What “hot-swappable” does—and does not—mean
Hot-swap sockets let you replace compatible switches without soldering, but compatibility depends on the keyboard’s sockets and the switch family. For the Q1 Pro, Keychron says: “You can hot-swap every switch on the Q1 Pro with almost all the 3pin and 5pin MX style mechanical switches on the market (including Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Panda, etc.) without soldering required.” That is Keychron’s manufacturer statement, not independent testing or a guarantee that every switch will work. Decide between assembled and barebone

A practical pre-purchase checklist
- Choose the layout first. Decide whether you need a number pad, function row, arrow keys, or a smaller footprint, then confirm the exact layout and regional arrangement.
