Pixilart combines a browser-based and mobile pixel-art drawing application with a social platform for artists, students, educators, and game creators. Its toolset covers pixel-perfect drawing, dithering, filters, brushes, stamps, text, custom canvas sizes, layers, palettes, and frame-based animation. Artists can publish work, follow other artists, join contests and challenges, and maintain artist profiles across the web, iOS, and Android apps.
The Free plan is always available and includes 15 stamps plus a basic hire portfolio. Animation features include adjustable frame timing and onion skinning for adjacent frames, while layer editing supports opacity, blending, duplication, merging, and clipping masks. Palette creation, import, export, and user-generated palettes add control over color workflows. Export options span GIF, WebP, MP4, WebM, PNG, sprite sheets, and Pixil project files, giving the product useful coverage for animated art, game assets, and shareable images.
Pixilart’s clearest distinction is its community layer: galleries, publishing, contests, challenges, and artist profiles sit alongside the creation tools rather than being separate from them. Pro adds an ad-free experience, cloud drawing storage, unlimited stamps, priority support, and early access features, following a 3-day free period. Choose Pixilart if you want pixel-art creation paired with public discovery and community participation. Artists focused only on a minimal offline workflow may prefer a tool without the social and membership features.
