Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf your YouTube live stream started disconnecting after you changed the RTMP server, first compare the encoder’s server URL with the current Stream URL in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Then verify the protocol and stream key. If those match, check the encoder’s status and outbound upload connection. The timing makes the server change a useful lead, but it does not prove that setting is the only cause.
Check the server URL and protocol first
The server URL is the destination for your video feed. It is separate from the stream key, which YouTube uses to identify and accept the stream. A correct key cannot compensate for a wrong destination, and a correct destination cannot compensate for a stale key.
- Open the stream in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Copy the Stream URL shown for that stream.
- Paste it into the encoder’s server field. Do not assume a previously saved ingest URL is still the right one, or substitute an unrelated URL.
- Check which protocol the encoder is configured to use. The URL and protocol need to agree.
If you intend to use RTMPS, YouTube’s Live Control Room may show the ordinary RTMP URL by default. Use the lock control there to reveal and copy the RTMPS URL, then confirm the encoder supports RTMPS. RTMPS is RTMP sent over a TLS/SSL connection.
If the RTMPS connection reports an SSL error
Confirm that both the protocol and server are set to RTMPS. If the SSL error persists, YouTube advises trying port 443.

- Compact but Powerful Design: ZowieBox is smaller than a phone, featuring a tally light and LCD screen for streaming status. Capture console gameplay in up to 4K with zero-lag HDMI passthrough, while the built-in video encoder converts video for IP streaming. The IP stream can also be decoded back to a 4K HDMI signal.
- Standalone Game Streaming: Just plug and play—ZowieBox enables PC-free live gaming without affecting gameplay. As an RTMP hardware encoder and HDMI streamer, it delivers stable streaming directly from your source, making it ideal for gaming, live events, and professional broadcasting.
- NDI|HX3 Converter Technology: ZowieBox converts HDMI signals to NDI|HX3/HX2/HX, functioning as an NDI video encoder, or NDI Video Decoder for flexible IP workflows. Certified NDI technology enables low-latency gameplay streaming through OBS/vMix. Note: Encoder and decoder modes cannot run simultaneously; full NDI signals are not supported.
- UVC to HDMI Conversion: Supporting up to 4K@30fps and 1080p@60fps decoding, ZowieBox enables flexible conversion for webcam and video workflows. As a video decoder and HDMI to IP converter, it expands connectivity options for professional video devices. Note: USB capture card functionality is not currently supported.
- All-around Configuration Options: Control ZowieBox through its web UI on a PC, phone, or tablet. Manage connected PTZ cameras, tally light, video/audio, OSD, work mode, streams, network, and system settings. Support for VISCA over IP encoder workflows enables flexible PTZ control, while the dashboard provides video preview and system status.
If the RTMPS connection times out
Recheck the exact URL and confirm that your encoder supports RTMPS. A timeout does not by itself establish whether the URL, encoder compatibility, or network is responsible.
Refresh the stream key separately
In Live Control Room, copy the current stream key and paste it into the encoder’s stream-key field if the key was reset or the encoder reports an authentication or start error. YouTube treats the key as a credential: keep it secret, and update any encoder that was using the previous key.

Built-in OSD generator adds scrolling text, logos, or timestamps directly to the video stream — ideal for branding, event info, or security labeling. Backed by a 1-year warranty and 24/7 online technical support.
Check the encoder before blaming the network
- Update the encoder software and review its own error messages.
- Check the encoder preview and YouTube’s live dashboard for signs that the video or audio output is failing.
- Look for excessive CPU load, source-routing problems, or other encoder-side errors.
- Check that the local archive is being written correctly, if you are recording one.
If the encoder’s output appears healthy while the YouTube feed disconnects, test the outbound internet connection. A different encoder can also help as a diagnostic comparison when the source of the problem remains unclear. If the issue appears specific to the encoder software or its integration, consult that software’s support resources.
Check upload capacity and stability
Streaming sends data outward, so upload capacity matters; a download-speed result alone does not tell you whether the connection can reliably carry your stream. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above your total streaming bitrate when planning outbound bandwidth. A connectivity disruption can break a stream.

- Check the stream’s total bitrate against the available upload capacity.
- Leave at least the recommended 20% headroom above that total.
- Look for instability or interruptions on the outbound connection, not just a low speed reading.
- If testing points to an ISP connection problem, contact your internet service provider.
A wired connection can be a useful way to test whether a local Wi-Fi link is unreliable, but it will not fix an incorrect server URL or stream key.
Use the symptom to choose the next check
| What you observe | Check next |
|---|---|
| The error begins immediately after changing the destination | Copy the current Stream URL from Live Control Room and verify the encoder’s server field and protocol. |
| RTMPS reports an SSL error | Confirm the RTMPS URL and protocol; if the error continues, try port 443. |
| RTMPS times out | Verify the exact URL and confirm the encoder supports RTMPS. |
| The encoder reports a start or authentication error | Copy the current stream key from Live Control Room and check the encoder software. |
| The encoder preview or YouTube dashboard shows problems | Inspect source routing, encoder errors, CPU load, and local archive output. |
| Encoder output looks healthy, but the feed still disconnects | Test outbound internet stability and available upload bandwidth. |
Preflight before the next live event
After changing settings, check the Live Control Room preview before going live. Test the setup in advance, monitor stream quality during the event, and verify that local archive files are being written correctly. If you rely on backup-encoder failover, test it before the event rather than assuming it will take over successfully.
