The right WhatsApp Business API provider depends on where your support team works. Intercom and Zendesk suit teams that already use those help desks; Wati and respond.io offer WhatsApp-focused shared inboxes and automation; Twilio and 360dialog are stronger fits when a team wants API access and can supply or build its own agent experience. There is no evidence-backed universal winner among these options.
This comparison is based on vendors’ own product, help, and pricing documentation available on October 4, 2026. It compares documented features and constraints, not independently tested performance or service quality.
WhatsApp Business API providers compared
The options below serve different operating models, so the table is a fit guide rather than a performance ranking. WhatsApp usage charges set by Meta may apply in addition to provider or help-desk fees. These costs are not directly comparable without matching destination countries, message categories, volume, and plan.
| Provider | Best fit | Support experience documented | Pricing information supported here | Important constraint |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Intercom | Teams already managing support in Intercom | WhatsApp conversations in Intercom Inbox | WhatsApp is a paid channel on Essential, Advanced, and Expert; exact price not stated (Intercom documentation) | Connected WABA must use USD currency; the connected number cannot remain active in the WhatsApp mobile app under the described integration |
| Zendesk | Teams already using Zendesk Agent Workspace | WhatsApp social messaging in Agent Workspace | Requires an appropriate Suite plan or Social Messaging add-on; exact price not stated (Zendesk documentation) | Connected number loses WhatsApp calling; group messaging is unsupported |
| Wati | Teams seeking a WhatsApp-centered shared inbox and automation | Assignment, internal notes, conversation history, routing rules, automation, and other messaging channels | Prices not stated in the cited documentation | Multi-channel inbox availability depends on plan; Coexistence eligibility and syncing limits apply |
| respond.io | Teams wanting a multi-user inbox, routing, workflows, and CRM connections | Centralized inbox, AI agents, lifecycle tracking, and WhatsApp support | Subscription price not stated; Meta message fees remain additional | Its no-setup-fee and no-message-markup statements are vendor-published, not independent comparisons |
| Twilio | Engineering-led teams building custom support workflows | Programmable messaging and two-way Conversations API for support | $0.005 per inbound or outbound message handling fee, plus applicable Meta template fees; Twilio pricing page current as of August 2026 | Handling fee is not the total WhatsApp message cost |
| 360dialog | Teams needing API access and arranging their own inbox or help desk | API setup documentation, sandbox, and send/receive guides | Vendor documentation lists $59 USD/month Regular, $119 USD/month Premium, and $299 USD/month Higher Throughput upgrade; accessed October 4, 2026 | Subscription is separate from Meta usage and call charges; confirm live price and currency |

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
1. Intercom: WhatsApp inside an existing support inbox
Intercom documents WhatsApp conversations in Intercom Inbox. This is a practical fit when agents already use Intercom to handle customer conversations and the goal is to add WhatsApp to that workflow rather than create a separate queue.
Features and fit
- WhatsApp is available as a paid channel on Intercom Essential, Advanced, and Expert plans.
- The documented integration routes WhatsApp conversations into Intercom Inbox.
Setup constraints
Intercom’s setup documentation says the connected WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) must use USD currency for compatibility. Under the described integration, the same phone number cannot remain active in the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business mobile app at the same time. Resolve those conditions before planning a number connection.
Pricing and limits
The cited documentation does not state the price of the plans or WhatsApp channel. Treat the channel as an added paid component and account for applicable Meta charges separately; the exact total is not established here.

2. Zendesk: WhatsApp messaging in Agent Workspace
Zendesk documents WhatsApp social messaging in Agent Workspace. It is aimed at teams that already work in Zendesk and want WhatsApp handled alongside their established agent workflows.
Requirements and capabilities
- An appropriate Zendesk Suite plan or Social Messaging add-on is required.
- The setup requires a business-owned Meta Business Manager and includes phone-number setup or migration steps.
Costs and limits
The cited Zendesk help documentation does not give the plan or add-on price. It also notes that WhatsApp calling is lost on the connected number and that group messages are not supported for this channel. Those trade-offs matter if the number is used for calls or customer group conversations.

3. Wati: WhatsApp-centered shared inbox and automation
Wati describes a customer-engagement service centered on WhatsApp, with a shared Team Inbox and tools for collaborative support. Its documented features include conversation assignment, internal notes, conversation history, routing rules, and automation.

Channels and plan gates
Wati also describes multiple messaging channels. Its help documentation says multi-channel inbox availability depends on plan: the specific multi-channel inbox feature is available on Pro and Business. Do not assume every plan includes the same channel coverage.
Using an existing WhatsApp Business App number
Wati documents WhatsApp Coexistence, which can let the WhatsApp Business App and Cloud API operate on the same number when the account and setup are eligible. Wati says the described flow can sync up to six months of chat history. Group chats and certain special message types do not sync. The six-month figure is a vendor-stated maximum for that flow, not a guarantee that every conversation or account qualifies.
Pricing and limits
The cited Wati documentation does not establish plan prices. Confirm Coexistence eligibility and the exact plan features with Wati before relying on the mobile-app and API arrangement.

