YouTube says creators receive 70% of channel-membership revenue recognized by Google after local sales tax and other applicable fees are deducted. The remaining 30% is the arithmetic complement of that same net amount—not necessarily 30% of the member’s displayed rupee price. The exact payout depends on the deductions that apply to the transaction and the creator’s agreement.
How YouTube calculates a creator’s share
YouTube’s membership billing guidance says creators get 70% of membership revenue recognized by Google after local sales tax and other fees are deducted. YouTube says those deductions can depend on the country or region and the user’s platform. It also says payment-processing fees, including credit-card fees, are currently covered by YouTube. For a simplified calculation, let R be the membership revenue Google recognizes after the applicable deductions. The described creator share is 0.70 × R; the arithmetic remainder is 0.30 × R. This does not establish a creator’s rupee payout from the member’s displayed price, because that price is not necessarily the post-deduction amount.
Why 30% of the displayed Indian price is not a reliable payout calculation
YouTube’s official wording defines the share against recognized revenue after applicable deductions. It does not give a universal India-specific deduction schedule or a worked payout example for every member platform and transaction. So multiplying a displayed membership price by 70% can be a rough illustration, but it should not be presented as the amount a creator will receive.

In particular, the official materials do not establish one GST rate or app-store deduction that applies to every Indian membership. Do not assume one when estimating a specific payout. For the actual amount, review your channel’s Revenue analytics and the terms attached to your account.
India’s membership prices: current and previous tiers
YouTube lists India membership price tiers and maintains separate current and previous pricing tables. Examples of listed current tiers include ₹59, ₹119, ₹179, ₹239, ₹299, ₹359, ₹419, ₹479, ₹599 and ₹799; the current table continues through ₹39,999. Examples at the lower end of the previous table include ₹29, ₹59, ₹89, ₹119 and ₹159. These are price tiers, not creator payout amounts. YouTube says the pricing updates began rolling out gradually in May 2025, and that a member’s price may vary according to when they joined. For a particular membership, check the current price shown to the viewer at checkout rather than assuming every member pays the same tier.
What can change the amount a creator actually receives?
- Applicable deductions: YouTube’s 70% share calculation follows local sales tax and other applicable fees. Which deductions apply can depend on region and platform.
- Your agreement: YouTube’s Partner Earnings Overview describes a 70% share of net revenue for channel memberships after a creator reviews and accepts the Commerce Product Module. - MCN arrangements: YouTube notes that some multi-channel networks may take an additional share. If your channel is with an MCN, check its terms; the India billing guidance does not quantify a standard MCN deduction.
- Billing continuity in India: YouTube says recurring memberships in India can require payment-detail verification or re-entry because of RBI eMandate requirements. A membership can remain paused for at most 120 days before the membership and recurring charges are cancelled. How to check your own terms and earnings
- Check the agreement: In YouTube Studio, open Settings → Agreements and review the revenue-share terms that apply to your account.
- Confirm the membership setup: YouTube’s current setup guidance requires creators to review and accept the Commerce Product Module for memberships. See YouTube Help: Turn channel memberships on or off.
- Review actual revenue: Use your YouTube Studio Revenue analytics for your channel’s reported results. The general percentage alone cannot determine a specific transaction’s net amount.
- Verify the member’s price: Check the live India pricing information and the viewer’s account checkout, since tiers and prices can depend on when the viewer joined.
- Ask your MCN if applicable: Confirm whether your network takes a share beyond the YouTube revenue calculation and how it applies to your channel.
