a universal standard. Confirm idle timeouts, maximum duration, and carrier reconnect behavior.
Does a mobile IP make me anonymous?
No. The proxy operator, carrier, destination, account provider, and application can retain identifying records. A different IP address does not remove legal obligations or make activity untraceable.
Do ITU’s 20 Gbit/s and 4 ms figures describe proxy performance?
No. They are IMT-2020 standards context: peak rates under ideal conditions and radio-network latency references. They are not end-to-end measurements for a hosted proxy.
What do I need to run my own mobile proxy?
You need compatible modem or phone hardware, a SIM and data plan that permit the intended use, adequate signal and power, a reachable network path, and securely configured proxy software. A self-hosted setup does not automatically provide multiple locations or carriers.
Should I buy an unlimited plan?
Not automatically. Compare included data, overage terms, concurrency, session requirements, and the actual volume of your workload. A metered plan may be more economical for occasional testing, while heavy transfers require clear throughput and data-limit terms.
A defensible buying decision
- Reject any claim that treats “5G” as proof of speed, uptime, or target-site success.
- Shortlist providers that can name the relevant country, carrier, protocol, session policy, and data limits.
- Obtain a trial or small allocation and run the same dated test against your authorized workload.
- Record failures as carefully as successes, including address changes, timeouts, challenge pages, and support response.
- Buy the plan whose measured behavior and terms fit the workload, even if its radio label is less impressive.
The available material identifies five services to investigate, but it does not establish nine independently comparable winners. Until providers publish current, location-specific terms and a uniform benchmark is run, a transparent shortlist and your own dated test are more reliable than a fabricated “best nine” ranking.

What are mobile proxies?
They forward traffic through a phone, modem, or other device connected to a cellular network, so the destination sees a mobile-network IP.
Can I select a carrier or city?
Only when the provider offers that control and has current inventory. Confirm the named carrier, location, and availability before purchasing.
How long can a sticky session last?
Limits vary. DataFuel documents sessions up to 24 hours, but idle timeouts and carrier reconnects can end a session sooner.
Does a mobile IP make activity anonymous?
No. Operators, carriers, destinations, and logged-in services may retain records, and legal obligations still apply.
Are ITU’s 20 Gbit/s and 4 ms figures proxy benchmarks?
No. They are idealized IMT-2020 standards and radio-network references, not end-to-end hosted-proxy measurements.
What is required for a self-hosted mobile proxy?
Compatible hardware, a permitted SIM and data plan, signal and power, a reachable network path, and secure proxy software.
Is an unlimited plan always the best value?
No. Compare actual data volume, overage rates, concurrency, session needs, and minimum commitments for your workload.
The Bottom Line
Choose a mobile proxy by verified carrier and location coverage, session behavior, lawful task success, privacy terms, and total workload cost—not by the 5G badge alone. The five named services are leads to test, not proven winners, and current evidence does not justify a ranked top nine.
