Thai Dota 2 professional Nuengnara “23savage” Teeramahanon says Kuala Lumpur police handcuffed him and two Xipto Esports teammates during a bootcamp raid, then removed his restraints so he could play a match in front of officers. He says the officers accepted the performance as proof that the men were genuine esports players and released them.
What happened at Xipto Esports’ Kuala Lumpur bootcamp
Reports published on October 15, 2026, say police entered Xipto Esports’ bootcamp after a training session. According to 23savage’s account, officers confiscated the players’ passports and phones, disconnected the internet, shut down the computers and handcuffed him with Saieful “Fbz” Ilham and Chon Kien “Oli” Chan.
23savage said the questioning lasted about two hours and focused in part on whether the people inside were genuine professional gamers. The incident was reported through his own social-media account and repeated by esports outlets; a detailed public police explanation was not included in those reports.
Why police asked 23savage to play Dota 2
The account says one officer recognized Dota 2. The officer also recognized Malaysian public figure Ms Puiyi in a photograph on 23savage’s Instagram. Police then removed 23savage’s handcuffs and asked him to demonstrate that he was the player he claimed to be.

The unusual identity check was therefore a practical demonstration rather than a formal esports match: an officer watched 23savage play a live game on the bootcamp’s equipment. The available reports do not say that police used a tournament account, match replay or identity document to verify him separately.

Why was the bootcamp raided?
The reason remains unresolved. CyberScore and other coverage mentioned a rumor that authorities may have mistaken the facility for a fraudulent call center. The speculation was linked to observations such as bulk food orders, but no police statement confirming that explanation was identified in the coverage.
