Short answer: the best projector for Android depends on whether you want a built-in Google TV streamer, reliable casting from an Android phone, or a portable unit that can run away from an outlet. The Dangbei DBOX02 Pro is the strongest bright-room home choice, the XGIMI MoGo 4 is the practical portable pick, the BenQ GP520 offers the broadest physical connectivity, the Epson Lifestudio Flex Plus is a flexible second-screen option, and the soundcore Nebula X1 is the premium high-brightness candidate. These are use-case recommendations rather than a definitive laboratory ranking: the available coverage does not provide one independent, head-to-head test of all five.
“For Android” can mean two different things. A projector may run Google TV or Android TV itself, giving you apps on the projector, or it may accept video cast from an Android phone. Those functions overlap but are not interchangeable. Check both before buying.
Quick comparison of the five candidates
| Model | Best fit | Platform and Android route | Reported picture and brightness | Portability and power | Inputs and setup | Price or availability note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XGIMI MoGo 4 | Travel, bedroom and occasional outdoor use | Google TV; Google Cast reported by What Hi-Fi? | 1080p; 450 ISO lumens claimed by What Hi-Fi? | Battery-powered; 2.5 hours claimed in Eco mode, with less runtime in Standard mode; USB-C power-bank support | Rotating stand; portable design | Verify current regional price and stock |
| Dangbei DBOX02 Pro | Bright home cinema or living room | Google TV with licensed Netflix | 4K UHD; approximately 2,000 ISO lumens reported by Android Authority | Home-focused chassis; battery duration not stated | Autofocus, auto-keystone and HDMI 2.1 | Android Authority reported a $1,599 MSRP at publication; price is time-sensitive |
| soundcore Nebula X1 | Premium 4K system where brightness matters | Google TV and Chromecast | 4K; 3,500 ANSI lumens claimed in soundcore’s manufacturer guide | Battery duration not stated in the cited guide | HDMI 2.1; setup and performance claims are manufacturer claims | Approximately $2,999 in soundcore’s comparison table; verify current price |
| Epson Lifestudio Flex Plus | Flexible home projector or TV replacement supplement | Built-in Google TV | 4K PRO-UHD; 1,000 lumens for color and white reported by Android Authority | Battery duration not stated | Model-specific setup and inputs should be confirmed before purchase | $999.99 MSRP listed by Android Authority; verify the exact model and current price |
| BenQ GP520 | Portable 4K use with many source devices | Google TV | 4K; 2,600 ANSI lumens reported by TechRadar | Portable; battery duration not stated | Two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one with eARC, plus USB-C DisplayPort input | Current regional price and stock were not established |
Brightness figures in this table use different standards. ANSI lumens, ISO lumens and an unspecified “lumens” figure are not interchangeable, so the numbers should not be treated as a single league table. Room lighting, screen size, image mode and distance also change the result you see.
What “for Android” should mean before you buy
Built-in Google TV
A projector with Google TV can run supported streaming apps without a phone or separate stick. This is the simplest arrangement for a permanent setup: connect the projector to Wi-Fi, sign in, install or open the available apps and use the supplied remote. App availability, certification and menus can vary by country and can change after a software update, so confirm the exact regional model.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Casting from an Android phone
Casting sends content from a compatible phone app to the projector. The phone and projector normally need to be on the same Wi-Fi network, or on the phone’s hotspot when the projector supports that arrangement. The phone’s Cast menu location differs by Android manufacturer and software version. Some Android devices do not support Chromecast at all.
soundcore Support describes the capability this way: The projector supports Chromecast, which means you can mirror or stream videos from your Android devices that support Chromecast.
The practical qualification is “that support Chromecast.” A Google TV label by itself does not prove that every phone, app or regional firmware build will cast.
Casting is not the same as unrestricted screen mirroring
With Chromecast, a supported app usually hands playback to the projector rather than sending every pixel of the phone’s screen. soundcore’s instructions cite YouTube and Prime Video as examples of Chromecast-compatible apps. They also state: Copyrighted content from Netflix CANNOT be mirrored or screencast.
That warning applies to the described mirroring or screencasting method; it does not mean Netflix can never play on any projector. Use the projector’s licensed Netflix app when available, or verify a different, authorized playback route.

