If Meta Muse is not available to you—or you want to compare options before relying on an AI agent—start with ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot. They are candidates to evaluate, not five interchangeable replacements: the available product information supports a specific Microsoft-app fit for Copilot, while the right choice among the others depends on your tasks, integrations, access, and plan terms.
What makes an app an alternative to Meta Muse?
Meta announced Muse on September 8, 2026, describing it as a personal AI agent that can handle tasks, browse the web, fill in forms, and continue working after you close the app. Meta said the service was rolling out in the United States on iOS, Android, and the web, with most use free and paid subscriptions for heavier use. That agent-style description matters when comparing apps. An assistant that drafts or answers in a chat is not automatically a substitute for a service designed to take actions or keep working in the background. For any option, check whether it can complete the actions you want, which connected services it can access, and whether it asks for approval before acting.

1. ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a general-purpose AI assistant to consider if you want an alternative for a range of everyday tasks. The available product information here does not establish a feature-by-feature match with Muse, so verify whether the current ChatGPT offering can perform the specific actions and integrations you need.
2. Claude
Claude is another AI app to evaluate against your own tasks. Do not assume it offers the same background work or action-taking behavior described for Muse; check its current capabilities and controls before treating it as an agent replacement.

5. Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Copilot has a documented point of fit if your work already happens in Microsoft apps: Microsoft describes connections with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Confirm which Copilot product or account tier you are considering, because consumer and work offerings are not necessarily the same. Microsoft’s page describes Copilot Autopilot as cloud-hosted and in Private Preview; preview availability can change.
How to choose an alternative
- List the actions you need. Separate tasks that require an app to take action or continue in the background from tasks where an answer or draft is enough. Verify the exact behavior in the product you are considering.
- Check your existing services. If you rely on Microsoft work apps, Copilot’s stated connections to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams may be relevant. For any other service, confirm the integration exists in the specific product tier you can access.
- Review action and privacy controls. Look for approval prompts, connected-app permissions, and activity records. Meta says Muse offers approval before sensitive actions, an activity trail, connected-app access controls, and an option to opt out of having interactions used for model training. - Confirm availability for your situation. Check current country, age, device, and account requirements on the provider’s official pages. Muse’s U.S. rollout and age details above were reported at launch, and may no longer describe current availability.
- Compare the terms before committing. Check the free allowance, what happens when it runs out, subscription price, and whether the terms apply to consumer or work accounts.
