You need at least 50 subscribers to live stream from the YouTube mobile app in India. That is an eligibility threshold, not a guarantee of an unrestricted audience: YouTube may limit mobile live-stream viewers for channels with fewer than 1,000 subscribers. Verification, channel standing, and enabling live streaming also matter.
What YouTube requires for mobile live streaming
YouTube’s mobile guidance sets the minimum at 50 subscribers, without stating a separate threshold for India. The same eligibility guidance requires that your channel be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and have live streaming enabled. You must also meet the age requirement: YouTube says streamers must be at least 16. YouTube’s mobile live-streaming instructions and its general live-streaming guidance describe these conditions.
Mobile device requirements
The cited mobile instructions specify Android 8.0 or newer, or iOS 8 or newer. Check that your phone’s operating system meets the stated requirement as well as the channel criteria.
Enable live streaming in advance
If this is your first time enabling live streaming, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours. Turn it on before you plan to broadcast, rather than waiting until you are ready to go live.

Eligibility is not the same as an unrestricted audience
Having 50 subscribers makes a channel eligible to use mobile live streaming, subject to the other requirements. YouTube may limit the audience for mobile streams when a channel has more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers. It may also set archived streams to private by default during that period. After a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, removing the audience limitation may take several weeks; reaching the threshold does not necessarily remove it immediately. YouTube explains these limits in its mobile streaming guidance.
Does the same subscriber minimum apply to computer streaming?
YouTube describes mobile, webcam, encoder, and console streaming as separate ways to go live. Its mobile instructions explicitly state the 50-subscriber threshold; the cited general guidance covers channel verification and recent restrictions but does not specify a computer-streaming subscriber minimum. So the supported answer is 50 for mobile live streaming, not a claim that other methods have no minimum. YouTube lists the available methods in its live-streaming tips.

Quick eligibility checklist
- Your channel has at least 50 subscribers if you are streaming from the YouTube mobile app.
- Your channel is verified.
- You have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- Live streaming is enabled; allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- You are at least 16 years old.
- Your device meets the cited minimum: Android 8.0 or newer, or iOS 8 or newer.
Why India does not have a separate mobile threshold here
YouTube’s mobile help page names the 50-subscriber requirement without giving India a different number for ordinary mobile live streams. India’s appearance in that page’s country list relates to streaming Playables; it should not be read as a special subscriber rule for regular live streaming.
