To improve battery life on the India-market realme P4 5G, first identify which apps are using power, then limit background activity only for apps that do not need timely updates. For overnight or idle drain, consider Sleep standby optimization—but it can delay notifications. The P4 runs realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15; menu labels may shift after software updates.
Find what is using battery
After you notice an unusual drop, check the phone’s own usage report before changing settings. It can show whether a particular app is consuming power in the foreground or while running in the background.
- Open Settings > Battery > Battery usage by app.
- Review the apps listed and inspect foreground and background use. Focus on apps with substantial background activity, especially if their use does not match how often you open them.
These are the realme UI 6.0 instructions for the P4 5G. If a label differs after an update, search Settings for “battery.” realme’s battery-usage instructions describe the usage screen.
Restrict background use selectively
For an app that is using more power in the background than you expect, realme UI 6.0 provides app-level battery controls. Avoid applying restrictions indiscriminately: an app that cannot run in the background may sync less often or fail to deliver alerts promptly.

- Go to Settings > Battery > Power saving settings > App battery management.
- Select the app you want to adjust.
- Choose the option that fits the app’s role: allow background activity when timely syncing matters, use Smart mode for a balance, or restrict background activity for apps that do not need to stay active.
Keep background access for services where a delay would matter, such as messaging or time-sensitive alerts. realme’s app battery management guidance lists these controls.
Reduce drain while the phone is idle
If the main problem is battery loss while the phone is left unused, Sleep standby optimization is designed to reduce power use during sleep. Its tradeoff is that app messages may not arrive in time.

- Open Settings > Battery > Power saver options.
- Turn on Sleep standby optimization.
Leave it off if prompt delivery of messages or other app notifications is more important than reducing idle drain. The setting path and notification caveat are described in realme’s Sleep standby optimization support information.
Use charging features for long-term battery health
Wise charging and optimized night charging are charging-management features intended to help slow battery aging. They address battery health over time, not necessarily how long the phone lasts on today’s charge. What battery life to expect
realme lists the P4 5G battery at 7000 mAh typical and 6830 mAh minimum on its India specifications page. That capacity does not guarantee a set number of hours: realme says actual battery life depends on usage conditions. Screen use, apps, connectivity and other day-to-day demands can change the result. There is no independent controlled battery-life test established here, so scenario-specific manufacturer claims should not be treated as a typical owner’s guaranteed runtime.
The product page also lists charging up to 80 W; reaching that maximum requires the realme 80 W charger and original cable. Charging speed is not evidence of longer runtime per charge. See realme India’s P4 5G product information.
