USB-C is more than a charging plug, but the connector alone does not tell you what a gadget can do. Depending on the device and its specifications, USB-C may carry power, data, video, or only some of those functions. The most useful USB-C gadgets are therefore the ones that solve a specific problem: tightening small screws, extending a laptop’s ports, moving files offline, connecting an external display, or adding a little light, airflow, warmth, or inspection capability.
This guide covers 13 practical examples and the compatibility checks that matter before buying. The product figures are reported details from PCWorld’s October 25, 2025 roundup and SlashGear’s September 5, 2026 roundup, not independent test results. Treat each specification as model-specific and verify the current listing before ordering.
First, understand what USB-C does—and does not—promise
USB-C describes the physical connector and plug orientation. It does not guarantee a particular charging speed, data rate, video function, or laptop compatibility. A phone, tablet, laptop, hub, or adapter can use the same connector while supporting very different capabilities.
Before buying any USB-C gadget, check three sides of the connection: the host device, the accessory and the thing you are connecting to it. For example, a USB-C-to-HDMI adapter is useful only when the host’s USB-C port supports video output. A power bank with a USB-C socket may still be unable to deliver enough output for a laptop. A flash drive may fit both a phone and a computer but deliver different transfer performance depending on its USB protocol and the host port.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

1. Wowstick 1F+ mini electric screwdriver
A rechargeable precision screwdriver turns repetitive small repairs into a faster, less tiring task. It is suited to electronics enclosures, small appliances, toys and other jobs where a manual driver works but becomes tedious. It is not a substitute for a heavier-duty drill or impact driver; the deciding factors are torque, bit fit and the size of the fastener.
PCWorld’s October 25, 2025 coverage reports that the Wowstick 1F+ rotates at 200 times per minute and includes 56 bits. Those are article-reported product figures, not independently measured results in that coverage. The tool is described as USB-C rechargeable, so you can top it up from a compatible USB-C charger rather than carrying a proprietary power brick.
- Choose it for precision and portability, not high-force construction work.
- Count the bit types you actually use; a large assortment is useful only when it contains the correct profiles.
- Confirm the current kit’s charging connector and included accessories before purchase.
2. HOTO 25-piece screwdriver kit
The HOTO kit is another light-repair option, with a smaller, more deliberately curated bit set. SlashGear’s September 5, 2026 roundup describes 25 bits and reports a company-touted recharge time of under 150 minutes. Because that charging figure is a manufacturer claim reported by the article, recheck the current product listing and charging instructions.

Compare it with the Wowstick by asking whether you need broader bit coverage or a simpler everyday kit, and whether your tasks require more torque than a precision driver is designed to provide.
3. Anker Nano Power Bank
A small power bank trades wall-outlet convenience for portability. PCWorld lists the Anker Nano Power Bank with a reported 5,000mAh capacity and a foldable USB-C connector. Capacity is a model detail, not a promise of a specific number of phone charges: conversion losses, battery size and charging conditions affect the result.
Use a compact bank for keeping a phone usable during commutes, travel or a power interruption. Do not assume that a USB-C connector means laptop charging. Check the bank’s output rating against the target device’s input requirements, and confirm whether the connector is intended to plug directly into the device or to connect through a cable.

4. Compact USB-C hub
A basic hub expands one USB-C port into several connections. The clearest use case in the reviewed coverage is adding USB-A data ports to a modern laptop or tablet so you can attach older peripherals such as a mouse, keyboard or storage device.
Before buying, list the devices you need to connect at the same time. Check the number and type of data ports, their stated speed, whether the host supports the hub’s functions and whether pass-through charging is available. A hub that only adds data ports will not automatically provide video, Ethernet or memory-card slots.
5. USB-C docking station
A docking station is the desk-oriented alternative to a minimal hub. Depending on the model, a dock may add HDMI, card readers, a headphone jack, Ethernet and multiple USB ports, often while accepting power from a charger. That concentration of ports can turn a laptop into a more permanent workstation.
Compare docks by the outputs you will actually use rather than by the port count alone. Verify host support, power input, display outputs, Ethernet availability, audio connections and card-reader formats. A dock cannot add a function that the host operating system or USB-C implementation does not support, and two USB-C laptops can differ substantially in display and charging behavior.
6. USB-C flash drive
A USB-C flash drive remains useful when you need a physical file transfer, an offline copy or a simple way to move files between devices without relying on a cloud account. It is especially practical for large media files or situations where internet access is limited.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesSpeed varies by product and protocol. SlashGear distinguishes lower-cost USB 3.2 Gen 1 options from faster, more expensive models, but an editorial speed description should not be treated as a universal result for every computer. Compare capacity, connector arrangement, operating-system compatibility and the advertised USB generation. Safely eject the drive where the host requires it, and keep a second backup for irreplaceable files.

