Ray-Ban Meta glasses combine a camera, open-ear audio, voice controls and Meta AI for hands-free photos and videos, questions about what you see, translation, calls and messages, and quick tasks such as timers and reminders. Which features work depends on the glasses model, your setup, region and connected services.
1. Capture photos and video without holding your phone
You can use the glasses to take hands-free photos and videos while keeping your phone in your pocket. Ray-Ban’s US feature page lists a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, 3K Ultra HD video and a 100-degree field of view. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. Gen 2 product information also lists capture modes and storage details; check the product page for the exact model you are considering.
Ray-Ban’s US feature page describes capture features, while its US product page provides Gen 2 product information.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2. Ask Meta AI about something in view
When you want context about an object, sign or scene, you can ask Meta AI a spoken question. Ray-Ban gives examples such as “Hey Meta, describe what I’m seeing,” asking about a monument, translating visible text or identifying a plant. The glasses capture and send a photo to Meta’s cloud for AI processing, then deliver an audio response.

Ray-Ban’s FAQ states: “When you ask Meta AI questions about what you’re looking at, your glasses will send a photo to Meta’s cloud to be processed with AI.” Ray-Ban also says photos processed with AI are stored and used to improve Meta products and train Meta AI with help from trained reviewers. Consider this cloud processing and data use before asking about sensitive documents, private spaces or other people.
See Ray-Ban’s US FAQ for its explanation of visual questions and data handling.