1. XGIMI MoGo 4: the portable Android pick
The MoGo 4 is the most sensible choice when the projector must move between rooms or travel. Android Authority describes a 1080p, battery-powered Google TV model with a rotating stand. What Hi-Fi? reports Google TV, Google Cast, a claimed 450 ISO lumens, up to 2.5 hours in Eco mode and USB-C power-bank support.
Rank #2
- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Why it fits portable use
- The rotating stand can simplify aiming at a wall or ceiling without carrying a separate tripod.
- Google TV reduces dependence on a phone for supported streaming apps.
- USB-C power-bank support gives you an option when there is no convenient mains outlet.
- A 1080p image is a reasonable match for a small or medium portable screen, where a larger 4K image would add cost and power demand.
Trade-offs
The same compact design that makes the MoGo 4 easy to carry limits its bright-room performance. Android Authority notes the usual ultra-portable limitation in bright daylight. The 2.5-hour figure is an Eco-mode claim reported by What Hi-Fi?; Standard mode shortens runtime, and neither figure should be treated as a guaranteed real-world result for every brightness setting, battery age or source.
Choose the MoGo 4 if portability, built-in apps and occasional off-grid viewing matter more than maximum brightness. For a sunlit living room or a very large screen, move up to a brighter home model.
2. Dangbei DBOX02 Pro: the brighter home option
The DBOX02 Pro is aimed at viewers who want a Google TV projector to serve as a living-room display. Android Authority describes it as a 4K UHD model with licensed Netflix, approximately 2,000 ISO lumens, autofocus, auto-keystone correction and HDMI 2.1. Android Authority reported a $1,599 MSRP at publication; treat that as a dated list price, not a guaranteed current transaction price.
Why it stands out
- Licensed Netflix avoids the specific problem of trying to mirror protected Netflix video from a phone.
- Autofocus and auto-keystone can reduce setup time when the projector is moved or placed off-center.
- Approximately 2,000 ISO lumens is a substantially different brightness specification from the 450 ISO lumens reported for the MoGo 4, although room, image mode and screen size still determine whether either is bright enough.
- HDMI 2.1 provides a modern physical input for a console, computer or external streaming device.
What to verify
Confirm the exact regional version, current app certification and HDMI feature behavior before paying a premium. The available reporting is a product review and buying-guide description, not an independent comparison against every model in this list. Battery operation is not stated, so plan this as a mains-powered home projector.

3. soundcore Nebula X1: the premium high-brightness candidate
soundcore’s manufacturer guide lists the Nebula X1 with Google TV, Chromecast, HDMI 2.1, 4K resolution and 3,500 ANSI lumens, with an approximate price of $2,999 in its comparison table. Those brightness, feature and performance figures are manufacturer claims, not independent measurements in the supplied coverage.
Who should consider it
The X1 is for buyers who want a premium 4K smart projector and are willing to pay for a high stated brightness rating. Google TV handles native app use, while Chromecast provides a route for compatible Android phones. HDMI 2.1 also leaves room for a game console, disc player or separate streaming box.
Important qualification on brightness
“3,500 ANSI lumens” should be read as a measurement using the ANSI standard reported by the manufacturer. It cannot be compared numerically with the DBOX02 Pro’s approximately 2,000 ISO lumens or the Epson’s 1,000-lumen color-and-white figure as though all three were measured identically. If brightness is your deciding factor, compare the same standard, screen size and room conditions, and look for a return policy that covers a disappointing result.

Where it makes sense
This model suits a household that wants a large image for films, sports or occasional presentations without committing to a dedicated theater room. Built-in Google TV provides a straightforward app-first experience, while the 4K PRO-UHD label indicates a 4K-class projection system. The cited material does not establish a native pixel count or battery runtime, so do not assume either from the marketing label.
Questions to answer before purchase
- Which HDMI and USB inputs are present on the exact regional unit?
- Is the app you need certified on that region’s Google TV software?
- Will 1,000 lumens be sufficient for your intended screen size and daytime light?
- Do you need Chromecast from an Android phone, or is native app playback enough?
5. BenQ GP520: the portable 4K option for multiple sources
TechRadar reports a 4K BenQ GP520 with 2,600 ANSI lumens, Google TV, two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one HDMI input with eARC and a USB-C DisplayPort input. TechRadar’s test assessment describes it as bright and crisp but limited to 60 Hz. The brightness and picture observations are TechRadar’s reported test results; they are not firsthand measurements for this article.
Why its inputs matter
Two HDMI inputs let you leave more than one source connected, such as a game console and a streaming device. eARC can simplify audio routing to a compatible soundbar or receiver. USB-C DisplayPort input can accept a compatible computer or phone output, but USB-C on the source must support video; a charging-only phone port will not produce an image.
The 60 Hz limit
At 60 Hz, the GP520 is suited to films, television, presentations and ordinary console play. Buyers seeking higher-refresh-rate gaming should treat the limit as a decisive specification rather than assume that HDMI 2.1 automatically means high-frame-rate output.

