OpenClaw’s surrounding projects do different jobs: some add skills and plugins, while others provide crawlers, agent services, or native tools. The five picks below are an editorial shortlist—not an official ranking—chosen to show useful, distinct ways to extend or complement the core assistant.
What counts as an OpenClaw project?
OpenClaw describes itself as an open-source assistant that runs on a user’s computer and connects through messaging channels and native apps. A single Gateway can be configured for personal use or a team deployment; the project says state, memory, and credentials live on the user’s hardware. That is the project’s description, not an independent security audit: assess your own configuration and any connected services separately. OpenClaw’s main repository
Projects around it are not all alternative assistants. They include extension registries, crawlers, developer infrastructure, agent services, and desktop tools. The official OpenClaw ecosystem directory described 65 associated open-source projects when accessed on October 7, 2026; that is an access-date count, not a dated publication figure or a quality ranking. The OpenClaw GitHub organization showed 96 repositories on the same date, a dynamic count that likewise says nothing by itself about quality.

Five OpenClaw projects worth exploring
This is a curated selection, not a ranked top five. It favors projects that illustrate distinct ecosystem roles and have a clear description in the official directory or organization. The directory’s descriptions are project-provided; they are not independent evaluations. Check each repository for current activity, compatibility, installation instructions, and data handling before adopting it.

1. ClawHub: discover skills and plugins
ClawHub is described as a registry for discovering and installing community extensions, and the OpenClaw organization labels its repository “Skill + Plugin Registry for OpenClaw.” It is the most direct starting point if you want to add capabilities rather than deploy another service. Review an extension’s source, permissions, dependencies, and maintenance before installing it; a registry listing is not a security endorsement.
2. ClawSweeper: triage GitHub work
The ecosystem directory describes ClawSweeper as helping triage issues and pull requests. That places it in the agent-and-service category: it addresses repository workflow, rather than serving as a new general-purpose assistant. Confirm its current setup requirements and the permissions it needs before connecting it to a repository.
Rank #2
- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
3. Crabbox: disposable development environments
Crabbox is described as providing disposable development boxes. That makes it relevant when you want a separate environment for development work instead of running every experiment in your everyday setup. The directory description alone does not establish isolation guarantees, supported providers, or current installation steps, so check those details in the project’s own documentation.

gitcrawl is one of the local-first crawlers in the ecosystem. The directory identifies its focus as GitHub issues and pull requests; related examples include discrawl for Discord archives and slacrawl for Slack archives. “Local-first” is not a substitute for checking implementation details: verify platform support, storage behavior, and data handling in the repository before using it with sensitive material.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
5. Peekaboo: capture macOS screenshots
The OpenClaw organization describes Peekaboo as a macOS command-line tool with an optional MCP server for capturing application or system screenshots. It is a native tool, not a competing assistant or a community-maintained project. The organization also lists openclaw-windows-node as a Windows companion suite, illustrating that the ecosystem includes platform-specific tooling as well as services and extensions.
How to choose among the projects
- For add-on capabilities: start with ClawHub, then inspect individual skills or plugins before installing.
- For repository workflow: investigate ClawSweeper if issue and pull-request triage is the task you want to address.
- For development isolation: look at Crabbox, but verify its current isolation model and environment requirements directly.
- For project data: consider gitcrawl for GitHub issues and pull requests, and check what it stores and supports.
- For desktop screenshots: Peekaboo is the macOS-specific option among these picks; the organization separately lists a Windows companion suite.
Before relying on any project, check its latest commits or releases, open issues, documentation, supported OpenClaw version, and installation instructions. Repository stars and organization repository counts change over time and are not evidence of reliability.

Where to find more OpenClaw projects
The official ecosystem directory groups projects across agents and services, skills and plugins, local-first crawlers, SDKs, and native tooling. Its descriptions are useful for discovery, but not independent product evaluations. For a broader community-maintained directory, Awesome OpenClaw Apps sorts entries into areas including forks and frameworks, skills and plugins, MCP integrations, security, developer tools, infrastructure, dashboards, messaging extensions, and learning resources. Treat its entries as leads to verify, not as an audited ranking.
