Taking the 1st spot in my review of the top 5 work from home jobs by category is Customer Service jobs. This is by far, the most popular WFH jobs available. It is also the least difficult to enter – with minimal entry requirements.
Remote entry-level customer service/call center/phone agent roles offer a pay range of $10-$20 per hour. Mid-level WFH CS roles offer up to $25 per hour. Most senior roles may not advertise the pay.
WFH CS roles require you to have some of the following skills/qualification/equipment/tools:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Previous customer service (or phone phone-related customer service) a plus
- Conversant with Microsoft Office tools – Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Bilingual language skills a plus (not required by most roles)
- A separate, dedicated workspace with a computer, USB Headset, dual Monitors (recommended)
- Dedicated telephone line (preferably a landline) but a dedicated work mobile phone works – you also need a reliable internet connection
- Ability to engage people, friendly, confident, self-starter, positive attitude, excellent communication skills
- Willingness to work weekends – most of the roles are shift-based roles
- Proficiency in keyboarding/data entry

Sales jobs is no 2 in my review of the top 5 work from home jobs by category. This job category captured the second position because it has the second most available roles (after Customer Service roles).
Remote sales jobs pay vary by experience – pay range is between $30k-$100k – mostly commission-based
Remote sales roles require some of these qualifications/skills/equipment
- Persuasive approach to selling – previous sales experience added advantage
- Display a high emotional intelligence and has the ability to make people comfortable
- Ability to come up with a quick response to customer’s objections
- Access to a PC with Windows 10 (most roles require a minimum of Windows 8)
- A dedicated office space with a reliable high-speed internet connection and a USB Headset

The pay for WFH insurance roles fall in the same range as sales jobs – $30k-$100k – mostly commission-based

Remote WFH IT roles pay varies by experience and skills. Entry-level roles pay range from $13-$30 per hour, some mid-level roles offer up to $100 per hour. At the experience/manager levels, it gets more exciting – some roles pay up to $300,000 per year!
To be considered for a remote IT job you will require most of these skills/tools:

- Proficient in answering customer’s tech questions in a professional manner

Remote WFH accounting jobs pay varies by experience. Entry-level (limited experience) roles offer between $12 to $35 per hour – depending on experience. Mid-level roles offer up to $44 per hour – some of the roles quote per year pay – up to $100,000 for some of the roles. However, senior WFH account roles rarely quote pay in the adverts.
To be considered for remote accounting roles, you need some of the following skills/qualification/equipment:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field – some require High school diploma/GED
- Strong accounting and booking skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and time effectively
- Experience with QuickBooks Online
- Comfortable with managing monthly close
- Strong communication, time management, organization skills, consistently positive
- Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations
- Dedicated home office space with a computer, a reliable internet connection and work phone (landline or cell)
