Why are my controls not working in FUR Squadron Phoenix on Switch 2?
First establish whether the input problem is limited to the game. Test the affected buttons and sticks in the HOME Menu, Nintendo’s built-in controller test, and another compatible game. Note whether the failure involves a particular input, the wireless connection, or every game you try.
- If inputs fail in system menus or more than one game, investigate controller settings, connection, or hardware before treating it as a game bug.
- If the controller passes Nintendo’s test and works in another game but fails only in FUR Squadron Phoenix, the pattern points toward a possible title-specific issue. It does not prove the cause; check for an available game update.

Why does my Switch 2 controller work in the menu but not in the game?
A controller working in the HOME Menu does not rule out a game-specific control setting or an input mapping issue. Check whether custom button mapping is active: Nintendo says a wrench icon beside the active controller indicates a custom mapping. Restore standard mapping while diagnosing, and check the game’s available control settings without assuming it has a particular undocumented option.
For Joy-Con 2 stick trouble, check that the controllers register as attached when attached, and remove any skins or covers from the controller and sticks. If the problem occurs only in the game after these checks, compare with another game and look for a game update.

How do I check whether a Joy-Con 2 stick is drifting or miscalibrated?
Use Nintendo’s Joy-Con 2 calibration and input troubleshooting steps, and check whether the stick input registers as expected. Also confirm there is no custom button mapping and remove covers or skins that could interfere with stick movement. If the stick remains inaccurate after supported checks, contact Nintendo about service; do not assume a replacement part or generic accessory is the established fix. How do I update and reconnect a controller?
- Update the console: install the latest available Switch 2 system software through System Settings.
- Update controllers: in System Settings, open the controller settings and run the controller update function for powered-on controllers. Menu wording or placement can vary by system software version.
- Check pairing and charge: confirm the controller is paired and charged. For a Pro Controller, Nintendo documents pairing through Controllers → Change Grip and Order; press its SYNC button when prompted.
- Reset a Pro Controller connection: press SYNC once, then press another button to wake it and reconnect.

How do I test a Pro Controller’s buttons?
On Switch 2, Nintendo’s documented route for a Pro Controller is System Settings → Controllers and Sensors → Test Input Devices → Test Controller Buttons. Press the buttons and move the sticks relevant to the problem, then confirm that the inputs appear in the test.
- If an input fails the system test, contact Nintendo support or service. Nintendo says it can inspect and service a Pro Controller that fails the button test.
- If the controller passes but the game still misses inputs, test another compatible game and check for a game update before concluding the title is at fault.

Could wireless interference be causing the controller problem?
If a Pro Controller works when wired or close to the console but becomes unreliable at normal distance, reduce wireless variables as a diagnostic. Move the console closer to the controller and avoid placing it behind a television, under metal, or within three to four feet of other wireless devices such as wireless speakers or cordless phones. This is a troubleshooting test, not a guaranteed remedy. Nintendo’s connection guidance is available through Nintendo Support.

The available official information establishes Switch 2 compatibility, not a specific frame rate or performance guarantee. No official game-specific Switch 2 performance notice or developer-published remedy is established here. A Reddit commenter in the FUR Squadron community described play as feeling smooth at 60 fps, but that is one player’s impression, not a measured test or expected result.
