How to go Frame by Frame in YouTube

This Itechguide teaches you how to go frame by frame in YouTube. YouTube does not have an inbuilt tool that allows you go frame by frame in YouTube.

This Itechguide offers a way you can view a YouTube view frame by frame using a simple trick.

Step 1: Adjust the Playback Speed of the Video

  • Open the YouTube video you want to view frame by frame.
  • Then click the gear icon (Settings) beneath the video and select Playback speed.
  • On the Playback speed options, Normal will be selected by default.
  • Select 0.25 or 0.5. The purpose of this step is to reduce the speed of the video. The number you select depends on how granular you want the frames. To view more frames, use the lowest speed – 0.25.

Step 2: Use the Forward Arrow Key to Go Frame by Frame

Once you have reduced the Playback speed of the video, use the steps described to view the video in frames…

  • Pause the YouTube video and move it back to the beginning or to any part of the video you want to view.
  • Then press the forward arrow key on your keyboard to move the video forward 5 seconds at a time.

  • To go back by 5 seconds frame, use the back arrow in your keyboard.

  • The view will move in 5 seconds frames as you press the arrow keys..
To view the video in 10 seconds frames, press the J and L keys on your keyboard. The J key will move the video backwards by 10 seconds while the L key will move it 10 seconds forward.
