To improve in Dicevaders, treat dice control as a resource, build around the units and artifacts your run actually offers, and place pieces with scoring and synergy in mind. Chrono can reroll dice or restock the shop; Budge nudges dice toward a desired result. Neither needs to be spent just because a roll or shop is imperfect.
Make each roll solve a specific problem
Before spending a control resource, decide what the turn needs: a useful unit, a scoring combination, or a shop option that supports your plan. Dicevaders’ official Steam description says Chrono can reroll dice and restock the shop, while Budge nudges dice. That gives Chrono two different jobs: changing the current roll or changing what you can buy.
- Use Chrono on the dice when a reroll could create a valuable scoring outcome or improve the board now.
- Use Chrono on the shop when a fresh set of options is more likely to help than another roll.
- Spend Budge deliberately when a small adjustment completes a pair, triple, or quadruple and the scoring benefit is worth the resource.
The game’s announcement describes pairs, triples, and quadruples as combinations, but the available official information does not establish a universally best combination or a fixed Chrono/Budge budget. Draft for the run you have, not the one you hoped for
Recruiting units and artifacts is central to Dicevaders, but a promising early synergy is not a promise that the shop will keep supporting it. Preserve a coherent direction while judging each new option by what it contributes now and how it fits the pieces you already have. If the shop stops offering useful support for a narrow plan, pivot rather than spending turn after turn trying to force it.

This flexibility is also a useful way to think about resource use: avoid investing in a theoretical build at the expense of the scoring or board needs immediately in front of you. Place units with scoring and synergy in view
The official game description emphasizes that grid placement affects scoring potential. Before committing a placement, look at the available dice combinations, where those combinations can score, and which units or artifacts benefit from them. A placement that supports the current scoring objective may be more useful than one that only appears to strengthen a build on paper.

There is no supported universal formation to copy: the reviewed official material does not specify an optimal layout or exact placements for individual commanders. Let your commander and the opposing Pilot shape the plan
Commanders have distinct strategic approaches, perks, artifacts, and specialized synergies, according to the official description. Start by considering what your selected commander naturally supports, then adjust to the units and artifacts available in that run. The game also warns that Pilots have unique abilities designed to disrupt the invasion, so account for the threat you face rather than assuming one strategy fits every encounter.

The available information does not support a commander tier list or a detailed counter guide for each Pilot. A Steam community player also described Chapter 2 as a difficulty wall in a run without a perk after the first boss; that is one player’s report, not evidence of how often this happens or of a general balance problem. Recheck Chapter 6 advice against the current patch
Dicevaders released on 29 September 2026. In Patch #1 notes dated 2 October 2026, the developer said Chapter 6 had been rebalanced after feedback that it was not fun for many players. Exact boss values and tactics can therefore become outdated quickly; check the current patch before relying on a guide that gives specific numbers or a fixed Chapter 6 solution.
