The control sequence and available levels vary by model, so check the control labels and your exact model’s manual if those steps do not match your microwave.
Change the power level on a microwave with a Power Level button
- Press Power Level.
- Enter the desired level using the number buttons.
- Enter the cooking time, then press the start control. On some models, the control is labeled OK/START.
Samsung gives this sequence as general guidance, while noting that features and operation vary by model. Its instructions for the ME17R7021 and ME16A4021, for example, describe selecting a preset and setting a time before choosing the power level. When the controls use a mode, dial, or touchscreen
Some interfaces do not use a standalone Power Level button. A Samsung-hosted Dacor guide, for example, instructs users to choose Microwave, enter a cooking time, select a level using on-screen controls or corresponding number buttons, and press Start. Follow the prompts shown on your microwave and consult its model-specific manual; this Dacor sequence is an example of interface variation, not a universal Samsung procedure. Samsung US support notes that operation varies by model, and the Dacor Microwave User Guide illustrates a separate screen-based workflow.
What the power-level numbers and labels mean
Power-level names and number mappings are not universal. Samsung UK lists these example labels; the names may differ on other models:

Example wattage chart for a 1000 W model
Samsung Australia provides this example for a 1000 W microwave. The wattage values are tied to that stated model rating; your microwave’s output and available options may differ.

Adjust cooking time when you change power
Samsung Australia’s general guidance is to decrease cooking time at a higher power and increase it at a lower power. The right time depends on the food, recipe, and appliance, so use the cooking instructions for the dish and your model rather than treating the chart as a time-conversion formula. Remember to select the level again for the next cook
Samsung’s US and UK guidance says the selected power level returns to maximum after a cooking operation. If you want a lower setting on your next cook, select it again. Samsung US; Samsung UK

Some model guides support separate times and power levels for successive stages. The Samsung-hosted Dacor guide describes up to two stages, each with its own time and level.
