The best TV buying site depends on what you need: measured model testing, an editorial shortlist, a broad brand report card, or help understanding one manufacturer’s products. Use the five sites below as complementary research tools—not as a universal ranking—and verify any model against your room, budget, country, and viewing habits before buying.
Which TV website should you start with?
Start with a source whose evidence matches your question. RTINGS is oriented toward model reviews, testing explanations, budget recommendations, and comparison tools. TechRadar and What Hi-Fi? offer editorial buying advice and curated picks. Tom’s Guide takes a brand-by-brand report-card approach, although its current scoring should be checked directly. LG’s guide is useful for learning about LG’s product categories and terminology, but it is written by a manufacturer rather than as an independent cross-brand comparison.

How to use these sites to choose a TV
1. Define the room and screen size
Measure the space and decide where the TV will sit or hang before choosing a model. LG’s guide explicitly treats room and size as part of the decision. A site’s suggested pick cannot account for your viewing distance, furniture, or installation constraints unless you check those details yourself.
2. Match the display to the room and content
Consider whether you mainly watch films in a darker room, watch daytime television in bright conditions, or split time among different uses. TechRadar’s guide contrasts OLED’s strong contrast with the brightness advantages it describes for LED and Mini LED sets in brighter rooms. Treat this as a starting point: compare the exact models you are considering and the conditions described in their reviews.

3. Check gaming and motion requirements
A higher refresh rate can matter for gaming and motion-sensitive viewing, but it can also raise the price. Verify the exact model’s supported inputs and refresh modes; a headline refresh-rate claim does not by itself establish what a particular console, PC, or input can use.
4. Decide whether built-in sound is enough
TV audio and installation needs differ by set and room. A soundbar is an optional add-on if the built-in sound does not meet your needs, not a required part of every TV purchase. Likewise, consider a wall mount only if wall installation suits your space and the set’s mounting requirements.

5. Confirm the exact model and current availability
Before buying, check the review date, full model number and suffix, local availability, current price, and stock in your country. Recommendations can change: RTINGS’ dated update log records model substitutions during 2026. The same product family may have region-specific versions, so do not assume a review for one suffix applies to every variant.
What other sources can add
Consumer Reports may be worth consulting if brand ratings and reliability-oriented consumer testing are priorities. Its 2026 best-brand coverage appeared in search results, but detailed current methodology and article contents should be checked directly before using them to make a decision.

Use review and comparison sites to weigh models against one another; use a manufacturer guide to understand that manufacturer’s product definitions and setup advice. No single source answers every question about which TV to buy, what size fits your room, which screen suits films, or which features matter for gaming.
