Hindi movies are available through a mix of official YouTube channels, ad-supported streaming services, library platforms, and Indian OTT apps. The important distinction is that “free” does not mean the same thing everywhere: some services are free with ads, some offer only selected free titles, and Kanopy or Hoopla require access through an eligible library or university.
This list focuses on legitimate services and explains what you can realistically expect before you create an account or start searching.

1. YouTube
YouTube is often the simplest place to look for a free Hindi movie, provided you use an official source. Search for the movie title together with the name of a studio, distributor, or broadcaster, then inspect the channel before pressing Play.

- Open the channel page rather than relying only on the search thumbnail.
- Check whether the channel belongs to the studio, distributor, broadcaster, or rights holder.
- Confirm that the video plays in your country; licensing can be regional.
Best use: free viewing with no additional streaming subscription. Watch out for: duplicate uploads, misleading thumbnails, and unofficial copies.
2. Plex
Plex has a free, ad-supported section alongside its other services. Its current navigation includes Live TV, On Demand, and Discover, with areas such as Movies & TV Shows, Most Popular, Leaving Soon, and Free Movies & TV Shows.
Use the free area first, then search for the Hindi title. Plex’s interface and catalog are useful, but the currently exposed site does not establish that it has a large Hindi collection. Check the individual movie page for language, region, and playback availability.
A Plex account can provide a Watchlist; Sign In is visible in the account controls. Free viewing is supported by advertising.
3. Tubi
Tubi presents itself as a service for watching free movies and TV shows online. It displays normal film details such as year, runtime, rating, and genre, including the Foreign/International category.
That makes Tubi worth checking for Hindi and other Indian films, but do not assume the presence of a large Hindi catalog. Search for a specific title and verify the result in your country. The service may also require registration for some features; its visible account controls include Sign In and Register.
Best use: ad-supported streaming on supported devices. Limitation: catalog availability is heavily affected by territory and licensing.
4. The Roku Channel
The Roku Channel offers free movies, TV shows, and live news online. It is particularly convenient if you already use a Roku device, although web access is also available through its site.

Hindi availability is not guaranteed by the service’s general free-movie offering. Search for a title, open its details page, and confirm that the language and free-play option are available in your region. A movie appearing in a general search does not necessarily mean it is included in the free section.
5. ZEE5
ZEE5 has dedicated Hindi movie pages, including its global Hindi-movie listing. The site also exposes a FREE5 label or category, so it is one of the more relevant services for finding selected free Indian content.
Do not assume the entire Hindi catalog is free. ZEE5 mixes free and premium titles, and the exact title count, sign-in requirement, advertising, and playback rules can change. Use the free label and the movie’s own page as the deciding evidence rather than relying on an old listicle claiming a fixed number of free films.

SonyLIV is a strong option for Hindi television and Indian entertainment, with current programming such as Kaun Banega Crorepati, Crime Patrol, and other Hindi shows visible on its homepage.
It may also expose selected movies or free episodes, but the homepage alone does not prove that its Hindi-movie catalog is free. Open the movie page and look for the playback button, subscription prompt, and any free or ad-supported marker before assuming that you can watch without paying.
7. ShemarooMe
ShemarooMe is explicitly positioned around Bollywood Hindi movies, Gujarati movies, and television shows. It is a sensible destination for older Bollywood material and regional Indian entertainment.
The service should not be described as an entirely free catalog. Some items may be available without a subscription, while others can require a paid plan. Check each title’s access label and test playback without entering payment details if your goal is strictly free viewing.
8. Hungama
Hungama is an established Indian entertainment platform covering music and video. It can be worth searching when a film is not available on the larger ad-supported services.

Its current public page does not clearly establish a stable free Hindi-movie section, a fixed free catalog, or universal no-login playback. 9. JioHotstar/Hotstar
Older articles may call this service JioCinema or Disney+ Hotstar. The current jiohotstar.com address redirects to hotstar.com, so instructions based on the old standalone branding may no longer match what you see.
Free access depends on the country, title, and current plan structure. Search for the specific Hindi film and inspect its playback requirements. Do not assume that a movie is free merely because it appears in the catalog.

10. Internet Archive
The Internet Archive’s Movies collection is available at archive.org/details/movies. It is a digital-library collection rather than a Hindi-film streaming service, but individual older films may be available to watch or download.
Rights must be checked for every item. The fact that a video is hosted in the collection does not automatically mean it is public domain or cleared for unrestricted downloading. Read the item description, uploader information, rights statement, and available file or playback terms before using it.
11. Kanopy
Kanopy can be free at the point of use if your public library or university participates. You normally connect the service to an eligible institution rather than paying for a conventional streaming subscription.
Availability varies by institution, and the current public site does not establish a universal Hindi-movie category. Search after signing in through your library or university. If your institution does not participate, Kanopy is not a free option for you.
12. Hoopla
Hoopla lets eligible library users stream or borrow audiobooks, music, video, and ebooks. Hindi movies may appear in the video catalog, but availability depends on your library’s licensing arrangement and collection.

- Open Hoopla and select your library or sign in with your library details.
- Search for the Hindi movie or browse video.
- Check whether the title is available to borrow.
- Review the loan period and any monthly borrowing limit shown by your library.
Hoopla is a legitimate no-extra-cost option for participating library members, not a universally free streaming site.
13. Dailymotion
Dailymotion is a social-video platform, so it may contain Hindi movie uploads that are difficult to find elsewhere. However, the platform itself does not prove that every upload is licensed.
Only use a full movie when the uploader is identifiable as an official studio, distributor, broadcaster, or rights holder. An anonymous channel, copied watermark, or unusually recent theatrical release is a warning sign. If the ownership is unclear, skip it rather than treating Dailymotion as a legal movie service.

14. YuppTV
YuppTV focuses on Indian television and can include Hindi movie access, particularly for viewers outside India. The exact films, channels, plans, and free viewing options vary by country.
Check the title or channel page in your own region before depending on it. A service may advertise Indian content internationally while placing particular movies behind a subscription or making them unavailable in some countries.

- Look for the access label. “Free,” “watch free,” or an ad-supported play button is more useful than a movie appearing in search results.
- Check the country. Streaming rights can differ between India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other markets.
- Separate free trials from free movies. A trial that asks for a card is not the same as permanently free, ad-supported access.
- Inspect the official source. On YouTube and Dailymotion, verify the uploader before watching or sharing a film.
- Read the playback prompt. A title page may be visible while playback still requires a subscription, login, library card, or supported device.
- Expect catalog changes. Movies can leave services when licensing agreements expire.
Services to treat cautiously
Search results may also recommend sites promising every new Hindi movie in HD without registration. These often use scraped links, aggressive pop-ups, fake play buttons, or unauthorized copies. Avoid downloading unknown “players,” browser extensions, or APK files offered by such sites.
Amazon MX Player is also not a universal recommendation for American viewers: the current mxplayer.in page returned the message, “Oops!!! We are currently not available in your region.” Do not treat a region block as a technical fault, and do not assume that using a VPN is an official access method.
