ASUS laptop owners may run into charging or battery-life trouble, loud fans, display faults, connection or input problems, and freezes or unresponsive screens. These are practical troubleshooting categories—not a ranking of the most frequent complaints: ASUS’s support pages do not publish complaint rates. The right checks depend on your model, region, and the features it supports.
1. Charging trouble or short battery life
First distinguish among three symptoms: the laptop will not power on or charge, it charges slowly or loses charge while plugged in, or it runs down quickly when unplugged. ASUS recommends checking the supplied adapter and cable for damage and making sure connections are secure. If you are trying USB-C charging, confirm in your model’s manual that the particular port supports power input; not every USB-C port does. See ASUS’s battery and charging troubleshooting guide.
A charge stopping near 95% does not necessarily indicate a fault. ASUS describes this as possible battery protection behavior, and supported Battery Care settings may limit the charge to 80% or 60%. If the complaint is short runtime rather than charging, close unnecessary apps and check screen brightness, keyboard backlight, and connected peripherals. Use MyASUS battery diagnostics if your model includes them; ASUS also has a separate short-battery-life troubleshooting guide.

2. Overheating or loud fan behavior
Fans can become noticeably louder during games, video editing, or other demanding work because they respond to CPU and GPU temperature. Noise or heat can also be affected by blocked vents, dust or debris, the surrounding conditions, or fan wear. ASUS’s overheating and fan guide for Windows 11 and 10 recommends keeping airflow clear and following its model-appropriate update and troubleshooting steps.

- Use the laptop on a firm surface and keep its vents unobstructed.
- Update BIOS, Windows, and drivers following ASUS guidance for your model.
- If your laptop offers fan modes, select one appropriate to the task.
- Run MyASUS fan diagnostics if available. An abnormal result is a reason to contact support or an authorized service provider.
A stand or cooling pad may help airflow, but it is not a remedy for a failed fan.
3. Display problems
Flicker, artifacts, a blurry or distorted image, and a blank internal screen can have different causes. One useful comparison is whether the symptom also appears in BIOS. ASUS says that a display problem that persists in BIOS may indicate a hardware issue; if the BIOS display is normal, software troubleshooting may be appropriate. Follow the model-specific steps in ASUS’s internal-display troubleshooting guide for Windows 11 and 10. Persistent symptoms that suggest hardware trouble should be evaluated by an authorized repair center.

4. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, keyboard, or peripheral trouble
A lost Wi-Fi connection, Bluetooth pairing failure, unresponsive keyboard or touchpad, or a USB/Type-C or audio problem is a broad class of symptoms, not one diagnosis. ASUS lists these as distinct support categories, alongside wired networking and storage, in its laptop FAQ index. Start with the guide for your exact model and symptom, then determine whether the issue follows the network, driver, connected device, or laptop hardware. The support index shows that ASUS provides guidance for these issues; it does not indicate how often they occur.

A freeze or black or white screen may follow a software change, occur under heat or workload, or point to a hardware concern. ASUS recommends disconnecting external devices, updating BIOS, Windows, and drivers, and running supported MyASUS hardware diagnostics. If the issue began after an update or installation, consider rolling back or removing that change. The step-by-step guidance is in ASUS’s freezes and unresponsiveness guide for Windows 11 and 10.

How to narrow down the cause
Before choosing a repair or replacement, compare the symptom across the conditions that can change it:
- Does it happen every time, or only intermittently?
- Does it occur in BIOS, or only in Windows or a particular application?
- Does it change with workload, the charger, or connected peripherals?
- Do diagnostics supported on your model report a hardware concern?
- Does a reversible setting or driver check resolve it?
Ports, MyASUS features, charging behavior, and repair options vary by model and region. Check your model’s manual and local ASUS support guidance before relying on a port, diagnostic, or service option.
