To capture an entire web page in Playwright on a Mac, navigate to the page and call page.screenshot({ path: 'screenshot.png', fullPage: true }). Use page.screenshot() for PNG, JPEG, or WebP images; use the separate page.pdf() method for a PDF. macOS does not require a special full-page screenshot option.
Capture a full-page image with Playwright
After opening a browser page and navigating to the target URL, pass fullPage: true to page.screenshot(). This captures the full scrollable page rather than only the visible viewport.

Playwright documents PNG, JPEG, and WebP for screenshots. Set the path extension to the format you want, or pass the type option explicitly.

Export a PDF instead of an image
PDF output is a separate operation, not a screenshot type. Call page.pdf() to save a PDF. By default, PDF generation uses print CSS media.

Does macOS need a different procedure?
No Mac-specific variation to fullPage, image formats, or the PDF method is identified in the official Playwright guidance. The same API calls apply on macOS. However, rendered pixels can vary with the host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode. Troubleshooting
- The image shows only the viewport: Confirm the screenshot call includes
fullPage: true; without it, the capture is limited to the visible viewport. - The file format is not what you expected: Check the filename extension or set
typeto'png','jpeg', or'webp'. PNG is the default. - The PDF uses unexpected styling: PDF generation uses print media by default. Call
page.emulateMedia({ media: 'screen' })beforepage.pdf()when screen styles are desired. - Visual comparisons differ on Mac and another machine: Host OS and other environment factors can change rendering. Keep the operating system, browser version, settings, hardware conditions, and headless mode consistent as far as possible.
