- Fix capture settings. Keep the device and dimensions, URL, relevant page state, and timing consistent from run to run. Choose a delay long enough for the page’s meaningful content to render. Use

Cookie dialogs, rotating content, ads, and animations can create differences that are not regressions. Run capture requests safely
Keep the API key on a server or in another protected runtime, not in public client-side code. Its toHaveScreenshot() assertion supports difference thresholds such as maxDiffPixels, as well as a custom stylesheet for volatile elements. This is an adjacent comparison approach; the cited sources do not establish a ScreenshotMachine integration or a managed monitoring service in either product.
Rendering consistency matters. Playwright warns that host operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode can change rendering. Run comparisons in the same environment used to create the baseline where possible, and tune thresholds to the visual differences that matter. Check that both required values are present and correctly encoded. Confirm that the URL is valid and that credentials are not truncated or mistakenly sent under the wrong parameter name.