Set up Android casting correctly
- Confirm compatibility. Check that the projector explicitly lists Google Cast or Chromecast, not merely Google TV. Confirm that your Android phone supports Chromecast and that the app you want to use offers a Cast button.
- Join the same network. Connect the projector and phone to the same Wi-Fi network. If the projector supports it, the phone’s hotspot can provide the shared network when travelling. A guest network, VPN, client isolation or weak signal can prevent discovery.
- Open a supported app. Start YouTube, Prime Video or another app that lists Chromecast support. Look for the Cast icon, select the projector and wait for playback controls to appear on the phone.
- Use native playback for protected services. If a service blocks mirroring, open its licensed app on the projector or use an authorized external playback device connected by HDMI. Do not assume a generic screen-mirroring function can bypass content protection.
- Adjust the image after connection. Run autofocus or manual focus, correct keystone only as much as necessary, and place the projector square to the screen when possible. Heavy digital keystone correction can reduce usable sharpness and image area.
- End the session from the app. Tap the Cast icon again and choose disconnect, or stop playback before switching networks. This prevents the next person on the same network from unexpectedly taking over the session.
Using HDMI or a separate streaming device
Every model should be checked for the exact HDMI version and supported signal, but HDMI offers a useful fallback when a projector has no suitable built-in app. Connect a compatible streaming device to HDMI, select the corresponding input and complete that device’s Wi-Fi and account setup. This can provide native playback on the external device.
HDMI is not proof that any Android phone can output video over a cable. The phone must support a wired display mode, the adapter must match its port and protocol, and the app may still restrict protected content. A USB-C connector alone does not guarantee DisplayPort video. The GP520’s USB-C DisplayPort input is useful only with a source that actually sends DisplayPort video.
Brightness, resolution and room planning
Read the brightness unit
ANSI lumens and ISO lumens describe different measurement standards. A listing that says only “lumens” leaves the method unspecified. The figures in the candidate list are therefore directional specifications, not a scientifically normalized ranking. In a dark room, a lower-rated portable projector can look satisfying; in daylight, the same image may appear washed out.

Match image size to light
As the projected image grows, the same light output is spread over a larger area. Closing curtains, reducing nearby lamps and using a screen with appropriate gain can matter as much as choosing a higher number. A compact battery model is usually easier to live with in a dim bedroom than in a bright lounge.
Understand “4K” wording
“4K UHD,” “4K” and “4K PRO-UHD” are the labels reported for the candidates, but they do not by themselves state the native imaging-chip resolution or the way pixels are produced. Ask the manufacturer for native resolution and any pixel-shifting method if fine text, computer work or close viewing is important.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The projector does not appear in the Cast list | Different Wi-Fi networks, unsupported phone, disabled Cast service or network isolation | Put both devices on the same non-isolated network, restart Wi-Fi, update software and confirm Chromecast support on the phone and projector |
| YouTube casts but another app does not | The app lacks Chromecast support or uses a different authorization path | Use the app’s native projector version, an authorized HDMI device or the service’s documented casting method |
| Netflix shows a black screen during mirroring | Protected content blocks the described mirroring route | Use licensed native Netflix playback or another authorized device; do not treat this as proof that all Netflix playback is impossible |
| The image is dim in daytime | Room light, large screen, unsuitable image mode or brightness unit being misread | Darken the room, reduce image size, select an appropriate mode and compare ratings only within the same measurement standard |
| USB-C produces no picture | The phone or computer’s USB-C port does not support DisplayPort video, or the adapter is incompatible | Check source specifications and use HDMI or a compatible video adapter |
| Battery ends sooner than expected | Higher Standard-mode brightness, wireless activity, speaker volume or battery condition | Use Eco mode when practical, lower brightness and carry a compatible power bank for models that support USB-C power |
| Text looks soft after auto-keystone | Projector is off-axis and digital correction is scaling the image | Physically reposition the projector square to the screen, then refocus and minimize keystone correction |
Buying checklist for an Android projector
- Define the Android job: native Google TV apps, phone casting, wired phone display, or all three.
- Verify certification: especially Netflix and any service you use regularly.
- Confirm the casting protocol: Google Cast or Chromecast should be stated explicitly if wireless Android casting is essential.
- Check the phone: some Android devices do not support Chromecast, and USB-C does not automatically mean video output.
- Compare like with like: record ANSI, ISO or unspecified lumens separately instead of converting them informally.
- Measure the room: decide screen size, throw distance, ceiling or shelf position and expected daytime light.
- Choose power deliberately: battery duration, Eco-mode conditions and USB-C power-bank support matter for portable use.
- Count inputs: include HDMI quantity, eARC, USB-C DisplayPort and any audio output you actually need.
- Check refresh rate: the GP520’s reported 60 Hz limit illustrates why HDMI 2.1 alone does not promise high-refresh gaming.
- Recheck changing details: prices, stock, app certification, firmware and regional specifications can change after a guide is published.
Bottom line
Pick the XGIMI MoGo 4 for genuine portability, the Dangbei DBOX02 Pro for a brighter home setup with licensed Netflix, the BenQ GP520 for multiple wired sources, the Epson Lifestudio Flex Plus for a flexible Google TV second screen, or the soundcore Nebula X1 when its premium positioning and manufacturer-rated brightness fit your budget. Whichever model you choose, verify the exact regional specification and test the Android app or casting route you depend on before assuming “Google TV” means universal phone mirroring.
