For more time away from an outlet, start with Windows’ power-efficiency mode, Battery Saver, lower screen brightness, and shorter idle timeouts. If your Slim 3i is usually plugged in, Lenovo Vantage’s Conservation mode can support long-term battery health—but it limits the charge available for your next outing. Menu labels and Lenovo features vary by Windows version and Slim 3i configuration.
Apply the settings that reduce power use now
Choose a more efficient Windows power mode
- Open Settings > System > Power & battery.
- Under the power mode setting, choose Best power efficiency when running on battery, if the option is available.
Lenovo says this mode saves the most energy among the available Windows modes by lowering performance; choose a less restrictive mode if an application feels too slow. Lenovo’s Windows 11 power-mode guidance describes the tradeoff. Settings labels can differ across Windows versions.
Turn on Battery Saver and set its threshold
- In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Power & battery and turn on Battery Saver.
- Set the battery percentage at which it should turn on automatically, if you want it to activate before you remember to enable it.
- Reduce brightness and close or restrict apps that do not need to run in the background.
Battery Saver limits background application activity. Lenovo provides separate instructions for Windows 10 and Windows 11; follow the path for the version installed on your laptop.

Open Settings > System > Power & battery > Screen, sleep, & hibernate timeouts and reduce the time before the display turns off and the computer sleeps or hibernates when unplugged. Shorter timeouts help when you step away and forget to close the lid or turn the computer off. Lenovo notes that the Slim 3/3i’s battery timeouts can differ from its plugged-in defaults; the exact controls may vary by Windows version.

Choose the right Lenovo operating mode
The IdeaPad Slim 3/3i guide describes Power Saving (Quiet) as appropriate for battery use. Where supported, switch operating modes in Lenovo Vantage or Lenovo PC Manager; Fn+Q is the guide’s shortcut. Use the mode and label actually shown on your computer, since availability differs by configuration and generation. Lenovo’s IdeaPad Slim 3/IdeaPad Slim 3i Series User Guide describes these options.
Pick a setting based on when you need the battery

Use Conservation mode for long-term health, not extra runtime
Lenovo says Conservation mode on the Slim 3/3i holds the battery at 75%–80% to benefit long-term battery health. It does not increase the runtime available from a full charge; it deliberately leaves less charge stored. Turn it off when you need a full charge before travel. Prevent drain while the laptop is idle
For a long break, hibernate or shut down rather than relying on standby. Standby continues to use energy, while hibernation or shutdown is better suited to leaving the laptop unused for a while. Lenovo’s general battery-life tips recommend those options for extended periods away.
Check battery condition if runtime keeps getting worse
Settings can reduce power use, but they cannot restore capacity lost through normal battery aging. Lenovo says batteries lose capacity over time with charging and discharging cycles, which can mean more frequent charging and shorter runtime. Check battery details or health in Lenovo Vantage where available. If the evidence points to degradation, use Lenovo support or parts lookup with the laptop’s exact machine type to confirm a compatible replacement; “IdeaPad Slim 3i” alone does not identify one universal battery.

Lenovo’s guide also describes letting a mostly plugged-in computer discharge below 20% and then charging it to 100% to recover full charging potential. This is guidance for that specific situation, not a routine battery-life trick or a reason to deep-discharge frequently. For charging estimates, the guide says normal charging from 0% to 100% typically takes 2–4 hours; its Rapid charge estimate is under one hour to 80% and under two hours to 100% when the computer is asleep, hibernating, or powered off. These are guide estimates, not guaranteed timings for every configuration. Lenovo’s guide provides those figures.
