Which NVIDIA GPUs still get Windows 10 driver updates?
It depends on both the GPU generation and Windows version. NVIDIA’s July 2025 support plans set two separate timelines:

NVIDIA’s architecture plan describes Turing, Ampere, Ada, and Blackwell GPUs as continuing to receive Game Ready updates. Its schedule is a policy plan, not a promise that every GPU and operating-system combination will receive every release; check the current driver listing for your specific hardware.
Which GTX cards lose Game Ready driver support?
NVIDIA’s retirement schedule covers GeForce GPUs based on Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta. The official supported products list separates desktop and notebook GPUs, so confirm the exact model and product type rather than assuming a notebook card follows the desktop list.

Examples of affected desktop models
- Maxwell: GeForce GTX TITAN X, GTX 980 Ti, GTX 980, GTX 970, GTX 960, GTX 950, GT 945A, GTX 750 Ti, GTX 750, and GTX 745.
- Pascal: TITAN Xp, TITAN X Pascal, GTX 1080 Ti, GTX 1080, GTX 1070 Ti, GTX 1070, GTX 1060, GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1050, GT 1030, and GT 1010.
- Volta: TITAN V and TITAN V CEO Edition.
These are examples from NVIDIA’s desktop list, not a substitute for checking the separate notebook list. NVIDIA says Maxwell received 11 years of Game Ready Driver support and Pascal and Volta received nine years before the security-only transition.
Will my GTX 1060 still get NVIDIA drivers?
Yes, but not Game Ready drivers: NVIDIA lists the desktop GTX 1060 under Pascal, so it falls into the security-only schedule that began in October 2025 and runs through October 2028. A Windows 10 extension does not change that GPU-generation status. A June 16, 2026 GeForce Security Update Driver 582.66 listing supports Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11 and addresses security issues for Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta GeForce GPUs no longer supported by Game Ready drivers. That listing is an example of security-only support, not a guarantee of future updates for every hardware and OS combination.

Does Windows 10 support ending mean my NVIDIA GPU stops working?
No. Driver-support dates describe which updates NVIDIA plans to provide; they do not mean the GPU immediately stops functioning. But the kind of NVIDIA update available can change: Game Ready drivers include performance enhancements, new features, and bug fixes, while a security-only driver addresses critical security items. Microsoft’s Windows 10 Home and Pro lifecycle page gives October 14, 2025 as the end-of-support date for those editions and identifies version 22H2 as their final version. Existing LTSC releases have their own lifecycles, so that date should not be generalized to every Windows 10 edition.
How to check your GPU’s driver eligibility
- Identify the exact GeForce GPU model and whether it is in a desktop or notebook. For a notebook, check the system maker’s support page as well as NVIDIA’s lists.
- Compare the exact product with NVIDIA’s GPU support list. Do not infer notebook eligibility from a similarly named desktop GPU.
- Open NVIDIA’s driver download selector, choose the exact product and operating system, and review the available driver type and release notes.
- For a notebook, consult the OEM for recommended or certified driver updates. NVIDIA notes that supported notebook GPUs can receive its Game Ready and Studio drivers, but recommends checking the notebook manufacturer for recommended updates.
Keep the Windows and GPU timelines separate
NVIDIA’s planned October 2026 Windows 10 Game Ready endpoint concerns the operating system. The October 2025 transition for Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta concerns GPU architecture and update type. A GPU already moved to security-only updates does not regain Game Ready eligibility because Windows 10 remains supported for other GeForce systems. Conversely, a GPU on a continuing Game Ready schedule still needs a supported OS and an available driver for its exact model.
