Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteApple’s free AirPort Utility is the closest iPhone equivalent to an Android Wi‑Fi analyzer for scanning nearby networks. Install it, enable Wi‑Fi Scanner in Settings > Apps > AirPort Utility, then open the app and tap Wi‑Fi Scan. The setup path is documented in Intuitibits’ 2025 lab guide, not in Apple’s App Store description. iOS still does not provide a general-purpose Wi‑Fi scanning API, so no ordinary iPhone app is a feature-identical replacement for a desktop or Android radio analyzer.
How to scan nearby Wi‑Fi networks on an iPhone
- Install Apple’s AirPort Utility from the App Store. The U.S. listing currently shows it as free for iPhone and iPad, with iOS 9.0 or later listed as the minimum; App Store availability and requirements can change.
- Open Settings > Apps > AirPort Utility.
- Turn on Wi‑Fi Scanner. This menu is hidden until enabled.
- Open AirPort Utility, tap Wi‑Fi Scan, choose the scan duration if prompted, and start the scan.
The toggle-and-scan workflow is described in the Intuitibits Mastering WiFi Explorer Pro lab guide (WLPC Phoenix 2025). Menu names may vary slightly with an iOS release, so use the current labels shown on your device.
What AirPort Utility can—and cannot—replace
AirPort Utility is the closest supported option for a nearby-network scan, but it should not be described as a full professional spectrum analyzer. Apple’s TN3111, iOS Wi‑Fi API overview, states: “iOS does not have a general-purpose API for Wi‑Fi scanning and configuration.” That platform restriction limits what third-party iPhone apps can discover about surrounding access points and radio conditions.
| Need | Best fit on iOS | What the sources establish |
|---|---|---|
| See nearby Wi‑Fi networks | AirPort Utility Wi‑Fi Scan | Closest supported iPhone option; enable the scanner in Settings first. |
| Inspect devices already connected to your home network | Network Analyzer: WiFi Scan | The App Store listing describes LAN discovery plus ping, traceroute, port scanning, DNS and Whois tools. |
| Check internet or Wi‑Fi connection problems | Apple’s troubleshooting steps | Use Apple’s support sequence before assuming a radio-analysis problem. |
| Professional spectrum or complete channel-utilization analysis | No feature-identical iPhone app established here | Apple’s API limitation means AirPort Utility should not be promised as a full survey instrument. |
Choose the tool for the problem you actually have
You want to compare surrounding networks
Use AirPort Utility’s Wi‑Fi Scan. This is the relevant choice when you are investigating nearby access points, signal visibility or possible channel crowding. The cited materials do not establish that the iPhone scan provides every measurement available from dedicated desktop survey software, so treat it as a practical scan rather than a complete RF survey.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
You want to find devices on your own LAN
Use Network Analyzer when the question is “Which devices are connected to my router?” Its current U.S. App Store listing covers local-network discovery and diagnostic tools such as ping, traceroute, port scanning, DNS and Whois. Those are different from a passive scan of nearby radio networks, and the listing does not claim an equivalent surrounding-network analyzer. The listing also describes optional Pro features; verify current pricing and capabilities in the App Store.

- Dual-band Wi-Fi with 5 GHz speeds up to 867 Mbps and 2.4 GHz speeds up to 300 Mbps, delivering 1200 Mbps of total bandwidth¹. Dual-band routers do not support 6 GHz. Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- Covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. with four external antennas for stable wireless connections and optimal coverage.
- Supports IGMP Proxy/Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN to optimize IPTV streaming
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks
- Confirm Wi‑Fi is on and Airplane Mode is off.
- Test another device on the same network.
- Move within range of the router and check whether its firmware is current.
- If the router offers more than one frequency, try the other available frequency.
- If other devices or locations are also affected, contact your internet provider; if the problem is limited to the iPhone, contact Apple or continue with Apple’s device-specific steps.
Use Reset Network Settings only after those checks fail. It removes saved Wi‑Fi networks and passwords along with related cellular, VPN and APN settings, so you will need to reconnect and re-enter credentials.

Android and desktop analyzers can sometimes inspect a broader set of nearby access-point and channel information because their platforms expose different radio APIs. iOS deliberately does not offer a general-purpose scanning and configuration API, as Apple documents in TN3111. An App Store title that includes “Wi‑Fi,” “signal,” “speed test” or “scanner” therefore does not, by itself, prove that it can passively survey surrounding networks.

Practical decision checklist
- Nearby access points: AirPort Utility, with Wi‑Fi Scanner enabled in Settings.
- Devices on your existing network: Network Analyzer.
- One failed connection: follow Apple’s support sequence first.
- Full professional RF analysis: do not assume an iPhone app supplies it; the cited iOS API documentation does not support that expectation.