7. USB-C-to-HDMI adapter
This adapter connects a compatible USB-C host to a display with an HDMI input. It is useful for presentations, a larger screen at home or a second display at a desk, but compatibility comes before cable length or appearance.
The host’s USB-C port must support video output; the presence of USB-C alone is not enough. Match the adapter to the display’s HDMI input and the resolution and refresh rate you need. The reviewed material establishes the compatibility prerequisite but does not verify a particular resolution claim, so treat any model-specific resolution statement as something to confirm in the current specifications.
8. USB-C-to-DisplayPort adapter
A DisplayPort adapter serves the same basic purpose when the monitor or projector uses DisplayPort rather than HDMI. It can be the cleaner choice for a monitor that already has a DisplayPort input, avoiding an extra conversion cable.
Check that the host supports video over USB-C, then match the adapter to the monitor input and the required resolution and refresh rate. Also verify whether the adapter is directional; many adapters are designed from USB-C source to DisplayPort display and will not work in the reverse direction. Do not infer performance from the connector shape alone.
9. USB-C endoscope or inspection camera
An endoscope camera puts a small camera at the end of a flexible cable so you can inspect spaces that are difficult to see directly: behind appliances, inside a drain opening, around a vehicle component or within a wall cavity that is already accessible for inspection.
Compatibility is more complicated than plugging in a drive. Confirm that the camera works with your phone or computer, whether it needs a particular app and which operating systems are supported. Check cable length, camera diameter, lighting controls and whether the connector orientation suits your device. Treat it as an inspection aid, not as permission to open electrical, gas or structural systems unsafely.

10. Monitor light bar
A monitor light bar mounts above a display and directs adjustable light toward the desk. It can make a keyboard, notebook or work surface easier to see while avoiding the footprint of a conventional lamp. It is most useful in a fixed desk setup where the monitor’s top edge can support the mounting design.

Look for adjustable brightness or color settings if those matter to your work, and make sure the USB-C power lead can reach a suitable port or charger. A light bar is a situational comfort and visibility accessory, not a replacement for adequate room lighting in every environment.
11. USB-C rechargeable flashlight
A USB-C flashlight is a practical upgrade for a bag, car or emergency drawer because the same charging ecosystem used for other devices can replenish it. The value is convenience and readiness rather than the connector itself.
Compare physical size, switch design, battery-status indication and charging behavior. Confirm whether the light can operate while charging if that feature matters, and follow the manufacturer’s battery and heat instructions. Do not assume that a USB-C flashlight’s brightness, runtime or water resistance matches another model simply because both use USB-C.

13. USB-C portable fan
A small portable fan provides personal airflow at a desk, bedside table or travel seat. USB-C power can come from a wall charger, laptop or power bank, depending on the model’s input requirements.
Compare whether the fan is directly powered, rechargeable or both. Check speed controls, runtime claims, charging behavior, stand or clip options and expected noise. A power bank may extend use away from an outlet, but the bank’s output still has to meet the fan’s requirements. As with a hand warmer, this is valuable in the situations where you need it and unnecessary when you do not.
How to avoid the most common USB-C buying mistakes
Do not shop by connector shape alone
Read the host device’s specifications for video output, charging input and data support. A USB-C port can be limited to one function, while another port on a similar-looking device can support several.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Match output to the device
For power banks, docks and fans, compare the accessory’s stated output with the target device’s input requirement. Capacity tells you how much energy a bank stores; it does not establish charging speed or laptop compatibility.
Separate a hub from a dock
Choose a compact hub when you mainly need extra data ports. Choose a dock when you need a desk’s worth of connections such as display output, Ethernet, audio or card readers, and verify that the host supports them.
Verify the complete display path
For HDMI and DisplayPort adapters, check host video support, adapter direction, display input and the resolution and refresh rate required. A cable or adapter cannot create video output that the host does not provide.
Treat product figures as model-specific
The Wowstick’s reported 200 rotations per minute and 56 bits, the HOTO kit’s reported 25 bits and under-150-minute company-touted recharge time, and the Anker Nano Power Bank’s reported 5,000mAh capacity describe the cited models in the cited coverage. They are not universal USB-C standards or independently verified measurements.
