If you want to play Kingdom Hearts portably, choose the native Switch 2 collection. For a home console, choose the version for the system you already own; the collection is announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as well. If you specifically want a boxed collection, Square Enix lists physical editions for Switch 2 and PS5, while Xbox lists its bundle as a digital preorder. The older original-Switch cloud editions are no longer sold and are scheduled to stop working on June 9, 2027.
What is included in KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III]?
Square Enix lists the collection for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with launch scheduled for October 8, 2026. It combines three packages:
- KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-: KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX, Re:Chain of Memories, KINGDOM HEARTS II FINAL MIX, a 358/2 Days HD cutscene compilation, Birth by Sleep FINAL MIX, and a Re:coded HD cutscene compilation.
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue: Dream Drop Distance HD, the χ Back Cover movie, and 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A fragmentary passage –.
- KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind: KINGDOM HEARTS III and the Re Mind DLC.
The two HD cutscene compilations in 1.5+2.5 are movies, not full playable remakes of 358/2 Days and Re:coded. Square Enix says the three collection components can also be purchased individually. Its collection page describes the current-generation releases as native rather than cloud-streamed. It separately lists a native original-Switch release for 1.5+2.5 only; it does not announce the other components as native original-Switch versions. Square Enix’s collection page has the package details.

Kingdom Hearts on Switch vs. PS5: What changes?
Switch 2: the portable native option
The Switch 2 collection is a native release, so it is not the old Switch cloud-streaming version. It is the clearest fit if handheld play and Nintendo portability matter most. Square Enix lists both physical and digital editions for Switch 2.

Xbox Series X|S: a digital-first listing
Xbox is also listed for a native current-generation release. The US Xbox store presents the collection as a digital preorder, and lists Xbox Series X|S and PC, 4K Ultra HD, 60 fps+, Optimized for Xbox Series X|S, Smart Delivery, and Xbox Play Anywhere. Those are store-listed capabilities, not independent performance tests or proof that Xbox performs identically to Switch 2 or PS5. See the Xbox store listing for its current terms.

Is the Kingdom Hearts Switch cloud version still available?
No. Sales of all four original-Switch cloud products—1.5+2.5 ReMIX Cloud Version, 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Cloud Version, III + Re Mind Cloud Version, and INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud—ended June 9, 2026 at 14:59 UTC. Square Enix schedules service discontinuation for June 9, 2027 at 14:59 UTC. Existing owners may continue using those products until service ends, but they are not a suitable new purchase.
The distinction matters: Nintendo defines cloud games as streamed from a server rather than fully downloaded to the console. Nintendo says they require a stable high-speed internet connection; if the connection becomes unstable, service can disconnect after a few minutes. Nintendo Switch Online is not required for cloud play itself, though a particular game’s online features may require membership. Nintendo recommends trying a game’s trial on your own network, but a successful trial does not guarantee future stability. Its FAQ says cloud versions are available only in the United States and Canada. These are Nintendo’s general cloud-game rules, not a prediction of performance on a specific connection. Read Nintendo’s cloud-game FAQ and Square Enix’s June 9, 2026 service notice.
Physical or digital: which format should you buy?
Square Enix lists physical and digital collection editions for Switch 2 and PS5. Its announcement identifies the individual components as digital-only, while the Xbox US store lists the bundle and three components as digital preorder products. Availability and terms can differ by region, so check the storefront or retailer for your territory.
A boxed Switch 2 or PS5 edition is a reasonable fit if you prefer owning a physical copy. It is not fully offline from the outset: Square Enix states, “To play the physical version of KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I–III], an internet connection is required to download additional data.” Confirm the retailer’s exact listing, region, stock, and edition before purchase. The official announcement is at Square Enix Asia News Portal.

Do older digital purchases qualify for a discount or save transfer?
Square Enix says owners of qualifying digital releases on Switch Cloud, PS4, or Xbox One may receive a 50% discount on eligible digital preorders and post-launch purchases of corresponding new editions. Eligibility varies by platform and collection component. For Switch cloud owners, the discount applies to the corresponding Switch 2 digital edition; ownership of INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud qualifies for discounts on all digital versions. The discount does not apply to the physical collection edition. Check the relevant store for your specific entitlement instead of assuming any previous purchase qualifies.
Recommended Free Tools
Square Enix says Switch cloud save data can transfer to Switch 2. Its announcement says save transfer is not supported for the platform upgrades it discusses from PS4 to PS5 or Xbox One to Series X|S. These statements concern those named upgrades and should not be taken as a rule for other save systems.

|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 | Portable Nintendo play | Native collection; physical and digital editions listed. |
| PS5 | Your existing PlayStation setup or a physical collection | Native release; physical and digital editions listed. The boxed version requires an internet download of additional data. |

Square Enix also lists a platform-specific Keyblade: Long Night for Switch 2, Midnight Blue for PS5, and Phantom Green for Xbox Series X|S. The qualifying purchase types vary by platform and bundle, so confirm the offer with the relevant storefront. The Xbox store advertises 48 hours of early access for preorders placed by 11:59 p.m. on October 7, 2026; that is a store-specific offer, not a general benefit across platforms or later purchases.
