Netflix reported that its bug bounty program had paid more than US$1 million in cumulative rewards since its 2016 launch. That is a program-wide milestone—not an annual payout, a current bounty ceiling, or a promise of what any one researcher will earn. Netflix’s current instructions direct potential vulnerability reports to its HackerOne program.
What Netflix’s $1 million milestone includes
In its 2024 milestone announcement, Netflix reported the following cumulative figures. They are announcement-era totals, not verified current lifetime metrics:

The 26% figure refers to valid reports, not all submissions. Netflix did not state in the announcement that these totals were updated beyond the milestone it described. SecurityWeek independently reported the milestone on May 29, 2024.
How Netflix’s HackerOne transition fits in
Netflix said the program was moving to HackerOne. At the time, the company also outlined plans for enhanced triage, increased bounty ranges, expanded scope, more promotions and spot checks, exclusive private programs, and feedback loops for researchers. Those were plans announced then; Netflix’s current help page confirms HackerOne as the reporting route, but does not establish that each planned change remains in effect or specify current scope or rewards.

HackerOne’s March 6, 2025 press release listed Netflix among companies that had launched programs on its platform. The release also cited more than $77.2 million in researcher rewards “in the last year” across HackerOne; that is a platform-wide figure, not Netflix’s payout.
Where to report a Netflix security vulnerability
Netflix’s Responsible Vulnerability Disclosure help page directs potential security vulnerability reports to its HackerOne bug bounty program. Review the current program terms there before submitting: eligibility, scope, and rewards are governed by those terms, not by the historical $1 million milestone.

Use customer support for customer problems
A bug bounty program is for potential security vulnerabilities, not ordinary Netflix service requests. Netflix directs account, billing, and content questions to customer support, and points members dealing with account fraud or malware to the relevant help pages. Start at the Help Center for those issues rather than filing them as vulnerability reports.
