The right health tracking app depends on what you want to track, which phone or wearable you already use, and whether you are willing to pay for a subscription or dedicated hardware. This guide compares 10 distinct options supported by current product information; it is a practical shortlist, not a measured ranking. The available information does not support a reliable, fully verified list of 15 unique apps with current features and prices.
Compare the 10 health tracking apps by purpose and cost
These services do different jobs: some organize health data from multiple sources, some are companions to a particular wearable, and others focus on exercise or food logging. Prices below are included only where current source material established a figure; subscription and feature availability can vary by country, device, and plan.
| App | Best fit | Hardware and connections | Price information |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Health | iPhone users who want a central record for activity, sleep, medications, and other health information | Collects information from Apple devices and compatible apps; Apple describes encryption protections for health data. | Apple presents it as an included health organizer, not a separately priced subscription. This does not establish Apple Fitness+ pricing. |
| Google Health (formerly the Fitbit app) | People who want tracking and coaching alongside data from different device and app ecosystems | Google lists connections including Apple Watch, Garmin, Samsung Galaxy watches, WHOOP, Oura, Strava, and MyFitnessPal. The route and data shared can vary by partner. | Google’s US store page listed Health Premium from $9.99 for coaching; price, eligibility, and terms may change. |
| Garmin Connect | Garmin wearable owners who want health and training data in the maker’s companion app | Most useful with compatible Garmin hardware; features depend on the device. | Core features are described as available at no charge, with optional Connect+ features. A current local Connect+ price was not established. |
| Samsung Health | People using Samsung Galaxy devices who want a health and activity dashboard | Works within Samsung’s device ecosystem; compatible integrations and features vary by device. Google lists Samsung Galaxy watches among connectable sources. | Current plan pricing was not established. |
| Strava | People who prioritize recording activities, reviewing their history, and sharing with a community | Activity service with connections to other apps and devices; specific sync behavior depends on the integration. | Strava says recording and sharing are available free; subscription features are separate. |
| MyFitnessPal | People focused on food and calorie logging | Documented connections include Fitbit/Google Health, Strava, Garmin Connect, and Apple Watch. | Current complete pricing was not established. |
| Cronometer | People who want to track food and nutrition information | Documented syncing includes Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Health/Apple Watch, WHOOP, and Oura. | Current complete pricing was not established. |
| Oura | People interested in sleep and wellness tracking through a ring-based wearable | Core measurements depend on the Oura ring; Google lists Oura among connectable sources. | Check device and membership terms separately; a current price was not established here. |
| WHOOP | People interested in continuous tracking, sleep, strain, and recovery insights | Membership-based wearable ecosystem; hardware and included features vary by plan. | WHOOP’s official pricing documentation lists $199 per year in the United States, Mexico, Canada, the EU, and UK. It also lists WHOOP One at $149 for the first year followed by a $199 renewal in certain markets. Check the live terms for your location. |
| Apple Fitness | Apple users focused on workouts and activity rather than a broad health-data record | Part of Apple’s ecosystem; it is distinct from Apple Health, which organizes health information from devices and compatible apps. | Current plan and bundle pricing was not established and varies by country. |
Choose an app by what you want to track
For a central health record
Apple Health is a natural starting point for iPhone users who want information from Apple devices and compatible apps organized in one place. Google Health is the broader cross-ecosystem option described by Google, with partner connections that can include devices and services outside Google’s own hardware family. Neither description means every source sends the same types of data or syncs in both directions.

For wearable-based sleep, recovery, or training data
Garmin Connect is most useful when you own or plan to use Garmin hardware. Oura and WHOOP pair their apps with dedicated wearables and paid membership models, so compare total first-year and renewal costs as well as the features included in the plan. A phone-only logging app will not provide the same wearable measurements.

Check compatibility and syncing before committing
App connections may use direct integrations, Apple Health, or Android Health Connect, and the available data can differ by route. Check the exact phone, wearable, country, and app version you use, then confirm which information is shared and whether the connection works in one direction or both. Google support indicates that some partner connections may need to be refreshed before October 30, 2026 to maintain syncing; users with affected connections should check Google’s current instructions.

Compare the real cost, not just the download price
A free app download does not necessarily include every feature, and a wearable-based service may bundle hardware with a recurring membership. Before choosing, check the price for your country and billing period, renewal amount, any trial terms, and which features remain available without a subscription. The confirmed figures in the table are not directly comparable: Google’s figure is a starting price for a US premium offering, while WHOOP’s figures are annual membership terms for specified markets.
Use health tracking as a wellness aid, not a diagnosis
Consumer apps can help organize records and follow patterns, but their wellness features should not be treated as a clinical diagnosis or a substitute for medical advice. Google explicitly says sleep tracking is not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions. Apple announced additional Health app and Apple Intelligence plans in September 2026; announced or availability-dependent features should not be assumed to be active on every device or in every region.
