Richard Atodo reports a Docker Compose–based workspace with a minimal FastAPI backend and a React/TypeScript frontend, while database-backed ingestion, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI diagnosis remain future work. The project’s guiding sequence is “Evidence first. AI second. Human in the loop.”
What milestone 1 establishes
In an article published October 1, 2026, Richard Atodo describes completing the repository and local development setup for IncidentCopilot, a planned AI-assisted DevOps incident investigation project. The goal of this milestone is to make the workspace runnable and provide starting points for its backend and frontend. It does not demonstrate that the incident-analysis features are implemented.
The project is described as local-first: development is intended to run through Docker Compose rather than depend on AWS, Azure, GCP, paid APIs, or proprietary SaaS infrastructure. The planned stack names FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Qdrant, Ollama, and React, but the milestone article does not say every component is integrated. Atodo’s milestone report is the source for the project details below.
How the development foundation is organized
Backend starting point
The reported backend is a minimal Dockerized FastAPI application. It includes health and readiness endpoints and uses pydantic-settings for configuration. Backend package locations are defined, but the packages are intentionally empty; the repository structure is groundwork, not evidence of working ingestion or analysis services.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Frontend starting point
The frontend foundation uses React, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind CSS, and Lucide icons. Atodo reports a Node-based build image. Together, these choices establish a separate interface and build path without yet constituting the full incident dashboard described as later work.
Repository shape
The reported outline includes backend and frontend directories, runbooks, test data, evaluation materials, a Compose file, an example environment file, a README, and a Makefile. That gives the project places to grow operational guidance and evaluation alongside application code. The article does not claim that the runbooks, test data, or evaluation area already contain a complete incident workflow.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
What is not implemented yet
The distinction between a development foundation and an incident investigation product is important. Milestone 1 leaves the following work for later:
- PostgreSQL models and database-backed services.
- Log-ingestion APIs and parsers for Nginx, Kubernetes, Docker, and GitHub Actions.
- Normalization and correlation of incoming evidence.
- Qdrant and RAG integration, as well as Ollama integration.
- Structured AI diagnosis and a full incident dashboard.
Accordingly, PostgreSQL, Qdrant, and Ollama describe the stack direction, not completed capability in this milestone. The article identifies the next milestone as a FastAPI foundation backed by PostgreSQL.

- Sleek 7-in-1 USB-C Hub: Features an HDMI port, two USB-A 3.0 ports, and a USB-C data port, each providing 5Gbps transfer speeds. It also includes a USB-C PD input port for charging up to 100W and dual SD and TF card slots, all in a compact design.
- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Why the project puts evidence before AI
Atodo frames the architecture around “Build the evidence pipeline first. Let AI reason over verified evidence later.” In this approach, deterministic parsing, normalization, persistence, and correlation prepare the incident evidence; AI is intended to reason over that evidence rather than replace those steps. A human remains in the loop. These are the project’s design principles, not independently established performance claims about an implemented system.
Checks and setup issues reported by the author
Atodo reports one passing backend test, zero frontend lint errors, a successful frontend build, valid Compose configuration, and backend and frontend containers running locally. These are results reported in the milestone article; they were not independently reproduced here.

The author also describes several environment-specific setup fixes. They should be read as troubleshooting from that development environment, not universal requirements:
- Node.js: The author moved from Node.js v20 to v24 to address a Vite issue.
- Docker: The Docker CLI was installed, but the engine was stopped; starting Docker Desktop resolved the issue.
- Windows Make: The author used
mingw32-makeon Windows. - README encoding: Invalid UTF-8 in the README was corrected.
What to take from the milestone
IncidentCopilot milestone 1 is a completed local workspace and application scaffold, according to its author. It establishes a Compose-based development path and initial backend and frontend foundations, while leaving the evidence pipeline and AI-assisted investigation for future milestones. Its most useful architectural commitment is sequencing: first create trustworthy, structured evidence; then let AI assist with interpretation under human oversight.
