The best all-in-one printer depends on what you print and scan: the Epson EcoTank ET-4950 is a feature-rich tank option, the Canon Color imageCLASS MF753Cdw II is aimed at fast color-document work, and three alternatives suit value, photos, and heavier business use. Current 2026 buying guides do not agree on one universal winner: TechRadar selects the Epson, while Tom’s Guide selects the Canon. These are US-facing model names; check local equivalents, availability, and supplies before buying.
Which all-in-one printer should you choose?
An all-in-one printer typically combines printing, scanning, and copying, and some models also fax. Confirm the functions and connections on the exact model and regional version you plan to buy. The five picks below serve different workloads rather than representing interchangeable options.
| Model | Best fit | Key trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Epson EcoTank ET-4950 | Feature-rich tank all-in-one | No multipurpose tray; limited specialty connections and heavy-paper scanning |
| Canon Color imageCLASS MF753Cdw II | Fast color-laser document work | Expensive toner and substantial weight |
| Brother INKvestment MFC-T780DW | Value and low estimated ink cost | ADF does not duplex scan or copy |
| Canon MegaTank Pixma G3290 | Affordable tank printer with photo appeal | Choose it for its ink/photo use case, not as a substitute for a document-focused laser |
| Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850 | Higher-volume business workloads | High initial cost and occasional paper-feed issues |
What are the five best all-in-one printer picks?
Epson EcoTank ET-4950: a feature-rich tank pick
TechRadar names the ET-4950 its overall pick. Its review describes a print, scan, copy, and fax machine with automatic duplex printing and scanning, a 30-sheet automatic document feeder (ADF), and 250-sheet paper capacity. The reviewer reports strong text and photo results and low running costs. The review also notes that it lacks a USB host port, NFC, Bluetooth, and a multipurpose tray, and cannot scan heavy paper. Read TechRadar’s ET-4950 coverage for its full assessment.
Canon Color imageCLASS MF753Cdw II: fast color-laser documents
Tom’s Guide names this model its overall pick, emphasizing fast printing, scanning, and copying alongside output quality. It offers print, scan, copy, and fax, a 5-inch color touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB-A. Its trade-offs are expensive toner and substantial weight. It may suit document-heavy work better than photo-first use. See Tom’s Guide’s review and test details.

Brother INKvestment MFC-T780DW: value with an important ADF limitation
Tom’s Guide identifies this as its value choice and estimates running costs at 0.3 cents per black page and 0.94 cents per color page based on its lab testing. Those are the publication’s estimates, not guaranteed costs; actual expense depends on usage and supplies. Its 20-sheet ADF does not scan or copy both sides through the feeder, and the printer lacks a USB thumb-drive port. If multi-page two-sided scanning is part of your routine, that limitation matters more than duplex printing capability.
Canon MegaTank Pixma G3290: affordable tank ink with photo appeal
Tom’s Guide recommends the G3290 for buyers seeking an affordable ink all-in-one, especially for photos. The guide estimates color printing at about 0.9 cents per page and compares that with a 1.9-cent category average; both figures are its estimates, not universal market costs. Consider whether photo output and tank-ink economics fit your needs, and compare the device’s features with your document workflow before choosing it.

Epson EcoTank Pro ET-5850: higher-volume business work
Tom’s Guide positions the ET-5850 for business and reports print, scan, copy, and fax, plus Wi-Fi, USB-A, Ethernet, two 250-sheet paper cassettes, and a 50-sheet ADF. The review says it handles more than 3,000 pages per month and highlights speed and low ink costs; it also flags a high initial price and occasional paper-feed issues. Treat the monthly-volume figure as Tom’s Guide’s workload context, not a universal rating for every office or usage pattern.
How should you choose between a tank inkjet and a laser all-in-one?
Choose a tank inkjet when color and photos matter
Inkjet and tank models are sensible candidates when you need color graphics or photos. Tank printers can cost more upfront while offering potentially low per-page ink costs. Those savings depend on printing habits and the cost of supplies, so reviewer estimates should be treated as estimates rather than a promise of ownership cost. For photo work, compare the specific ink system and output quality; an all-in-one’s convenience does not make it equivalent to a dedicated photo printer.

Choose a laser when speed and document volume lead
A laser model can be a better fit for fast, document-heavy workflows. Compare its purchase price and toner expense with the work you expect it to handle. The MF753Cdw II is Tom’s Guide’s overall choice, while its review explicitly notes expensive toner; the right choice therefore depends on whether its speed and document strengths justify the cost for you. Digital Camera World’s 2026 guide also discusses all-in-one choices for home-office and hybrid-work needs.

ADF capacity and duplex scanning
An ADF saves time when scanning, copying, or faxing multiple pages. Check its sheet capacity and whether it automatically handles both sides. Duplex printing and duplex scanning are separate capabilities: a printer can print on both sides without scanning both sides through its feeder. The Brother MFC-T780DW is a concrete example of that distinction, since Tom’s Guide says its ADF does not support duplex scan or copy.

Paper capacity, speed, and monthly workload
Match paper input capacity, tested or rated speed, ADF size, and expected monthly workload to your routine. A larger paper supply and feeder can reduce interruptions on busy days, but do not assume a model’s review workload context is a manufacturer-rated monthly duty cycle. For sustained office use, verify the specification for the exact regional model.

Fax, connections, and desk space
Decide whether fax is genuinely needed, and confirm that the device offers the connections you will use. Check phone, operating-system, and network compatibility for mobile printing before purchasing. Also measure the available space: multifunction printers can consolidate several devices, but a larger model may still be difficult to place. The MF753Cdw II’s weight is one of Tom’s Guide’s noted drawbacks; the ET-4950 review likewise calls out several absent connection options.

What should you verify before buying?
- Confirm that the exact model includes every function you need, especially fax, Ethernet, or mobile-print support.
- Check ADF capacity and duplex scanning separately from duplex printing.
- Compare initial price with realistic ink or toner use; treat published per-page estimates as test-specific guidance, not a guarantee.
- Check local model names, stock, and compatible supplies. The cited guides focus on US-facing model names, and regional availability can differ.
- Check lifecycle status for older models. Epson US lists the EcoTank ET-3850 as discontinued and names the ET-3950 as its replacement; verify current availability and specifications for your market on Epson’s ET-3850 product page.
