A 12V DC television is the straightforward choice when you want to run a TV directly from an RV’s 12V electrical system. Before buying, confirm the exact model’s DC input, dimensions, VESA mounting pattern, resolution, tuner, and connections. ASA/Jensen’s official lineup documents several RV models; specifications for the other sets named in a 2026 comparison should be verified against their manufacturers before purchase.
What makes a TV suitable for an RV’s 12V system?
Check the power label and product documentation for an explicit 12V DC input. A conventional AC-only television does not meet that requirement: it needs an appropriate power setup rather than connecting directly to the RV’s 12V supply. A 2026 comparison describes DC operation as useful for battery-powered dry camping, but it does not establish that every listed candidate has been verified against its manufacturer.
Do not infer that a television will connect directly to a particular RV battery just because it is described as a 12V model. Confirm the input requirements and the included power accessories for the exact model, then check that the RV installation is suitable for that TV. Jensen’s listing for the JTV1917DVDC, for example, specifies both a 12V cigarette adapter and a 110VAC AC/DC adapter; included accessories can differ by model.

ASA/Jensen’s official RV television page lists the following models and specifications. The resolution figures below preserve the pixel dimensions stated by the manufacturer; a 1366 × 768 panel is not the same pixel count as 1920 × 1080.

How should you choose screen size and mounting?
Measure the installation space
Measure the cabinet or wall area, including clearance for the TV’s edges, cables, and any movement of an articulating mount. A screen that fits the opening may still be awkward if it blocks a cabinet door or cannot swivel without hitting nearby fixtures. The documented Jensen choices range from 19 to 40 inches; the 2026 comparison also discusses compact 22-inch sets.

Match the VESA pattern to the mount
VESA dimensions describe the spacing between the mounting holes on the back of a TV. Compare the exact TV pattern with the mount’s supported patterns before ordering. Jensen documents 75 × 75 mm for JTV1917DVDC, 100 × 100 mm for JTV2815DC and JTV3217DC, and 200 × 100 mm for JTV4015DC. These figures do not establish whether a particular RV wall can support a mount; check the wall structure and installation requirements separately.

Screen size alone does not determine whether a TV will be comfortable to watch. Consider the distance from the usual seats and the viewing angles in the RV, then balance those against the available mounting space. A smaller screen may suit a compact interior, while a larger set needs enough room to install and view comfortably.

What features should you verify besides 12V input?
- Resolution: Compare the exact pixel dimensions, not just a marketing label. The listed Jensen models include 1366 × 768, 1266 × 768, and 1920 × 1080 or 1920 × 1080p panels.
- Tuner: Jensen lists an integrated ATSC tuner for the models above. Confirm the tuner type on any other model rather than assuming it matches.
- Inputs: Count the HDMI ports and check for the connections your devices need. Jensen’s JTV3217DC and JTV4015DC listings document two HDMI inputs; the JTV3217DC listing also names USB, RF, component/composite and audio connections.
- DVD playback: The JTV1917DVDC has a built-in DVD player. A combo can be convenient if you use discs, but verify the feature on the exact model—do not assume every RV TV includes one.
- Smart functions and internet: Confirm whether the specific set offers the apps or streaming functions you want, and whether they require an internet connection. The available manufacturer information here does not establish smart-TV functions for the Jensen models listed.
- Power accessories: Check whether the set includes a 12V adapter, an AC adapter, or both, and whether those match your intended setup.

How to check a candidate before buying
- Identify the exact model number. Similar product names can refer to different sizes or feature sets.
- Confirm 12V DC input. Find it in the manufacturer’s specifications, and check which adapters are supplied.
- Measure the location. Check screen dimensions, clearance, viewing distance, and cable access against the actual installation.
- Check VESA compatibility. Match the TV’s documented hole spacing to the mount, and verify the RV wall is suitable for the installation.
- Verify the features you need. Confirm resolution, tuner, ports, DVD playback, and any smart functions individually.
- Check current listing details. Product specifications, prices, and availability can change; make sure the listing matches the model documented by the manufacturer.
