Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsBefore traveling, set up lost-device recovery, enable the theft-protection features your Galaxy offers, and keep Auto Blocker on. Consider Maximum restrictions only after checking your destination’s network coverage and your work needs: it blocks 2G and automatic reconnection to non-secure Wi-Fi, which can cut off service in some places. Samsung feature availability and menu labels vary by model, country, and One UI version, so confirm each setting on your phone.
Before you leave: prepare to find or lock a lost phone
Recovery tools need to be configured before a phone goes missing. Samsung says Find My Mobile can locate and lock a phone and may let you back up or erase locally stored data. Setup requires a Samsung account and location-related consent; availability depends on the device and operating system. Check that Samsung and Google device-finding options are enabled on the phone you will carry, and make sure you can access the relevant accounts.
- Install available software updates through your phone’s Settings updater, then review security and privacy settings by name. Check the installed security patch on your own device rather than assuming it is current.
- Confirm that you have a secure screen lock and can sign in to the accounts needed for device recovery.
- Verify the location permissions and recovery settings required by the services you plan to use.
Samsung’s Galaxy Security guidance and Find My Mobile information describe recovery capabilities and prerequisites. Options may differ across devices.
Enable the theft-protection options available on your Galaxy
On supported devices, Samsung documents Theft detection lock, Offline device lock, and Remote lock. To look for them, open Settings > Security and privacy > Lost device protection > Theft protection. Turn on the options your phone presents and review their descriptions; this route and availability are not universal.

- Theft detection lock is a theft-response control documented by Samsung. Its presence depends on the device and software.
- Offline device lock is another available control in Samsung’s theft-protection settings on supported phones.
- Remote lock may not take effect immediately if the phone is offline. Samsung says the phone locks when it reconnects.
Samsung’s Theft protection guide describes these controls and notes that availability varies.
Keep Auto Blocker on
Open Settings > Security and privacy > Auto Blocker and confirm it is enabled. Samsung says Auto Blocker blocks apps from unauthorized sources, USB commands and USB software updates, as well as suspected malicious images in messaging apps. Samsung Canada’s Auto Blocker guidance, last updated July 15, 2026, recommends keeping it enabled for protection.

If you cannot find the listed path, search Settings for “Auto Blocker.” The setting and its available options can vary by model, region, and One UI version.
Decide whether Maximum restrictions fit your itinerary
Maximum restrictions is a stricter Auto Blocker mode, not a default travel requirement. Samsung describes it as intended for people who prefer stronger security despite reduced convenience. Review the tradeoffs before enabling it:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- It blocks 2G. If you travel through an area where 2G is the only cellular network, you will have no calls, texts, or mobile data while the restriction applies.
- It blocks automatic reconnection to non-secure Wi-Fi.
- It can affect work profiles and some device-admin apps, message link previews, and shared albums.
- Pictures shared from Gallery have location data removed.
Check the route and work requirements before making this choice. Samsung’s Auto Blocker guidance describes the restrictions and their compatibility effects.
Use Identity check and Secure Folder selectively
Identity check
On supported One UI 7 devices, Identity check can require biometric authentication for sensitive changes when you are outside designated safe places; Samsung also describes a one-hour delay for selected changes. Review which locations you designate as safe, since the control’s behavior depends on the settings available on your phone. See Samsung Ireland’s security settings guide.
Rank #4
Secure Folder
Secure Folder can keep selected content behind a separate lock. Move only material that benefits from that separation, choose a lock method, and set an auto-lock interval that suits your use. Samsung says new Secure Folder data backup is no longer supported, so do not rely on it as a new cloud backup. See Samsung’s Secure Folder guide.

Samsung’s documentation covers different countries and software versions, and not every Galaxy has every feature. Search Settings using the feature name if a menu path is missing, and follow the controls and explanations shown on your device. These settings reduce some risks but do not guarantee protection against theft, account compromise, surveillance, or compelled access.
