On August 5, 2025, HPE announced updates spanning network security, storage-based data protection and disaster recovery. The lineup included an AI-assisted SASE copilot for Aruba Networking EdgeConnect, expanded Aruba Central network access controls, the Alletra Storage MP X10000 for backup and recovery, and a planned Zerto integration hub with CrowdStrike. These are HPE’s announcements and claims from that date—not independent proof of performance or confirmation that every announced capability is available today.

What HPE announced

The announcement brought together products across HPE Aruba Networking, HPE Juniper Networking, HPE Alletra storage and HPE Zerto. The offerings address different parts of an organization’s infrastructure: network-edge and access security, backup storage, and recovery after a cyberattack. They are not a single product or an apples-to-apples set of alternatives.

Area Announcement Timing stated by HPE
Network security AI-powered SASE copilot for HPE Aruba Networking EdgeConnect; expanded Aruba Central NAC policies Announced August 5, 2025; the release does not establish present availability for every capability
Data protection Alletra Storage MP X10000 scale-out, all-flash object storage, with named data-protection software partners HPE said it was generally available and available that day, August 5, 2025
Cyber recovery Zerto integration hub, with CrowdStrike as exclusive launch integration partner HPE said the hub would be available in Q4 2025; that was a schedule, not confirmation of delivery

How the network security updates are intended to work

EdgeConnect SASE copilot

HPE described the copilot as an assistant that analyzes network and security conditions and surfaces insights for investigation. The examples in the announcement include finding open ports, identifying unpatched systems, locating security gaps and monitoring network activity. These are capabilities HPE says the copilot provides; the announcement does not establish independent efficacy testing or show how well it performs in a particular network.

Aruba Central NAC across mixed-vendor environments

HPE said Aruba Central Network Access Control (NAC) was expanded to enforce identity-based policies across Juniper and third-party devices as well as Aruba equipment. The controls are described as granular and applicable to users and IoT devices. For organizations with mixed-vendor networks, the stated aim is to apply access policy across a broader device environment rather than limit enforcement to one vendor’s equipment.

HPE also described integrating AppEngine for real-time application classification and risk-based policy enforcement. WebCC and URL filtering are intended to block malicious sites, bad IPs and risky content. The release describes these functions but does not provide independent compatibility testing or a full list of supported devices and applications.

Alletra X10000 and the data-protection software partners

HPE positioned the Alletra Storage MP X10000 as massively scalable, disaggregated all-flash object storage for enterprise data protection, backup and restore. It is designed, according to HPE, to support low recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs). HPE says customers can scale capacity, performance or both as backup volumes grow.

HPE named Commvault Cloud, Cohesity NetBackup and Veeam Data Platform as its first validated data-protection partners for X10000. At announcement time, HPE described Veeam’s release as upcoming; that wording does not establish its current status. The announcement does not offer an independent comparison of these software products or establish compatibility beyond the partner-validation statement.

How to read HPE’s performance figures

HPE published the following figures, each tied to specific qualifications. They are vendor claims, not neutral comparative test results, and should not be treated as guaranteed results for another configuration.

Claim HPE’s stated basis and qualification
Up to 1.2 petabytes per hour backup speed HPE says this is based on its analysis of public performance and benchmark data and internal testing of a specified four-node data-protection accelerator configuration with a three-node, one-JBOF X10000 cluster. HPE says actual results may vary with workload, deduplication ratio, backup software and deployment environment.
Up to 60:1 data reduction HPE attributes this to StoreOnce Catalyst Software working with a customer’s preferred enterprise data-protection software.
Up to 1.4 Tbps firewall throughput per rack unit HPE attributes this to the Juniper SRX 4700, based on HPE Juniper Networking’s analysis of public performance data for single-rack-unit configurations as of July 2025.

Zerto’s planned security integration hub

HPE announced a Zerto integration hub intended to let third-party cybersecurity solutions connect to Zerto data and support insights, workflow automation, data protection and disaster recovery. CrowdStrike was named the exclusive launch integration partner. HPE said the hub would be available in Q4 2025, but the announcement alone does not confirm that it was delivered on that schedule or is available now.

HPE said that when a threat is identified, CrowdStrike Falcon can enable recovery to clean points from seconds before the attack. This describes the vendors’ stated integration capability, not an independently verified recovery result. Organizations evaluating it would need to confirm current availability, supported configurations and recovery behavior with the vendors.

Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway Ultra (UCG-Ultra)
  • Runs UniFi Network for full-stack network management
  • Manages 30+ UniFi Network devices and 300+ clients
  • 1 Gbps routing with IDS/IPS
  • Multi-WAN load balancing
  • 0.96" LCM status display

What the announcement means for IT teams

The updates target distinct operational needs, so evaluation should begin with the problem an organization is trying to solve:

  • Network visibility and investigation: Assess whether the EdgeConnect copilot’s stated insights—such as open-port and unpatched-system identification—fit existing monitoring and response workflows.
  • Mixed-vendor access policy: Check whether Aruba Central NAC supports the organization’s actual network devices, identity sources, user groups and IoT estate; the announcement does not enumerate all supported combinations.
  • Backup capacity and recovery objectives: Determine whether X10000’s object-storage architecture and the selected protection software fit the required RPO, RTO, capacity growth and restore workloads. HPE’s peak performance claims are configuration-dependent.
  • Cyberattack recovery: Verify the Zerto–Falcon integration’s present status and the exact recovery workflow before relying on it in an incident plan.

David Hughes, HPE Networking’s SVP and GM of SASE & Security, described the company’s approach as “a multi-layered, zero-trust approach to protection,” including AI-driven continuous validation, anomaly detection and automated remediation. That is HPE’s characterization of its security strategy, not a substitute for assessing how particular controls behave in an organization’s environment.
