The IHP shuttle is not currently open. As of October 4, 2026, Tiny Tapeout listed its TTIHP26b run as closed on September 21, 2026, and TTIHP27a as planned for a March 2027 submission deadline. Before preparing a submission, check the live shuttle schedule and read the Terms and Conditions: submissions and documentation become public, contributors retain rights in their individual designs but grant required licenses, and Tiny Tapeout does not promise to test or guarantee a chip.

Is the Tiny Tapeout IHP shuttle open right now?

No, according to Tiny Tapeout’s schedule on October 4, 2026. TTIHP26b is listed as closed, while TTIHP27a is planned for March 2027. Future dates are estimates and may change, so use the current schedule for the deadline before paying or planning around a run.

Run Schedule details shown October 4, 2026
TTIHP26b Launched July 27, 2026; closed September 21, 2026. Listed with IHP-2609, 123 designs, and estimated shipping August 16, 2027.
TTIHP27a Planned March 2027 submission deadline; estimated shipping Q1 2028. Dates may change.

The same schedule listed non-IHP runs TTGF26c and TTGF26d closing December 7, 2026, and TTSKY26d closing November 30, 2026. Those deadlines do not mean the IHP shuttle is open. Tiny Tapeout says pricing varies by shuttle, design size, and whether a design is analog or digital; check the live homepage and price calculator for a specific quote rather than assuming a price from another run.

Will my design and files be public if I submit?

Yes. Under Tiny Tapeout B.V.’s Terms and Conditions, a submitted design is combined with other participants’ designs into an ASIC/PCB, and Tiny Tapeout and its contractors may perform the integration. The terms say the design and its documentation will be published on Tiny Tapeout’s website, GitHub pages, and promotional materials. Do not submit confidential material or anything you cannot make public.

  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Tiny Tapeout may refuse a design at its discretion. It also says it is not obligated to verify, review, test, or otherwise evaluate a submission; inclusion is not an endorsement.

Do I keep ownership of my chip design?

The terms distinguish your individual contribution from the combined design: you retain right, title, and interest in your design and documentation, while Tiny Tapeout owns the combined design. However, a submission must be licensed under Apache License 2.0 or compatible terms, and you warrant that you have authority to provide those rights and have complied with third-party licenses. In practice, that means checking the licenses and notices for any code or design material you use—not just deciding whether you own the top-level project.

Tiny Tapeout’s FAQ says its default templates use Apache 2.0 and advises contributors who fork existing work to preserve original notices and attribution. Separately, feedback you send Tiny Tapeout is licensed to it on an irrevocable, non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, transferable basis, with sublicensing rights. See the Terms and Conditions and FAQ.

Will Tiny Tapeout test my design or guarantee that it works?

No such guarantee is made. The terms state that the program and chips are provided “as is,” without express or implied warranties. Tiny Tapeout says it and the manufacturers do not test chips or manufactured designs and provide no guarantee of functionality, yield, quality, or performance. Treat submission as a fabrication opportunity, not a validated or debugged product.

What happens if the chip does not work or a run is not completed?

If your design is nonfunctional

The terms specify a conditional remedy: if a design is nonfunctional and the defect was not caused by you or another cause beyond Tiny Tapeout’s reasonable control, the stated sole and exclusive remedy is a voucher for future production runs equal to the fees paid for that design. This is not a general refund or assurance that a replacement chip will work.

If production is not completed

A separate clause says the design will be included in a future run at no additional cost, or the fees will be refunded if future inclusion is not possible. Do not conflate this incomplete-run remedy with the narrower voucher clause for an individual nonfunctional design.

Timing and delivery

Production and delivery dates are estimates that may change. Tiny Tapeout’s FAQ gives general guidance of six to nine months for fabrication, with fulfillment potentially bringing the total wait to a year; a particular run’s dated schedule is more useful than that broad estimate, but it is still not a delivery guarantee. See the FAQ and schedule.

What legal terms deserve a close read?

Beyond publication and licensing, review the indemnification and liability clauses before participating. The terms require contributors to indemnify Tiny Tapeout and specified related parties for certain third-party claims connected to breach, legal violations or IP infringement, chip use, or negligence or willful misconduct. The liability clause excludes various types of damages and caps aggregate liability at fees paid in the 12 months before the event giving rise to a claim.

How do I prepare an IHP submission?

  1. Confirm the run and deadline. Check the shuttle schedule for the current IHP run, its submission status, and estimated shipping date.
  2. Use the correct PDK and harden for it. Tiny Tapeout provides separate IHP Wokwi and IHP Verilog templates alongside general templates. A project hardened for SkyWater sky130A cannot simply be submitted to IHP using ihp-sg13g2; it needs correctly rehardened files for the target PDK.
  3. Check size and routing fit. The FAQ notes that size or routing limits can prevent a successful submission, and larger tile sizes may cost more. Verify the run’s requirements and quote for the actual design size.
  4. Audit rights and public content. Confirm that you can license the design and documentation under the required terms, preserve notices and attribution, and are comfortable with public release.
  5. Plan how you will access the chip. Tiny Tapeout says it does not ship bare dies. A devkit has a demo board and breakout board; the ASIC is on the breakout, while the demo board supplies a microcontroller and connectors or components for interaction. An occasional ASIC kit may also be offered. An FPGA board is not required for fabrication.
