There is no officially verified best Ninjala configuration for every player. Start with a button preset you can use comfortably, customize only actions that feel awkward, and decide whether gyro and any available camera options suit your play. Check the display mode before a match; calibrate your Switch controls if movement or aiming seems inaccurate.
What are the best Ninjala settings?
The best setup is the one that lets you repeat important actions reliably while keeping opponents visible and the controls comfortable. Ninjala offers button presets as well as custom button mapping, but its official material does not identify one universally best layout or publish recommended camera or gyro sensitivity values. Treat any specific sensitivity setting you encounter as a personal preference, not an official competitive recommendation.
Choose a preset before customizing
If you are new to the game, begin with a preset that feels familiar. Change only the buttons that are difficult to reach or remember, then practice that layout before making further changes. A preset is quick to learn; a custom layout can improve reach or make repeated actions easier, but only if you give yourself time to adapt. The official Season 5 announcement describes Control Type E as a beginner-oriented option that adjusts Auto-Target, Reset Camera, Gum Utsusemi, and button settings. That makes it a reasonable onboarding option, not a best choice for everyone. See the Season 5 announcement; for the available preset and customization information, consult the Ninjala manual.
Set the display mode for how you are playing
Ninjala’s manual says to use TV Mode when the Switch is connected to a TV, and Handheld Mode at other times. Check this and other miscellaneous options before starting: those options cannot be changed during a battle. Ninjala System Settings manual

How do I change controls in Ninjala?
Open the game’s Options menu to adjust the button setup. Start with a preset, then use the customization option for any action that feels awkward. Make changes in small batches so you can tell whether the new mapping actually helps, and practice the revised layout before changing it again. Miscellaneous settings cannot be changed mid-battle, so finish setup before the match begins. Ninjala manual: button settings · Ninjala manual: miscellaneous settings
Should I use motion controls in Ninjala?
Gyro is optional. The Ninjala System Settings manual says, “Gyroscope controls will track the tilting and movement of your controller and allow you to adjust your viewpoint.” The feature requires a controller with a gyroscope sensor. Joy-Con supports motion controls, so you do not need to buy a separate controller just to try gyro. Ninjala System Settings manual: gyroscope controls

- Try gyro on if tilting the controller to adjust your viewpoint feels natural and does not distract you.
- Leave it off or start with a low sensitivity if controller movement makes your view feel unsteady. Adjust in small increments in a safe practice setting. This is a practical tuning approach, not a sensitivity value published by the developer.
The official material does not specify a universal gyro sensitivity. If gyro movement seems inaccurate rather than simply uncomfortable, calibrate the controller using Nintendo’s instructions below.
How do I change the camera in Ninjala?
Choose a view, when your current mode offers that choice, that keeps opponents visible without making movement uncomfortable. Test views in practice rather than assuming one angle is best for every player. Ninjala’s documented camera instructions cover spectators: they describe sky, fixed-stage, and behind-the-player views, changed with the ZL button followed by A. Those spectator controls do not establish that the same choices or shortcut are available in battle, and the official material does not rank battle camera views or give a best sensitivity value. How do I fix Switch motion controls that feel off?
If controller movement or stick input seems inaccurate, use the Switch calibration prompts before changing several Ninjala settings to compensate. Nintendo’s instructions cover Joy-Con and Pro Controller calibration. For motion calibration, place the controller on a flat, stable surface when prompted. Nintendo Support: calibrate the controllers
- From the Switch HOME Menu, open System Settings.
- Select Controllers and Sensors.
- Choose the relevant stick or motion-control calibration option and follow the on-screen prompts.
After calibration, return to Ninjala and check whether the input feels more accurate before making further changes to your button layout or gyro preference.
