Swedish startup 120ft Factory AB has launched from stealth with a €576,000 angel round backed by 22 investors. The company is developing autonomous, container-sized factories where humanoid robots assemble, inspect and pack products for multiple brands.
Instead of buying robots or building a dedicated production line, a customer would continue using its existing component suppliers, ship parts to a 120ft site and pay for each finished product. The approach is aimed at small appliance and consumer-electronics brands that need flexible, lower-volume production closer to customers.
What happened at 120ft Factory
120ft Factory AB was founded in Stockholm in 2025 by Martin Willers and publicly announced its business on 15 October 2026. It raised €576,000 from 22 angel investors; SiliconANGLE reported the same round as approximately $644,000.
| Detail | What has been announced |
|---|---|
| Funding | €576,000 angel round in 2026 |
| Backers | 22 angel investors |
| Proposed footprint | Three 40-foot shipping containers, or 120 feet of combined container length |
| Company status | Moving toward commercial production; no production-site location or named customer has been disclosed |
The investor group includes Ted Persson, co-head of EQT AB’s Scaleup Europe Fund; Sophia Bendz, a partner at Cherry Ventures; Matthias Dantone, co-founder of Fashwell, which was acquired by Apple; and Sam Baker, an investor at Planet A Ventures with manufacturing experience.

How 120ft’s humanoid-robot microfactories are supposed to work
A 120ft site is designed as shared manufacturing capacity rather than a factory owned by one brand. The company says its robots can perform preparation, final assembly, inspection and packing for different customers in the same compact facility.
The customer workflow
- Keep existing suppliers. A brand continues sourcing components through its current supplier network rather than transferring every part purchase to 120ft.
- Send parts to a 120ft site. Components arrive at the containerized factory for a specific production run.
- Provide product and quality data. Designs, bills of materials and inspection requirements are used to create digital manufacturing instructions.
- Run the job. Humanoid robots and associated tooling prepare parts, assemble the product, perform quality checks and pack completed units.
- Pay for finished products. The proposed commercial model charges the customer per completed item, so the brand does not have to purchase the robots or finance a dedicated line.
This model is intended for high-mix, lower-volume work, where a conventional line can be expensive to set up and difficult to change between products. The shared setup could let several brands use the same automation capacity at different times, although 120ft has not published customer contracts, utilization targets or pricing.

The software layer around the robots
120ft says its software turns product designs, parts lists and quality requirements into digital instructions for manufacturing. Before production, the complete job is simulated so missing information and likely bottlenecks can be identified before parts reach the line.
During production, orchestration software is meant to coordinate robot actions, tooling, quality checks and recovery when a task fails. Instructions and run data are retained so an assembly task can be reused and improved on later jobs. That software-and-data layer is important because, as Sam Baker put it, “A robot on its own does not solve the manufacturing problem”; tooling, software and quality control must work together.
What 120ft has demonstrated
The company has shown the system assembling a lamp. In the demonstration, robots assembled a cylinder lock, threaded a bulb fitting and ran a functional test. The example indicates the intended workflow includes both mechanical assembly and a check that the finished product works, rather than simply moving parts from one station to another.

How fast can the robots learn new assembly skills?
120ft reports a large reduction in the time needed to teach one end-to-end assembly skill:
| Period | Reported time to teach one skill | Status of the figure |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | Seven weeks | Company-reported |
| 2026 | Seven hours | Company-reported |
| 2027 target | Seven minutes | Future company target, not a measured result |
These figures were reported by SiliconANGLE and Swedish Tech News from 120ft’s own claims. They are not independently audited performance results. The company has not published a standardized test protocol, the number of operators involved, the product complexity represented by “one skill,” or independent throughput and error-rate measurements. The seven-minute figure is therefore a roadmap goal, not evidence that production lines can currently be reconfigured in seven minutes.
Why smaller brands might use a microfactory
Small appliance and consumer-electronics companies can face a difficult timing problem: production orders may need to be placed months before demand is known. That can tie up cash in inventory and force design or volume decisions too early.

Willers described the issue this way: “For a smaller brand, that means tying up cash and making decisions about demand far too early.” A shared local factory could, in principle, support smaller batches, faster product changes and production nearer to the market being served.
120ft also frames geographically concentrated supply chains as a geopolitical risk. A network of compact factories would be intended to add capacity closer to demand rather than requiring every brand to build and operate its own automated plant. The practical benefit will depend on the eventual cost per unit, available capacity, shipping arrangements and the range of products the system can handle; none of those commercial metrics has been disclosed.
What the funding will pay for
The €576,000 round is intended to move the system toward commercial production and fund further development of 120ft’s software and factory infrastructure. The company’s longer-term roadmap extends beyond new-product assembly to repair, upgrades and remanufacturing, which would keep products in service and bring previously made items back into a production workflow.

That roadmap remains forward-looking. 120ft has not announced a commercial launch date, a production location, named customers, a specific humanoid-robot model, audited production throughput or independently verified quality results.
What to watch next
- Commercial deployment: whether a containerized site enters sustained production for paying customers.
- Product range: which appliances or electronics can be handled without extensive custom tooling.
- Throughput and quality: independently measured units per hour, defect rates, changeover times and recovery from failures.
- Economics: per-unit pricing, minimum batch sizes and how transport to and from a shared site affects total cost.
- Learning claims: whether the reported seven-hour result can be reproduced across multiple products and whether the seven-minute 2027 target is reached.
What this announcement means
120ft is proposing a manufacturing service in which humanoid robots are one part of a complete system: suppliers provide components, software translates product requirements into repeatable instructions, robots perform flexible work, and customers pay for finished goods. The funding gives the Stockholm startup resources to develop that system, but the announcement does not yet establish commercial scale or independently verified robot performance.
