First decide whether you need a picture of what is currently visible or one image of the entire scrolling webpage. On a Windows PC, Windows logo key + Shift + S opens Snipping Tool for a selected screen area. For a full-page capture, use the built-in screenshot feature in Microsoft Edge or Firefox. You can capture a page open in your browser; you do not need to upload it to a separate website.
Choose the right kind of screenshot
A regular screen capture records only the pixels currently displayed. It is the right choice for a chart, error message, or part of a page that fits on screen. A full-page browser capture can include content farther down the page, so it is the better option for a long article or receipt you need to preserve in one image.

Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
Edge’s built-in Screenshot tool can capture a full page or a selected area. Microsoft’s feature page describes accessing Screenshot from a site’s right-click menu. Browser menus may change, so if the wording or placement differs in your version, look for Screenshot in the page context menu or consult Microsoft’s current Screenshot Tool in Microsoft Edge page.
- Open the webpage in Microsoft Edge and wait until the part you want to capture is displayed.
- Right-click the page and look for Screenshot in the context menu.
- Choose the full-page option to capture content below the visible screen. Choose the selected-area option if you only need part of the page.
- Use the tool’s markup controls if you want to annotate the image, then copy or save it using the controls Edge offers.
Choose the full-page option when the material you need continues below the fold. A selected-area capture is more suitable when you want only a specific region, such as a table or a message.

Save the whole page in Firefox
Firefox offers a full-page capture option called Save full page. Mozilla documents the feature in its guide, Take screenshots in Firefox; follow the screenshot controls available in your current Firefox interface.
- Open the page you want to capture in Firefox.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot feature.
- Select Save full page rather than capturing only the visible portion.
- Download the resulting image using the option Firefox presents.
This method is intended for a single image of a scrolling page. If you only need the portion currently displayed, use a visible-area capture instead. The precise control placement can change with browser versions, so use Mozilla’s current support guide if you cannot find the screenshot feature.
Take a screenshot of part of a website in Windows
For a quick screen-area capture on Windows, press Windows logo key + Shift + S. Microsoft documents this shortcut for opening the Snipping Tool overlay. Select the area you want to capture, then use the controls offered by the tool to copy or save the result. This workflow captures a selected area of the screen; it does not automatically capture everything below the browser viewport. If you need the full length of a page, use Edge’s or Firefox’s full-page option instead.
Keep the capture focused
- Before selecting an area, scroll the relevant content into view and make sure the browser is showing what you intend to share.
- Select only the page region you need. This is useful when the browser frame, other tabs, or unrelated screen content should not be in the image.
- If your selection excludes information lower on the page, cancel or take another capture after scrolling; Snipping Tool’s screen-area workflow is not a substitute for full-page capture.
Use a Chrome extension if you need a full-page capture
The Chrome Web Store lists FullPage Capture – Full Page Screenshot. Its listing advertises one-click full-page capture and PNG, JPEG, and PDF export. Those are the extension’s own stated capabilities, not independent confirmation that it works on every website.
- Open the extension’s current Chrome Web Store listing and review its description and requested permissions.
- Install it only if you are comfortable granting those permissions.
- Use the extension’s controls to capture the page and select an offered export format.
- Check the resulting file to confirm it contains the page content you needed.
An extension is optional: Edge and Firefox document built-in full-page capture options, and Snipping Tool handles visible screen regions on Windows. Browser interfaces and store listings can change, so verify the current controls and permissions before relying on an extension.

Troubleshoot a capture that is missing or incomplete
The screenshot shows only what was on screen
You likely used an area-capture workflow. Snipping Tool’s Windows logo key + Shift + S shortcut opens a screen snapshot overlay; it does not scroll and capture the rest of a webpage. Use the full-page option in Edge or Firefox for content below the viewport.
You cannot find Screenshot in Edge
Microsoft describes Screenshot as available from a site’s right-click menu, but menu placement can change. Open the context menu on the webpage and look for Screenshot; if it is not shown, check Microsoft’s current Edge feature page for the latest guidance.
The Firefox capture has the wrong scope
When you want the entire scrolling page, choose Save full page in Firefox’s screenshot feature rather than a visible-area capture. If the control is unclear, use Mozilla’s support guide for current interface instructions.

A Chrome extension asks for permissions
Review the extension’s current store listing and requested permissions before installing. The listing’s claims are the extension publisher’s description; they do not establish compatibility with every site. If you do not want to add an extension, use a built-in browser option where available.
The full-page result does not show what you expected
Confirm that you selected a full-page capture rather than a selected area, and inspect the saved image before sharing it. If a page displays content only after you scroll or interact with it, bring that content into the page first and try again; capture behavior can depend on the page and the tool.

- One visible region on Windows: use Snipping Tool with Windows logo key + Shift + S.
- A complete scrolling page in Edge: use Screenshot from the page context menu and select its full-page option.
- A complete scrolling page in Firefox: open the screenshot feature and choose Save full page.
- A complete page in Chrome: an extension is one option, but review its current permissions and listing first.
- Repeatable captures from a program or MCP-compatible AI client: use an API or MCP workflow rather than manually capturing each browser window.
