For a directly accessed network share, create a FileSystem PSDrive with the UNC path and alternate credential, then run Copy-Item through that drive. For a remote computer’s local filesystem, use a credentialed PowerShell remoting session with Copy-Item -ToSession or -FromSession. These are different transfer paths; Copy-Item -Credential is not the general fix.
Copy files to a network share with another account
Use this approach when the destination is an SMB share such as \Server01Share. Microsoft documents New-PSDrive -Credential for a FileSystem drive rooted at a UNC path. The credential parameter does not take effect for other FileSystem drive roots. See Microsoft’s New-PSDrive reference.

Copy the file through that drive:
Copy-Item -Path 'C:Datareport.csv' -Destination 'X:report.csv'
Replace the server, share, and file paths with your own. The account must have the necessary share and filesystem permissions, and the destination folder must exist or be created first. This is the documented command pattern; whether it succeeds in a particular environment also depends on connectivity and server authentication policy.
Temporary drive or persistent mapped drive?
By default, the PSDrive is available only within the current PowerShell session. Add -Persist to create a Windows mapped network drive instead:

New-PSDrive -Name X -PSProvider FileSystem -Root '\Server01Share' -Credential $cred -PersistA temporary PSDrive is for PowerShell; other Windows applications cannot use it as a mapped drive. A persistent mapping has Windows user and session-context behavior. In particular, a drive mapped in an elevated session or under another user’s credentials may not be visible in a different context. Copy files to or from a remote computer’s local disk
If the target is a path on a remote computer rather than an SMB share, use PowerShell remoting. Create a PSSession with the account authorized for the remote endpoint, then transfer through it with -ToSession or -FromSession. Microsoft documents both directions in its Copy-Item reference.

Copy from your computer to the remote computer
$session = New-PSSession -ComputerName 'Server01' -Credential (Get-Credential)
Copy-Item -Path 'C:Datareport.csv' -Destination 'C:Inboundreport.csv' -ToSession $sessionThe destination path is on Server01. Use a path and account that the remote computer permits, and ensure the destination folder exists.
Copy from the remote computer to yours
Copy-Item -Path 'C:Outboundreport.csv' -Destination 'C:Datareport.csv' -FromSession $sessionHere the source path is on the remote computer and the destination is local. Close the session when you no longer need it:

Remove-PSSession $sessionRemoting requires that the remote endpoint be reachable and configured to accept the selected authentication method; a session does not bypass endpoint policy or filesystem permissions.

Although Copy-Item has a -Credential parameter, Microsoft’s PowerShell 7.6 reference states: “This parameter isn’t supported by any providers installed with PowerShell.” That makes it unsuitable as a general way to authenticate an ordinary filesystem copy to a UNC path. Use a credentialed UNC PSDrive for an SMB share, or a credentialed PSSession for a remote computer’s filesystem.

Choose based on the path you need to reach, not just on which account you want to use: a share connection and a remoting session are separate access mechanisms.
Common problems to check

Access denied: Confirm the account has the required share and filesystem permissions. Successful authentication alone does not grant access.

The mapped drive is missing: Check whether it was created only in another PowerShell session, under another user, or in an elevated context. A temporary PSDrive is not a system-wide mapped drive.

A remote local path does not work as a share path: Use a PSSession and

Remoting connection fails: Verify network reachability, endpoint configuration, authentication compatibility, and the account’s authorization for remoting.
