Amazon’s documented APIs currently provide different, narrower data: the Selling Partner API Customer Feedback API exposes review insights, topics, and snippets for eligible sellers and vendors, while the Associates Creators API exposes product-catalog data. Neither is documented as a general export of every individual review.
Choose the source before writing code. If you need sentiment-level insights, use Customer Feedback API when your account and marketplace qualify. If you need titles, brands, features, or technical attributes, use Creators API. Use Beautiful Soup only for an HTML document obtained through an approved route, and treat selectors as examples that must be checked against the markup you actually received.

For an ASIN-level Customer Feedback request, Amazon documents a child-ASIN requirement, a marketplace ID, and sorting by mentions or star-rating impact. The item-review-topics response contains the ten most positive and ten most negative topics. Those limits describe an insight product, not pagination over all review pages.
Decide which data you need
Catalog metadata
Use Creators API when the task is identifying products or retrieving catalog fields. Its operations are designed for product discovery and item information, not for downloading review bodies.

Review themes and snippets
Use Customer Feedback API if you are an eligible seller or vendor and your target marketplace is supported. Plan for weekly rather than real-time data, and for English output even when the marketplace is not English-speaking.
Complete individual reviews
No general, official full-review export is documented in the sources available here. Do not describe either official API as a review scraper. If your project requires HTML collection, first establish that the collection method and intended use are allowed under the current terms for the target marketplace and account. The applicable automated-collection rules were not resolved by the cited documentation, so avoid assuming that a page being publicly viewable makes automated collection permissible.

A safe Python parsing workflow for authorized HTML
Beautiful Soup parses a document you already possess. It does not make an HTTP request, bypass a challenge, authenticate you, or change the terms governing the source. Keep acquisition and parsing as separate stages:
- Acquire through an approved source. Save the response or export that your account and the source permit you to use.
- Inspect what you received. Check the status, content type, encoding, and a short preview. A login page, challenge page, or error document is not review data.
- Parse defensively. Expect missing fields and markup changes; never assume a selector is permanent.
- Store provenance. Record the ASIN, marketplace, retrieval time, source route, and parser version so downstream analysis can be audited.
Minimal parser for a saved, permitted document
The following example intentionally reads a local file. The CSS classes are illustrative: inspect your authorized document and replace them with selectors that actually exist there.

Validate before extracting
- Raise or log a clear error when the document is empty or is not HTML.
- Check that the expected review container exists; a zero count may mean changed markup or an access response, not zero reviews.
- Keep missing values as
None(or another explicit null) instead of silently shifting fields. - Normalize whitespace, but preserve the original document when your retention policy allows it.
- Write parser tests against saved fixtures so a markup change is visible in CI.
Calling the Customer Feedback API: scope your implementation
If your account has the documented role and your marketplace is supported, design the client around insights rather than review-page pagination. A request needs the child ASIN and marketplace ID. The response is expected to contain topic-level information, including the highest positive and negative topics according to the selected sort, rather than an archive of review records.

Before coding, confirm four values in the current Selling Partner API documentation and your account configuration:
- Seller or vendor authorization and the Brand Analytics role for the documented item-review-topics operation.
- A supported marketplace and its marketplace ID.
- A child ASIN, not a parent-only identifier.
- Your required sort mode (mentions or star-rating impact) and a plan for weekly refreshes.
Using Creators API for product context
Creators API is useful for joining approved review insights to catalog context such as product title, brand, features, and technical information. It is not a workaround for obtaining review text. Amazon Associates Central says, “Creators API sign up is available only to associates who have referred qualified sales and have been accepted into the program.” The same documentation lists 10 qualifying sales in the past 30 days as an eligibility condition in 2026; because eligibility rules can change, check the live registration requirements before implementation.

Common failure modes
“My parser found no reviews”
Print the document length, content type, and first few hundred characters. If you received a sign-in, challenge, consent, or error page, stop and use an approved source rather than trying to defeat it.
“The selector worked last month”
Markup is an operational dependency. Keep selectors in one module, test fixtures regularly, and fail loudly when the expected container disappears.
“I need more than ten pages”
The phrase “more than 10 pages” is informal reader wording, not evidence of a current Amazon limit or a supported pagination method. Customer Feedback API’s documented ten-positive and ten-negative topic result is a topic limit, not ten pages of reviews.
“I will switch to PA-API”
Do not start new work on the legacy route. Amazon’s documentation directs developers to Creators API and gives May 15, 2026 as the PA-API deprecation date.

A practical decision checklist
- Define whether the deliverable is catalog data, review insights, snippets, or complete review bodies.
- Identify the marketplace, language, ASIN scope, refresh cadence, and retention period.
- Confirm account eligibility and API roles before building requests.
- Use official APIs for the data they document; do not relabel catalog or insight responses as full reviews.
- For HTML parsing, obtain the document through a permitted route and keep acquisition code separate from Beautiful Soup.
- Document the current terms and permissions that apply to your account and use case; do not infer a legal conclusion from this tutorial.
