Eligible U.S. Amazon Prime customers may receive an automatic settlement payment if they enrolled through one of four challenged sign-up flows or tried and failed to cancel online between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, and used no more than 20 Prime benefits in a 12-month period. The claim-form deadline passed on July 27, 2026, but some payments are still being issued in later phases. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says eligible refunds should arrive by April 2027.

Who qualifies for the Amazon Prime settlement?

The FTC’s current guidance sets out three eligibility conditions. You must meet all three:

  • You were an Amazon Prime customer in the United States.
  • Between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, you signed up through a challenged enrollment flow or tried and failed to cancel Prime through Amazon’s online cancellation flow.
  • You used no more than 20 Prime benefits during any 12-month period following enrollment.

The four named enrollment flows are the universal Prime decision page, shipping selection page, single-page checkout, and Prime Video enrollment flow. Enrollment through some other route does not by itself establish eligibility. The FTC’s [current eligibility guidance](https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/amazon-prime-refunds) provides the governing summary.

Do you still need to file a claim?

No. The claim-form deadline was July 27, 2026, and has passed. Under the revised settlement order, eligible consumers may receive automatic payments without filing a form or responding to a notice. The FTC says Amazon administers the payments; the FTC is not sending the money. See the [FTC’s payment guidance](https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/refunds/amazon-prime-refunds).

When are payments being sent?

The revised court order sets out payment phases. These dates describe when payments may begin, not a promise that every eligible person will receive money on that date.

Group or phase Timing and conditions
Specified claims-process-eligible consumers Payments could begin August 30, 2026, whether or not the consumer filed a form, if a settlement payment had not already been issued and the consumer was not subject to a holdback.
Later group using 11–20 Prime benefits Automatic payments could begin October 1, 2026 for qualifying consumers who had not already received a payment.
Possible additional pro-rata payments If accepted payments do not meet the order’s specified $1 billion threshold, reconciliation is due by the end of March 2027; a further round could begin by the end of April 2027.

The FTC says eligible customers should receive refunds by April 2027. A further payment is conditional, not guaranteed. The [revised court order](https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/amazon-revised-order.pdf) describes the phase conditions and possible additional distribution.

How much could you receive?

The maximum total payment is $200 per eligible consumer, but that is a cap, not a guaranteed amount. The revised cap combines an earlier maximum of $51 with possible additional payment or payments up to $149. The order allows additional payments of up to $149 for consumers who previously accepted a payment if the conditions for a pro-rata round are met.

The settlement itself is up to $2.5 billion: up to $1.5 billion in consumer redress and a $1 billion civil penalty. As of September 2026, the FTC said more than $845 million in redress had been issued. Those program totals do not determine an individual recipient’s payment.

How will you receive the money, and what if it does not arrive?

Amazon sends settlement payments by PayPal, Venmo, or mailed check. A payment expires 60 days after it is issued, so follow the instructions and deadline in the actual payment notice. For payment help, the FTC lists admin@SubscriptionMembershipSettlement.com.

If you received a notice but no payment, submitted a form and are waiting, or have a check with an incorrect name or delivery address, use the settlement administrator contact on the FTC refund page and explain the specific issue. Do not assume a new notice or email is legitimate solely because it mentions the settlement.

How can you avoid settlement scams?

  • The FTC says it is not contacting people about refunds in this matter.
  • No one from Amazon should ask you to pay money to obtain a refund.
  • Do not pay anyone promising special access or a guaranteed payment.
  • Use the FTC’s official Amazon refund page or the administrator contact listed there to verify instructions.

The FTC described the underlying enrollment and cancellation practices as deceptive conduct resolved through settlement; the settlement was not a trial finding.
