To record video on a Samsung Galaxy tablet, open the Camera app, select Video, frame your subject, and tap the record control to start. Tap it again to stop, then review the clip. For steadier footage or more control over the image and sound, adjust your setup and use the options your tablet actually supports; Galaxy tablet menus and features vary by model and software version.
Record a video with the Camera app
- Open Camera: Launch the built-in Camera app.
- Select Video: Choose Video from the available camera modes. The mode selector’s position and appearance can differ by device.
- Frame the shot: Hold the tablet in the position you want and check that the subject is in view.
- Start recording: Tap the on-screen record control.
- Stop and review: Tap the control again to end the recording, then open the clip to check its picture and sound.
Samsung’s camera modes and settings guide covers Galaxy phones and tablets, but it does not guarantee that every option appears on every tablet. If a control described there is missing, consult the user manual for your exact model and software version.
Choose a recording approach

Use Pro Video controls if your tablet has them
On supported devices, Pro Video can expose controls such as ISO sensitivity, exposure value, white balance, color tone, and microphone sound options. These can help you tailor a shot, but they are optional: you do not need to adjust them to make a basic recording, and not every Galaxy tablet includes Pro Video or every listed control. Samsung’s support guide describes camera modes and settings, with availability dependent on the device.
Check resolution and frame rate on your model
Resolution and frame rate are device-specific. Samsung’s 2018 specification sheet for the Galaxy Tab Active2 lists video recording at FHD (1920 × 1080) and 30 fps. Those figures describe that model; they are not a specification for the Galaxy Tab line as a whole. Check the Camera app’s available recording settings or your tablet’s official specifications for the options on your device.

Improve stability and sound
For a fixed or hands-free shot
A compatible tablet tripod mount can hold the camera in a fixed position. Check the clamp dimensions against your tablet before buying. This is a practical setup suggestion, not a Samsung-endorsed accessory or a guarantee of steadier results in every situation.
For handheld movement
Hold the tablet with both hands where practical and move smoothly. Samsung documents Video stabilization on supported devices, but the control is not universal. A stable grip or mount is a setup choice; no controlled comparison of stabilization modes or mounts is established here.

Pro Video may offer microphone sound options on supported devices. If you are considering an external microphone, first verify that it works with your exact tablet, its connector, and the recording app you plan to use. Compatibility with an unspecified tablet cannot be assumed.

When a camera option is missing
- Check the mode selector for options beyond standard Video; some modes may be grouped or presented differently.
- Consult the manual for your exact Galaxy Tab model and software version rather than assuming a feature is available across the tablet range.
- Confirm resolution, frame rate, stabilization, Pro Video, and microphone options in the Camera app or model-specific documentation before planning a recording around them.
