Administrators should check that configuration, apply the fixed hotfix for their software branch, and investigate matching systems for signs of compromise.
What is CVE-2026-94127?
The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security describes CVE-2026-94127 as a heap-based buffer overflow, classified as CWE-122, in BIG-IP APM. Specially crafted traffic may let an unauthenticated attacker execute arbitrary code on a device when the affected configuration is present, potentially resulting in full system compromise. CERT-EU assigns the flaw a CVSS score of 9.8 in its September 22, 2026 advisory.
The Canadian Centre reports that F5 has indicated exploitation in the wild. It also says CISA added the CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on September 22, 2026. Treat a matching, unpatched system as an urgent remediation case; the advisories do not provide a verified victim count or exploitation-volume statistic.
Which BIG-IP systems are in scope?
The key applicability condition is configuration-specific: the same virtual server must have both an APM access policy and an OAuth profile. Do not assume every BIG-IP installation—or every APM deployment—is affected. Inventory virtual servers and confirm the configuration directly.

These are branch-specific thresholds, not interchangeable package names. The public advisories relay F5’s remediation information; verify the installed branch and applicable current instructions with F5 before deploying an engineering hotfix.

How should administrators remediate?
- Identify matching virtual servers. Inventory BIG-IP APM virtual servers and check whether each has both an APM access policy and OAuth profile configured.
- Apply the matching fix. For affected configurations, install the listed fixed engineering hotfix for the installed branch as soon as possible, following F5’s current remediation instructions.
- Use the interim mitigation only if necessary. If the hotfix cannot be applied immediately, contact F5 Support for the vendor-provided iRule. The iRule is an interim mitigation, not a replacement for installing the fix.
- Limit management access. Restrict BIG-IP management interfaces to trusted administrative networks.
How can teams check for possible compromise?
Review relevant access and audit logs, especially around unusual OAuth activity or administrative changes. CERT-EU says the combination of multiple OAuth authentication failures, suspicious commands, and a subsequent TMM SIGABRT should prompt human review. A TMM core file by itself does not prove compromise.
- Look for rapid or high-volume OAuth authentication failures.
- Inspect administrative accounts, access policies, and audit records for suspicious changes or commands.
- Correlate any TMM SIGABRT or core-file event with the surrounding authentication and command activity.
- Preserve forensic evidence and follow your incident-response process if indicators are found.
Because the flaw can permit arbitrary code execution and potentially full device compromise, do not treat a suspicious system as clean solely because one log review finds no obvious indicator. Escalate findings through established security response procedures.
