The privacy entries summarize developer disclosures in the Chrome Web Store; they are not independent audits. Store ratings, user counts, and feature descriptions are also not substitutes for checking whether the extension behaves as you expect on the site you use.
Install carefully and limit site access
Before installing an extension, review its requested permissions and decide which sites actually need access. Google explains that a data-access warning means an extension may have a capability; it does not, by itself, prove the extension is dangerous. Website access can potentially let an extension read, request, or modify information on pages. See Google’s explanation of permissions requested by apps and extensions.
- Open the extension’s Chrome Web Store listing and review its permissions and privacy disclosures before adding it.
- In Chrome, open the menu, then choose Extensions > Manage extensions. Google’s extension management help documents managing installed extensions and their access.
- Open the extension’s details and find its site-access control. Choose access only when you select the extension or limit it to the current site when that is sufficient; avoid automatic access to all sites unless you need it.
- When you use the extension, confirm Chrome permits it on that page. If it cannot find images, check the site-access setting before assuming the page has no downloadable images.
Chrome’s available controls can allow access when selected, automatically on the current site, or automatically on all sites. You can adjust site access in extension settings. The narrowest permission that supports your task is the sensible default.

Why an image may be missing or different from what you expected
An image downloader works with images available to the page and accessible to the extension. A site may display content in ways that make discovery less straightforward, and a listing’s broad compatibility claim cannot promise that every site or image will work. If a result is missing, try the following:
- Confirm the extension has permission to access the current site.
- Reload the page and reopen the extension after the images have appeared.
- Use the extension’s available dimensions, URL, or format filters to check whether a filter is excluding the item.
- For one image, try opening or saving that image directly from the page if the site provides a normal image element and browser context-menu option.
- If you need a visual record of the whole rendered page rather than separate image files, use a screenshot workflow instead.

Check reuse rights before publishing a downloaded image
Downloading an image does not grant permission to republish it. Imageye’s Chrome Web Store listing warns that images may be protected by copyright and advises users to check the image license and specific reuse terms. Before using a saved image in a website, presentation, product, or social post, identify the rights holder and confirm that your intended use is allowed. The extension’s ability to save a file is not evidence of a license.