4. respond.io: shared inbox with routing, workflows, and CRM connections
respond.io describes a centralized multi-user inbox with routing, workflows, AI agents, lifecycle tracking, CRM connections, and WhatsApp support. It is a fit to consider when the team wants a dedicated messaging workspace with automation and broader customer lifecycle context.
WhatsApp status and charges
respond.io identifies itself as a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider and Meta Premier Partner. Its own page says it charges no setup fee or message markup, while its subscription is additional to Meta’s message fees. These are vendor-published claims; they do not establish the total cost for a particular support operation or independently compare performance.
Pricing and limits
The cited material does not state subscription prices. Budget for the subscription and Meta usage charges, then compare them against the cost of putting WhatsApp into an existing help desk or building an API-led setup.

5. Twilio: programmable WhatsApp support for custom builds
Twilio documents WhatsApp Business API messaging and calling, programmable messaging, and a two-way Conversations API for support. It is relevant when engineers need control over workflows or want to connect WhatsApp to a custom agent interface. The team must account for the software and operations needed around the API, such as the inbox and workflow implementation.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Handling fee and total cost
Twilio’s pricing page, current as of August 2026, lists a handling fee of $0.005 per inbound or outbound message. That is Twilio’s fee, not the full WhatsApp cost: applicable Meta template-message fees are additional, and the relevant charges depend on destination market and message category.
Who it suits
Choose this path when the team can build or connect the agent experience and manage the integration. If agents need an out-of-the-box shared inbox, the cited Twilio material does not establish that the API fee includes one.

6. 360dialog: WhatsApp API access with a separate inbox decision
360dialog’s documentation emphasizes WhatsApp API access and setup, including an API sandbox and guides for sending and receiving messages and completing business verification. It is an API-provider option for teams that can arrange an inbox or help desk separately.

Who it suits
Consider 360dialog when the priority is API connectivity and the team is prepared to provide or select the agent workspace. The cited setup documentation does not establish a complete customer-support inbox as part of the listed channel subscription.

How to choose a provider for customer support
1. Start with the agent workspace
If agents already work in Intercom or Zendesk, compare adding WhatsApp there with introducing a new inbox. For a WhatsApp-focused workflow, compare Wati and respond.io’s documented collaboration and automation features. For a custom build, plan for the inbox and integration work in addition to API access.
2. Map the work agents must do
List the operational needs that matter to your support team:
- Assigning and routing conversations to the right agent or team.
- Collaborating internally, preserving conversation context, and escalating to a person when automation is insufficient.
- Tracking response and resolution performance.
- Connecting customer records to the CRM or help desk agents already use.
- Handling other messaging channels and the number of queues or numbers the team operates.
Feature availability can be plan-dependent. The sources do not provide a comparable independent measure of support quality or reporting effectiveness across providers.
3. Calculate total cost for your actual messaging
Model the platform or subscription fee alongside Meta charges for the destination countries, message categories, and expected usage. Twilio’s per-message handling fee and 360dialog’s recurring per-channel subscription use different pricing structures. respond.io states that its subscription is additional to Meta fees and that it adds no message markup; Intercom and Zendesk require paid channel access or an eligible plan. Without the same volume, destinations, and categories, headline prices are not an apples-to-apples comparison.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
4. Check ownership, migration, and mobile-app use
Before moving a number, establish which Meta Business Account owns it, whether the number can migrate from its current provider or app, and what happens to history, mobile-app access, and calls. The documented constraints differ: Intercom’s described setup requires USD WABA currency and does not allow the same number to stay active in the mobile app, while Zendesk warns of lost WhatsApp calling on the connected number. Wati documents a Coexistence path, subject to eligibility and sync limitations.
5. Decide who operates the integration
A help-desk channel or shared inbox places more of the agent experience in a vendor interface. An API-led route gives the team responsibility for deciding or building the inbox and handling integration operations such as webhooks, retries, templates, monitoring, and agent permissions. Also identify who will handle Meta onboarding, number verification, template approval, delivery failures, and account issues. Available sources do not establish an independent cross-provider comparison of support quality for these tasks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which WhatsApp Business API provider is best for customer support?
There is no evidence-backed universal winner. Intercom and Zendesk fit teams already using those platforms; Wati and respond.io document shared inbox and automation capabilities; Twilio and 360dialog fit API-led setups where the team can provide the agent experience.
What does WhatsApp Business API support cost?
Costs may combine Meta usage charges with the provider’s subscription, channel, or per-message fee. The documented figures include Twilio’s $0.005 handling fee per inbound or outbound message, plus applicable Meta template fees, and 360dialog’s published monthly tier examples. Those figures use different pricing models and do not establish a comparable total; channel and plan charges for other providers are not stated in the cited material.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesCan I keep using the WhatsApp Business mobile app with an API provider?
It depends on the provider and setup. Intercom’s described integration does not allow the same number to remain active in the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business mobile app. Wati documents Coexistence for eligible accounts, with limits on which history and message types sync.
Do API providers include an agent inbox?
Some of the compared options document a support workspace or shared inbox, including Intercom, Zendesk, Wati, and respond.io. Twilio and 360dialog are relevant to API-led setups; the cited material does not establish a complete agent inbox as part of their API access.
Does the connected WhatsApp number support calls and group messages?
Zendesk’s documentation says WhatsApp calling is lost on the connected number and group messaging is unsupported for its channel. Wati’s Coexistence documentation says group chats do not sync in the described flow. These limitations are specific to those documented setups, not a universal statement about every provider.
