How the overage calculation works
Screenshot Machine does not charge every extra request individually. After your included allowance is used, it counts additional fresh screenshots in complete groups of 1,000 and rounds down. The rate shown for your plan is applied to those complete groups.

- Round the remainder down to the nearest 1,000.
- Multiply the resulting number of 1,000-capture groups by the plan’s per-screenshot overage rate and by 1,000.
- Add that amount to the monthly subscription price.

For example, 1,999 additional Basic captures produce one billable group, so the overage is €4 rather than €7.996. The remaining 999 captures are below the next complete group. The Starter page does not state an overage price, so do not assume that captures beyond 100 are available or that they follow Basic’s rate.
Do repeated requests cost money?
They can be free when Screenshot Machine returns a cached image. The service says website screenshots are cached for 14 days and that only new, fresh screenshots are billed. A repeated request may therefore avoid both a fresh-capture charge and consumption of the fresh allowance, provided the requested result is still eligible for cache reuse.
Controlling freshness with cacheLimit
The API documentation describes cacheLimit from 0 to 14 days:
cacheLimit=0requests a fresh capture.- A value from 1 through 14 permits a cached result up to that many days old.
- Using a higher value can reduce cost and latency, but the image may not reflect the page’s current state.
For changing dashboards, prices or inventory pages, use zero or a short cache window. For stable documentation, marketing pages or archived reports, a longer window can prevent unnecessary fresh renders. Track cache behavior in your own request logs because the same URL can be fresh one day and cached the next.

Capture limits and documented options
Viewport dimensions
Documented viewport widths range from 100 to 1,920 pixels. Heights range from 100 to 9,999 pixels, and full is accepted for a full-length capture. These are API constraints, not a promise that every target site will render identically at every size. Responsive breakpoints, lazy loading and site-specific JavaScript can change the result.
Output formats
The documented output formats are JPG, PNG and GIF. WebP and PDF are not listed in the supplied API documentation, so confirm availability before designing a workflow that requires either.
Request model and rendering controls
The API uses HTTP GET requests and requires a customer key. The documentation also describes a capture-delay setting and the cacheLimit control. A delay can help pages finish client-side rendering, but it also increases response time and does not guarantee that a blocked resource, authentication wall or bot challenge will resolve.

Basic: small production jobs
At €9 for 2,500 fresh captures, Basic is the first paid tier for a modest monitoring job, a small documentation build or a handful of customer websites. Its rounded-down overage rule is forgiving when you finish just below the next 1,000-capture boundary.
Pro: regular automation
Pro raises the allowance to 20,000 fresh screenshots for €59. It is a better fit when your normal month is well above Basic’s quota and you need predictable headroom. Model peak months rather than only average months, because the lower Pro overage rate matters most after the included allowance is exceeded.
Enterprise: high-volume capture
Enterprise provides 50,000 fresh screenshots for €99 and the lowest listed overage rate, €0.002 per screenshot in complete 1,000-capture groups. It is the obvious tier to price for large site inventories or frequent regression jobs, but confirm contractual, support and rate-limit terms directly because the supplied pricing snapshot does not specify them.
How to compare a cheaper alternative
A lower headline price does not prove a lower bill. Compare the number of fresh captures you actually make, how often cached results are acceptable, the treatment of partial overage groups, request-per-minute limits, required output formats, full-page support, PDF requirements, support terms and tax.
